Aurora held the wand in her hand, eager to start to harness her gift, "So, where should we begin?"
"Well, how about a simple fire spell?" Merryweather suggested. "A candle flame at the tip of your wand."
A fire spell? Well, that seemed simple enough. "Very well." Aurora acquiesced. "How would I cast such a spell?"
"It's very simple." Flora said. "I want you to close your eyes and hold the wand in one hand like you would a fork."
She failed to see how this would help, but this was why she wasn't doing the teaching, so she obeyed, holding the want in front of her, eyes closed.
"Now, relax your body, feel deep within you that spark of magic. Since you're trying to summon a small flame, it should feel warm, as if resting your hands above a candle on a cold winter's eve." Fauna instructed.
"I feel it." Aurora said softly. "It feels, good."
"Good. Now, bring the magic up to the surface, let it flow throughout your body, become one with the warmth, and when you're ready, slowly guide it through your arm and to the tip of your wand." Fauna continued gently.
"And when you feel the power in your wand, say 'Candle flame'." the red fairy finished.
Aurora breathed in deeply, and let out the breath, feeling the tingling power inside her slowly build and build until it suffused her whole body. She giggled lightly, it was a feeling she could get used to. Nevertheless, she slowly pushed it out her arm and said "Candle flame."
What happened next was the wand heating up rapidly, making Aurora drop it in shock; mere moments later it exploded with a bang like a thunderclap.
Instantly the room filled with hot, acrid smoke; leaving the four women present coughing and waving their hands in front of their face to try and clear their lungs until Flora was able to funnel the smoke out a window.
They all stood there, dazed and covered with soot and hair awry, trying to comprehend what had happened.
"I, feel like I may have made a mistake." said Aurora nervously, looking at her hand. It felt slightly hot, but she didn't feel injured, so she could at least find solace in that.
"Well, that's quite alright dear." Flora soothed her, another flick of her wand cleaning them all of soot and straightening their respective hairstyles once again. "Magic can be fickle when wielded by humans, so know that none of us fault you for this."
Aurora made a face, but nodded regardless.
"Thankfully, this is why we have backups." Merryweather said, producing another and giving it to the young Princess.
"Perhaps, a simpler spell this time?" Fauna threw out.
"Good idea. Aurora, I'm going to teach you a light spell." Merryweather said.
Aurora frowned, "Are, you certain?" she looked visibly worried, looking wearily at the wand in her hand.
"I am, dearie." The blue fairy confirmed.
"Very well then." she said, gathering her wits. Light spell. Very simple. She could do this. "I am going to assume I am to focus on my power and slowly bring it to the surface and say 'light'?" she asked.
"You learn quickly, Princess Aurora. You'll make a fine sorceress one day." smiled Fauna.
'If I can control my magic.' the young Princess thought, but held out her wand once again, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. She exhaled, feeling the magic flow through her a third time. "Light." she whispered, looking intently at her wand. And she got it.
There was a blinding flash of white that made Aurora yelp in surprise, dropping the wand as she stumbled back, trying to blink the spots out of her eyes.
"Aurora! Aurora, are you unharmed?" Fauna was immediately at her side.
"I, yes, I am." she rubbed her eyes, blinking rapidly again, "I was more, frightened, than injured."
"Unfortunately, I can't say the same of your wand." she looked at the now charred black piece of wood.
"Well, I brought you a third one." Flora smiled kindly, giving her a third piece of
"If you think it wise." Aurora said hesitantly.
"Then close your eyes and think of the power again, let it slowly trickle into your body, bit by bit, and instead of pushing it out your arm, let it fall out, as if you were being gently poured some water and when you're ready, open your eyes, point at this," she created a small pot of dirt with a single seed in it. "and say 'flower'."
Aurora breathed in deeply and slowly let the air out, letting the magic build up within her once again. "Flower." she pointed at the seed.
For a brief instant, nothing.
Then the pot exploded, making all women present shriek in surprise.
The ground rumbled as the seed grew and grew and grew, turning into not a mere daisy, but an immense oak tree, roots burrowing into the ground, shattering the floor as the top crashed through two ceilings until it eventually poked out the top of the roof.
Aurora looked up at the great tree from where she had fallen, "Have, I done something wrong?" she asked timidly.
"Well, I'll admit this is the first time I've seen this happen." Flora conceded.
"But you're not in trouble, dear." Merryweather flew over, helping the young Princess up. "Now, where's your wand?"
She looked down at the hand holding the now blackened wand and watched in utter confusion as it crumbled to dust. "Well, it was in my hand."
"Aurora!" boomed a male voice, making the four women jump as the King hurried into the room, his bodyguards running after him. "Aurora, what happ-" he stopped, observing the damaged room, and the immense tree now in the middle of it. He closed his eyes. "Aurora, my Ladies, could you please explain to me just what is going on?"
