At 6:45 am Draco was already in the common room waiting on Bella. He was sitting in a chair expecting to wait a while knowing how girls usually were but it was only 5 minutes later that Bella had come skipping down the stairs.

"Good morning Draco!" She smiled brightly

Her genuine happiness would talk some getting used to. He loved Slytherin but they were typically a grumpy bunch.

He smiled. "Morning Bella. Ready?"

She nodded and quickly fell instep walking next to him.

"So where are we going now? I saw that our first class doesn't start for an hour."

"Breakfast silly."

Draco glanced down at her, his almost 6 feet height he inherited from his father towering over her slightly over 5-foot frame. He smiled when she blushed.

"Right, yes of course."

He chuckled.

"Um Draco?"

Yes Bella?" He smirked. She sounded so unsure of herself. Something that he both found adorable and frustrating.

"Can I sit next to you again?"

They had almost reached the door to the mess hall when he stopped suddenly grabbing her by the arm and turning her to face him. A scowl on his face.

Draco rested his hands gently on her shoulder remember that Snape had said she was easily scared.

"Bella you don't have to ask that. You are always welcome to sit next to me. Ask me something or just come up to me to talk. It doesn't matter what I'm doing or who I'm with." He stared into her eyes trying to get her to understand. She seemed shocked at first but nodded with a smile. "Also when it comes to our classes, I would actually prefer you sit next to me so I can help you better. However, if you get used to things and decide to sit with someone else that is fine as well."

Bella shook her head. "No, I'd like to stay next to you if that's okay. I trust you."

He was the one startled by the confession but in the end, he snorted. "You would be the only one to openly say they trust a Slytherin. We are supposed to be cunning and tricky."

They laughed as placed his hand on her back and lead her the last few feet to the doors. A voice stopping them right before Draco wrapped his hand around the door handle.

"Isabella right?"

They both turned to see Harry and his two minions. Draco sighed but stayed next to Bella. He had promised his Godfather to keep an eye on her after all.

Bella fidgeted nervously in place looking up at her 'brother'. "Yes, Harry right?"

Harry nodded. "Um, so I guess we are related?"

"Twins."

Harry's mouth opened and closed several times making him look like a fish, causing Draco to snort. The sound-making Bella's lip twitch.

"How do you know?" He had finally asked.

"It's what my mother told me."

Granger huffed behind Harry. "If you're related to Harry why were you with him and how would your mother know?"

Draco was slightly joyous at the moment; it was the first time he noticed any negative reaction from Bella. He noticed her jaw clench and eyes narrow. That's more like it, he thought.

"My mother was friends with Lily in school and the Potter's didn't want me."

"Oh and why would they give you up?" Granger glared. Ron and Harry looking at each other nervously but neither said anything, too curious to know the answer themselves. So they allowed Granger to speak rudely to Bella. Which pissed Draco off.

"I don't know maybe they weren't happy I was born with a vagina. You nosey frizzy-haired Velma knockoff!" Bella hissed grabbing Draco by the hand and dragging him into the mess hall behind her. His loud laughing grabbing the attention of everyone but Bella ignored it and tossed herself angrily down in her seat at the table. Draco sitting next to her laying his head in the palms of his hands still laughing.

He didn't know what was funnier Bella's insult and the accuracy. Granger's offended face. Or the fact that even when Bella was angry it was adorable.

He could feel a couple of tears slip down his cheeks and he wiped them away and turned his head to look at her. Bella looked back at him blushing with apologetic eyes and it only made him laugh all over again.

She huffed and popped him in the shoulder which again only made it worse. He couldn't contain himself. Draco had seen people throw fists or jinx and hex people in anger. Even curse but it was the first time he heard Scooby-Doo insults.

He snorted.

Draco turned his body to the right so he could face her better. Before he said anything though he saw his Godfather staring at him curiously from the teacher's table. Draco just smirked at him and mouthed 'later.' When Snape nodded in understanding, Draco focused back on Bella.

"You're kinda adorable you know that?"

Bella blushed but smiled. "Thanks, Draco. And sorry about that. She was so rude! And Harry didn't say anything!"

He could see some sadness in her eyes at that last part. "Don't worry about Harry. Either he will apologize and try to talk to you himself or you don't need him. Also don't apologize, I honestly can't remember the last I laughed so hard." He chuckled. She smiled. "Velma though, really?"

"Everyone says she's a know it all. It was the first thing that popped in my head. Besides, how do you know about scooby doo? I thought purebloods avoided muggle things."

"Sometimes my father does business in the muggle world with other wizards. I go with him on occasion. I've seen a few episodes while I waited for him at the hotel." He shrugged.

Pansy, Zabini and Theo sat down with them.

Theo looked at Draco, "Why is Granger fuming outside the mess hall?"

Bella and Draco looked at each other before bursting out laughing.

Draco had to explain what happened and what Scooby-Doo was but by the time he was done everyone was laughing and his gang had agreed to only call her Velma from now on just to further annoy Granger.

By the time breakfast was over, everyone was in a good mood and left the mess hall smiling.

Draco had lead her to each of her classes and helped her as much as he could but he was pleasantly surprised to find that she wasn't as far behind as he had been expecting. For someone to only find out about their magic and start learning a few months ago, he couldn't imagine how hard she had been trying to catch up to get this far. Still, he added little tips to help her and even let Bella copy his older notes from the previous years.

She focused intently on every lesson; her determination was clear. Draco didn't know what happened to make her feel as though she needed to become stronger but he was going to help her.

The last class of the day was potions and Snape had asked them to brew a calming draught. Something they had learned last year. Draco figured it was to make sure they still remember and to let Bella see how a potion was made before moving on to something newer. Draco didn't say anything about that of course. The other students didn't need to know so he kept his mouth shut, only speaking to tell Bella what she needed to do. How to stir and what color the potion needed to be.

She followed his instructions perfectly only asking the occasional question but she never took her eyes off of the cauldron and by the end of class they had brewed it perfectly together.

Snape was making his rounds to each of the groups and commenting.

"Zabini, Miss Parkinson, it was 13 stirs clockwise not more. Not less. You can't fumble your way through a potion like you fumble through other things in the hallway when you think you're alone."

Bella giggled when she saw their faces turn red. Draco snickered and his friends tossed him glares.

"Mister Potter, Granger." Professor Snape tried not to sneer but it came out in a growl. "The color is not dark enough. You learned this last year. Will we have to go over everything again?" He turned from their table.

Draco saw Bella begin to wiggle in her seat looking nervous. He tapped her on the arm and sent a wink watching as she calmed and sent him a grateful smile.

Snape stopped at their table and examined their cauldron. Bella chewing on her lip.

"Hmm." The Professor hummed. "20 points to Slytherin. 10 for each of you." Bella smiled happily.

"Thank you Professor!"

Again Snape's lip twitched but he nodded then moved back to his desk and faced the whole class.

"Class dismissed. Draco stay behind."

Draco turned to Bella. "You can just wait outside the door if you want."

"Sure."

Pansy walked up, "We will wait with her."

Draco noticed Zabini by the door. Looks like his friends were growing fond of her too.

Bella smiled. "We will wait for you Draco."

He watched her walk outside with the others and close the door.

He moved over to stand before his Godfather.

"What was this morning about? It was….. unlike you."

Draco snorted. "Granger upset Bella. While Harry and Ron just stood there saying nothing."

Snape scowled. "That explains why she looked so upset at first, but not why you were laughing."

Draco smiled mischievously. Curious about his Godfather's reaction. The man never showed emotion.

"Bella called Granger a frizzy-haired Velma knockoff." He bit his lip to keep from laughing as Snape's lip twitched again, followed by a snort than the clearing of his throat.

"Right. Well, inform me if they continue to bother her."

Draco nodded and left, quickly finding his three friends waiting for him in the hall to go to dinner.
