Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Guardian of the Queen. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Destiny; Microsoft and a few others do.

Nicolas hated Uldren more the he disliked the Reef. The smug prince was someone who the warlock would like nothing better to do then simply slug him.

Still? He bowed; he had heard from Ikora that the message had already been sent forward ahead of time.

"Oh, the little light returns." Uldren said as Nicolas lightly raised his helmeted head.

"Who are you, again?" Nicolas questioned with a twinge of barely contained venom within. "Because I came to deal with the queen… Not an errand boy." Nicolas stated as he hummed.

Uldren glowered but Nicolas didn't care. Uldren hated every guardian and Nicolas had no time for the crap he spouted. He was nothing more then a glorified servant to Mara.

She was queen, he was simply her spy. Nicolas knew that very well.

"It has returned." Mara said from her throne as Nicolas returned to pointing his head at the ground. "And with an offer." Mara said as Nicolas hummed.

He had little reason to wear his helmet… But Mara knew why he'd wear it in her presence. It masked his emotions and as thus? It helped him hide his feelings from her. Mara knew even if she ordered him to remove it? That this guardian was better at hiding his true feelings.

He was as cunning as she, that was why the city sent him… And why he was here now.

"Stop antagonizing our guest, Uldren." Mara stated as Uldren turned and left. "You've come to broker a deal." Mara stated as Nicolas hummed.

"And you've answered despite hating the city." Nicolas shot back. "Don't deny it. You hate those who call on the light. Your people think we're cowards for erecting walls to defend ourselves when it comes down to it." Nicolas stated as he cracked his fingers once more.

He knew for a fact that Mara was judging him. She didn't show it on her face… But she did, it was like swimming, you constantly moved through the water.

"What is it you want, guardian?" Mara questioned as Nicolas put his fingers on his belt.

"I want us to be allies… I have enough people trying to kill me…" Nicolas said and crossed his arms. "And I have a feeling that you don't enjoy starting countless wars…" Nicolas stated and hummed.

He knew very well that Mara hated light users. She hated people who drew on the light. Nicolas also knew she danced in the dark at times. It was a lot like trying to stand against a hurricane and it interested him.

"And what do I stand to gain from this?" Mara questioned while Nicolas started to pace the throne room. "You know as well as I do that trust is a 2-way street." Mara stated which caused Nicolas to sigh and look another way.

He knew very well that there was little at stake at the moment. Mara could only wonder what the guardian wanted so well to be fighting so hard.

"The city suggested I aid the reef in whatever they require." Nicolas said as he hummed and brushed off his armor. "As thanks for helping the city break into the Black Garden." Nicolas stated as he continued to look around at the moment.

"Your offering up yourself." Mara responded to which he hummed as he looked to the side.

"If that's what is required then that is what I shall do." Nicolas stated and hummed once more as he pondered what else he could do at the moment.

Nicolas sighed and then conjured a nova bomb in his hand and held it up. Nicolas turned to look at Mara through his helmet while he blinked.

"I've heard you brought the House of Wolves down with power that the city couldn't dream of." Nicolas stated as he walked around the room. "I know the reef, but it's not my home unless you'd have me as a servant. I already know that I'm in the lion's den… My only question is what does the lioness desire so badly?" Nicolas asked as he clenched his fist.

Nicolas could see Mara think of what would do next when it came down to it. He was quite curious as to what the queen what she'd do next. Mara had the floor, but she was curious. Nicolas knew for a fact that she was as curious as he was.

This agreement would be a war when it came down to it. He couldn't wait to see just how insane this agreement could be down the road. Nicolas sat down next to him as he looked to the queen as he hummed once more.

Nicolas couldn't wait for the issue down the road. He couldn't wait to see what insanity came next.

Mara said nothing and simply sat in her throne, thinking on what came next for her… And her new help.
