After a long walk throughout a local park, both Ed and Kelly found a nearby bench staring at the now setting sun. The sky itself was becoming a lightest pink with purple accents. No clouds in the sky, it truly was a wonderful. He then turned toward Kelly, as he became nervous. It was their second date. Yet, his inner-self needed to tell her something important. Something that could change their relationship forever, if she didn't like what she was about to hear.
"Because I don't know how to say this. Don't know how to tell you without feeling stupid. I can't let you leave, then you'd never know. As I could never live with that. I need you to listen, I need you to understand." Ed's voice became rushed.
Kelly gave him a confused smirk. "Understand what?"
"I need you. When I see you, I smile. Knowing that, which makes my day better when you're with me." His face blushed a deep red. "I swear when you laugh, it's the most perfect sound. When you cry, I want to be the man to dry those tears." He coughed, while continuing. "You are so beautiful in so many ways; something you could never realize. While those ocean blue eyes, they are my most favorite thing in the entire world. The way you express your emotions, so passionate and raw-oh so amazing. You are so brave."
She stared at him, eyes wide. Unable to speak. She could tell he was nervous, while not sure why he was telling her all this. Especially at this time, just to tell her she was 'beautiful'. She then heard him whisper. "No! Shit-I'm rambling." He took a deep breath. Then held her face, staring deep into her eyes. He almost became lost in them. "I'm trying to tell you, I'm trying to say that I love you." He then bit his lip, not knowing her answer. Yet deep down, it would be a 'No' like the last girl he tried to date.
Kelly then gently gasped, eyes even wider. 'It was like the second date, and he thought it was a good time to say all this.' She thought to herself. 'It was like when he called her immediately the next day after their first date like a month ago. He opens his heart too fast, yet I somewhat like that...Weird.'
He waited in agonizing pain. He prayed that she wouldn't break his heart. She then removed his hands from his face, then held them somewhat tightly. He didn't say a word, just watched her in confusion. She then smirked. "Don't you know? I'm already in love." He again was confused, yet interested while listening. "I fell in love when I came to Union Point. I remember walking to my campus dorm when I tripped, as I then my (educational) pad and some of belongings fell onto the ground. Embarrassed, I tried scrambling to get my things. When some older man handed me my pad. I looked up seeing him, as he smiled at me, and I quote. 'It happens quite a lot, I and my friend Gordon done it over a hundred times; especially being drunk.'" She smiled in a warm tone. "The best part, this man walked me to my dorm to make sure I was ok."
Ed's confusion already shown. As he had forgotten how he and Kelly actually met. She then continued.
"You know my favorite trait about that man? He walked me to my dorm as often as he could." She sighed sadly. "To be honest, I was worried he would go off into space with his own ship once he actually graduated earlier than me. I was worried that you'd become 'Captain' like my father, and leave me behind." She let go of Ed's hands. "As of now, things are going the same way until we both graduate." She wrapped her arms around him. He then grinned widely, while wrapping his arms around her. While laying her head on his shoulder, she whispered in a sultry voice. "I love you, Ed..."
Ed's heart beat rapidly, as he grew nervous while his lips pecked her forehead. He performed his first non-lip kiss. He knew he couldn't rush a real one. He softly spoke in her ear. "That 'man'? He fell in love the minute he saw you smile." He then gently rubbed her back.
In a sarcastic tone. "Oh by the way, I think you're beautiful too." Then she giggled.
He giggled as well. "Am I perfect yet?"
She closed her eyes, as she yawned a bit. "As of now, I don't know how to tell you how perfect you are..."
(A/N: This was a short story of Ed and Kelly's second date. The show itself never really showed their dates that lead to their marriage. So this is a idea of how one date could have went. Just a stupid story of young love.)
