Sammy wanted nothing to do with Total Drama ever again. She had auditioned to get away from Amy, and instead she was stuck with her. That show was terrible. Unfortunately she was still under contract. So when Chris told her he was inviting members from all three generations to a resort for a reunion special she had no choice but to go. As it turned out she was one of the more tolerable members of the third generation. Of course Amy was also invited.

When she had arrived it was to find that many of the older generation contestants actually saw right through Amy's act. She had many people stand up for her. Gwen, Lashawna, Bridgette, Cody, DJ, Geoff, Zoey, and Brick to name a few. There was one person who stood up for her that was confusing. A handsome man named Alejandro.

Sammy hadn't seen any of the previous seasons so she didn't really know what he'd done, but from the way everyone was acting towards him it hadn't been good. This was confirmed when she talked to some of her newfound friends about him.

"Girl Alejandro looks hot, but you don't wanna get involved with him. Trust me." Lashawna told her.

"If Alejandro's being nice, odds are he wants something from you." Gwen said.

"Aleheinous is nothing but a girlfriend stealing jerk!" Geoff exclaimed.

Sammy figured they were probably right, and yet she couldn't shake the feeling there was more to it than that. Still she decided to decline any favors he asked for. The thing was he didn't ask for any favors. They'd been at the resort for three days, and he'd never once acted like he wanted anything from her. It was confusing to say the least.

It was probably best not to worry about it. He was just waiting for her to let her gaurd down right? Then when she trusted him, he'd ask for something. That had to be the explanation. Something in her gut said it wasn't. As much as she tried to ignore it, she just felt the need to find out.

It was early the fourth morning that Sammy awoke. She tip toed out of the room she was sharing with Amy and snuck down to the first floor. She went out to the porch and grinned. It was six in the morning and as far as she knew, she was the only one awake. Which meant no one would bother her while she watched the sunrise. She sat down at one of the small tables placed on the porch and sipped on a glass of water as she took in the sights.

"Quite the view is it not?" An accented voice asked. Startled Sammy fell off her chair. She looked up at Alejandro embarrassed. "My sincerest apologies Sammy. Let me help you up." He offered her a hand. hesitantly she took it, still concerned what his intentions might be.

"Thanks. I was just enjoying the sunrise." She muttered.

"Indeed. The sun's radiance paints a swath of color across the canvas of the sky."

"Wow. I wish I was that eloquent. I was just going to say it was pretty." Sammy admitted.

"That is also a valid description." He agreed.

The two sat in silence for a minute or so, Sammy played with the straw in her water glass self consciously. Should she say something? Ask him why he was being so nice? Why he bothered to use her real name? Why he seemed so invested when he told off her sister? Eventually Alejandro broke the silence.

"How are you doing by the way? Your sister hasn't been troubling you too much I hope?" He asked.

"Well, it's better here than at home. At least here someone defends me, or takes my side in an argument. I mean Amy still treats me like I'm less than the dirt beneath her feet, but she's getting karma for it." She sighed.

"Your family doesn't care?" The Spaniard asked.

"Not really. Amy's always been able to get away with anything. She pins all of the thing she does on me, and my parents never believe me when I say she's setting me up."

Why was she doing this? Alejandro was a terrible person. So why was she sitting here, spilling her guts to him? Maybe it was because he seemed like he was listening in earnest.

"I see. I'm sorry to hear that." He said.

Silence again, this time a bit more comfortable. Sammy wasn't sure why, but she felt compelled to ask him why he was doing all this. Why asked about her home life? From what she'd heard of him from the other contestants he didn't asked anyone else about their home life. He seemed so sincere.

"Alejandro?" She began.

"Yes?" He wondered.

"Why do you defend me from Amy? Why do you care about my home life? Why do you remind everyone what my real name is if they forget? My friends think you want something from me. Maybe you do, but it feels like more than that. Like there's some reason you do it."

Silence again, and she thought he wasn't going to answer, but eventually he sighed. "I'm that obvious?"

"Not really. I just can't shake the feeling this means more to you than everyone seems to think." She said.

"Have you seen any of the earlier seasons?" He asked.

"No."

"Then you wouldn't know. You see Sammy we are in very similar situations."

"We are?" She asked, confused.

"At home I have an older brother. His name is Jose. He is better than me in every way, and he never lets me forget that. He always picks on me. One time he replaced my soap with a urinal cake. He calls me Al." The Spaniard shuddered. "I hate that nickname. It always reminds me that no matter how hard I try I'll never live up to his standards. My parents never bother to stop him."

Sammy was shocked. From how Alejandro carried himself, she would have never thought he had a horrible older sibling too. One that called him by a hated nickname as well. That's why he was so invested in calling out Amy.

"I can't just stand idly by while she treats you like that." Alejandro said.

Sammy smiled. It was the first time she felt like someone truly understood her problems. It was nice to have friends that stood by her, but he really got it. "Hey." She began. "I-if you ever want to vent to someone about how your brother treats you, I'd be happy to lend an ear."

Alejandro looked shocked, then he too smiled. "I would like that, and I'll be willing to do the same."

Silence once again as they took in the sunrise. As she glanced at Alejandro she made herself a promise. If anyone called him Al just to spite him, she'd correct them.
