At a far corner in the Highest Level not known to many Burst Linkers, two small spherical orbs of light lay dim. A certain grey-colored avatar had arrived, hoping to interact with these mysterious entities. In response, the spheres shone brightly, emanating a power that could shake the very foundation of the world, though they had kept it hidden very well. One voice with a male inflection started speaking:

"The time has come, has it not?"

"Yes, Papa, Mama. Most of the threats in Brain Burst are now eliminated."

Heaving a sigh of relief, the male voice continued:

"Finally, this trial can enter its final phase."

Just then, a female voice spoke up:

"But before that… we need to see if they are ready."

"Come on, Yuuki! Papa and Mama are calling for you!"

"Coming, Onii-chan!"

The girl who was just called Yuuki was busy observing the butterflies flying around the Central Cathedral's rose garden, having grown a fascination for them ever since she was little. Her mother once told her that butterflies were ephemeral existences that flew to what lay beyond. She also said that she was named after a dear friend of hers who was like a butterfly in her life. Yuuki declared that she would one day fly like these mystical creatures, always aiming for the horizon, which made her mother smile.

The person who called for her was her older twin brother Yuuji. They were widely known and respected by the people around them, as they were no ordinary children, but rather offspring of a certain King and Queen who had once overthrown the previous tyrannical ruler of the Human Empire and made great advancements in civilization and technology, even renaming it the Star Empire after conquering a nearby planet. Yuuji was to become a great swordsman like his father, while Yuuki was to become a noble, kind and strong lady like her mother.

Their parents had summoned them inside the Cathedral for urgent news. They had been living for 170 years and their minds were slowly withering. The King said to them:

"Yuuji… Yuuki… Sorry, but our time in this world is running short. We'll soon have to depart from here."

Upon hearing this, Yuuji just accepted what was going to happen without saying a single word, while Yuuki got a bit emotional and shouted:

"No! Don't leave us!"

She rushed to her mother and hugged her, clearly being more attached to her over her father.

"Hey, Mama, you'll come back one day, right?"

The Queen merely smiled, but it was filled with tears as she knew what that would really mean. Nevertheless, she tried consoling her child.

"That's right, Yuuki-chan. We'll come back for sure… come… come back…"

"M-Mama?"

Suddenly, the King and Yuuji disappeared, and the Queen changed her appearance from a kind-hearted woman to a demonic one, who put a sinister smile on her face as she said:

"You're coming back with me."

"N-No… NOOOOOO!", Yuuki cried out in fear, but no one could hear her.

September 28, 2047. 12:00 am.

A mysterious signal had been transmitted to a Neurolinker painted piano-black. Before then, the girl wearing it had no issues. But now, she felt some sort of uneasiness, like a sign of something foreboding about to happen, as she had just woken up from a nightmare.

"Just… what was that?"

She asked but got no response.
