Résume: BONUS of Maybe One Day, when Mikey and Draken have to face the aftermath. "He hated her for having made them feel like kings by her side, and madmen without her."
Thank you all for your reviews/favorites/follows, it's even more precious for me now that I write in a language other than French.
As someone (Kuroxi) asked, I wrote a bonus where Draken and Mikey are dealing with the aftermath. I kept it short because it's only a bonus, but I hope you'll like it. If one day I feel like writing a whole story in English, I'll keep you aware and will use this basis to write it.
Enjoy!
DROWNING
"She's dead." The boy said. His face was blank and he felt numb, a huge hole drowning in his heart, his thoughts, and his emotions. It was the very first time he felt like that. He wanted to cry, scream, and destroy everything around him, all at the same time, yet he was assaulted by visceral fatigue. He didn't understand. How could their life turn so badly over a single night?
Draken looked at his best friend. The blonde was prostrate, curled up in a ball, his arms circling around his legs, face buried between his knees. They had loved her. Hell, they still loved her! But she was gone. Gone forever. A tear rolled down his cheek. He choked back a sob, trying to contain himself.
She was gone. She was gone. She was gone.
His hand grabbed his t-shirt above his heart, and a cry escaped from his throat like he was a dying animal. His face fell into his other hand, and his breathing became choppy, as the realization hit him like a train. She was dead. She would never come back. She would never smile again, never cry again, never yell at them anymore. She would never be the one to keep them in line anymore.
In a way, Draken felt like it was he and Mikey against the world, like at the very beginning.
Mikey turned his eyes in his direction when he heard him. His heart shattered. He knew his best friend's feelings for Mei. And Draken knew his. They both had loved her, they both had hoped that they could have a special place in her heart. And now, she had given them her life. Mikey felt his world go grey. How could she be so selfish?! How could she have given up on life that way? How could she die on them, when they both loved her to no end?
The Toman's commander sobbed silently, trying to hold his breath and to be discreet. He didn't want his gang to see him weakened by a stranger's death. The wall hid them from their friends, from the rest of the crew. He wiped his hands, trying to clean up the blood that had soaked his clothes and his skin. Her blood. He had held her in his embrace, trying to hold back her life, even if she had already blown out her last breath. He closed his eyes, trying to keep his tone low, as he voiced his pain. The picture of their friend's body fallen against the parking wall flashed under his eyelids. Shit! He just wanted to forget, to wipe out his feelings, to sleep, and never wake up again. He wanted her to be here with them, he wanted her to tell them that it was a crazy-ass joke!
He hated her to make them feel like shit. He hated her for having made them feel like kings by her side, and madmen without her. He needed her to keep his mind, he needed her soothing presence, her smile, and her love. He would never be a good leader for the Toman if she wasn't here to reassure him. Tears rolled on his skin, down his cheeks, and on his hands, cleaning up the dry blood on his palms. There was no outcome that would satisfy him because there was no way to have her back. She was gone, and his best friend would never be the same again, he could tell by his dull eyes.
His prunelles drowned in the beautiful black of his irises.
That day, Mikey himself drowned in his own darkness.
"Ken," he called. "Let's go. I want the Toman to know who she was."
The taller boy raised his gaze on him and slowly nodded. A few seconds passed on them before they could actually stand up, forcing themselves to move. They looked back to the hospital through the window and wiped out their tears. They had puffy red eyes, and their sadness was obvious, but they knew that the gang would not say a word. For now, they would listen. They exited from their refuge and stood in front of their crew.
Draken's voice almost broke when he spoke. He knew that Mikey wouldn't be able to speak to anyone right now. "Only a few of you knew Mei personally. She was discreet. She had a brilliant future. She attended a good middle school and usually had top marks. She was bold and savage. I want you all to respect her memory and remember her as one of the founders of the Toman. She was the third member, right after Mikey and me. She was the person that stood in the dark, counseling us on what to do. Or mostly on what to not do." They all saw the contained tears in their leader's eyes. "I won't tell anything else. You had to know her to understand what she did to other people."
The blonde sighed painfully. He looked back to his leader and watched him. Hatred and revenge had already begun to burn inside of his heart. He closed his eyes, picturing himself his friend's smile and her sweet voice.
"Mei? Who do you love the most on earth?"
"Myself, of course!"
Sadness had already faded, eaten up by ferocious hate, and both of them were ready to burn alive in their attempt to avenge her death.
Mikey, Draken, and the Tokyo Manji Gang had lost.
