A/N: I'm already back with another fic about my dragon son. Sequel to my previous Sabo x OC fic "From Seas To Sands." Still a triple crossover that I'm not sorry about.
It had almost been a year since they departed on this adventure. Perhaps the best year of Sabo's life. No threats, no warfare, no specific agenda… just exploring for the fun of it. What he always wanted.
But it wasn't so much about that as it was just being with his best friend and girlfriend, Ami Kurta. And her fun, quirky crew. The group of talented musicians who were also shinobi from Sunagakure. Masa the navigator. Lyn the strategist. Sonya the chef. Arlo the doctor. Biz the shipwright. They were all unique characters but they had become his family. This season of life wouldn't have been nearly as special without them.
This group was laid back, just along for the ride on Sabo's adventures that would be recorded in his book; even though he was technically a guest on their ship. But whatever. The details didn't matter. They had been all over the sea, discovering hidden places and seeing the most beautiful sights. Hiking, kayaking, skiing, cliff jumping… who ever said that book research couldn't be fun?
One morning Sabo was out on the deck, doing some solo training with his signature pipe. Sweaty and shirtless.
"It's never a bad idea to keep up your game," he said, turning to Ami in the lawn chair across from him. "Wanna join me?"
"Nope. I'm just here for the view," she said with a smirk, taking a drink of coconut juice.
He smiled and wiped his forehead. "Heh… well I guess it's a good thing you're not a physical attacker."
"I don't need to be. Not when I can just scare 'em away whenever I want." She gave him a sassy look while jokingly twirling a strand of hair.
It was true. To this day he still finds it amusing. Even though it was unfortunately due to her rough childhood, she had learned how to act scary and sinister. It was very convincing for most, but he of all people knew she was a kind person. And one who loved him.
As for Sabo? Let's just say that Ami was the only person besides Luffy who could make his face cramp from smiling so much.

It was a nice day. Peaceful. For the moment, anyway.
Shy Sonya came outside, which was rather unusual. She was the most introverted of the crew. Sometimes she gets really loud and social, but usually she prefers quiet and solitude. The others always respected that.
She walked over to Sabo at the railing and handed him a transponder snail.
"Hey, this call's for you," she said before once again retreating.
"Hm? This is Sabo," he said, taking the phone.
"Hello Sabo. Hope you've been well."
"Huh? Dragon-sama? Is that you?"
"It is. I don't mean to call you out of the blue. I'm sorry if I'm interrupting you and your plans, but something has come up."

Ami went outside to meet Sabo at the railing.
"So we'll be at the next island by tomorrow morning," she began. "The crew wants to go to the country music festival. And while I'd rather slam my head through a door than listen to country music all day, I'm not opposed to junk food stands, and-"
He looked serious and deep in thought, which was extremely rare these days.
"...You okay?"
He finally turned around to face her, arms crossed.
"I think…" he muttered, avoiding eye contact. "I think we're gonna have to skip that island and head north."
"What? Why?"
"Dragon called."
"Oh yeah? How's he doing?"
"He had some… news. Apparently there's someone who poses a threat to the peace we fought so hard for. They want to reinstate the nobility and Celestial Dragon systems."
"Seriously? Who would be stupid enough to do that?!"
"I don't know, but Dragon asked me to track this person down. He at least knows the general location of their whereabouts. We're a lot closer than he is, so that's why I'm being tasked."
"Okay, no problem. We'll catch this idiot and that'll be that. It's another mission like old times, right? Why do you seem so down?"
"It's just… where we're being sent. I'm not exactly thrilled to go there."
"O...kay, so where is this mystery place?"
"Goa Kingdom. My hometown."
