Sarah looked down at her miraculous friend, Alex was curled up in a ball, sleeping softly like a little puppy, she smiled at the sight softly as she took in the sight until she noticed. "The tube is out! Bahman, the tube!" She cried. And as they watched, trying to flip the heavy girl over the between them, Alex shot up and coughed up a blob of blood and saliva at them! Alex gasped, and coughed a bit more, but was breathing. "Time to go?" Sarah checked with the both of them. Alexa nodded with her full range of motion, the three packed up and sped out of there.
Alexa took it all, both of the less locationally challenged flanked flanked her into the uber, Bahman had donated his bat cape to her sorry appearance and the two giggled though the whole of the journey back to his apartment. They only dared to leave her alone when she was safely lying on the sofa. She was well aware she looked like a grumpy child, but there was no way she would face anyone or go home like this, even if she had a bone to pick with Paul. And Tristan, she was mortified, she had dumped him, runaway from him, and he'd still helped her? He was so frustrating good.
She heard a little squabbling from the kitchen, and then Sarah 'popped' into existence before her, "I can make you soup?" She stated, hands on her hips, Bahman 'popped' up next to her, "Or we can get take out?" He said, with his attention more towards Sarah than the invalid herself. All Alexa could do was shrug, "Soup it is." Sarah floated back to the kitchen. The post-batman Bahman looked at her with remembered sympathy, "Shall I put another one of those movie's on? Or what about a game, get some of those violent tendencies played out?" He half teased, crooking a small smile. She shot him a quick dagger but thinking about it, dipped the edges of her lips and picked up a controller and shrugged again. Bahman fiddled with the console, the TV and it's many HDMI points, and put on a game full of guns and death, and called it 'Borderlands 3'. She had to admit was pretty fun, after 30 or so hours it was a pretty good. She could still only barely croak, and her phone had been buzzing like crazy for the few days she had decided to ignore it. What would happen if she headed out on a hunt without her voice? She didn't want to try it, she'd likely confuse and put people in danger. What if she ran into law enforcement? She didn't want to think of the consequences.
She was taking it easy, trying not to listen to the two behind her "Have you ever seen her like this before, actually relaxing and being a couch potato?" The usual player 1 asked his etherial companion as they loomed behind her, "Only with Tristan really. She was dead studious as school."
"That reminds me I have to ask him something."
"About wolves? I'm checking on her."
Bahman took a moment to watch the beautiful girl next door float away from him. As he dialled the were-cop love interest © Untitled Game, wait no Lost Girl did that already! "Hello erm Tristan this is Bahman, we met when err."
"When I shot you, Alexa's mate? How is the pup?"
"She's alive… Has she not texted you?"
"I hoped she would. She can be quite the handful. But no and she won't until she grows up a little."
"She hasn't even thanked you…?"
"No… So have you called me to gossip about my love life?"
"Ah, no, sorry! But it is Alexa related she said her father was missing? And I met the scary people-" There was a roared chuckle through his headset, "- that turned up the day he disappeared?" He finished flatly, Tristan stoped laughing abruptly. "That is true."
"She told me you were looking into it all, what do you have?"
"You know I'm a police officer who has far more resources than you?"
"Sir, I can um. Please don't arrest me but I am good with computers and well Alexa almost died so I would like to help her out a bit." He blurted out his stream of thoughts, without stopping to catch his breath. There was a dead silence for a moment, Bahman could only wait for the reply. "Okay mate, here goes. Paul is a vampire but Diana Alexa'a adopted cousin seems harmless, overprotective and hates the idea Alexa is a young adult making her way in the world. But she's also a person I'm not going to arrest for 'being good with computers.' I don't like the things. But Diana would have found something out about where her uncle had gone if she could."
"What makes you think she and the vampire didn't do it together?"
"Because Alexa trusts her, she's annoyed by the overprotectiveness but if you see them together then you can tell their family."
"But they met recently?"
"Trust me. But besides that, let me know if you find anything because, the man has truly disappeared. No trace that I could pick up, and I'm a werewolf copper, I can usually sniff anyone out." The man on the other end of the line finished. Bahman didn't feel any better about the characters he'd met in his friend's home, if this Diana was a hacker too why didn't Alexa mention her having searched for her lost family member. That or how the vampire followed her every command was shady to no end. But that wasn't anything to go on either.
He'd start with CCTV, all he uncovered was footage of D wondering around Devon doing really boring things for the last two days, well at least he had eliminated the idea that D had been planning to leave… which only made his sudden disappearance ever more worrying. Perhaps he should search for only the specific area, Bahman tried to find at least one camera, but the village his buddy had made a home by was firmly stuck in the past. No cameras, barely any WiFi, even very few smartphone signals… It was Bahman's hell, no way of knowing anything digitally. Then he considered Tristan, the werewolf who's job it was to find people hadn't been able to find him ether, what hadn't he tried? The vampire 'Paul' and Diana.
Bahman realised all vampires were hard to track, so Paul couldn't be captured by a camera? Even a digital one. He looked further into it, if a 'vampires image cannot be reflected in a mirror', and every camera lens has a reflective 'mirror' to capture an image. That's why Alexa had been depending on Diana's help for finding vampires, but that didn't help him. What did he know about Paul from Alexa? He had to have been doing something to make a trail, bodies, at least a money trail. Alexa had mentioned that he'd bought the bike she'd lost? A quick search for CCTV on the day they met, there's a clear plate. With that he easily found the card used to purchase her lost bike.
They'd found the bike on the other side of London last month and it had seemed to have survived pretty well but Alexa had sent it home, not trusting herself to not leave it somewhere with the keys unattended again. Or to keep from breaking the "Multitude!" Of 20 miles an hour roads in London.
The card had a name on it he didn't recognise at first Polynikes Athanasios, "I guess you could get 'Paul' from that?" He concluded out loud, has Alexa ever used my name aloud? She has the sort of English accent that that could butcher any name. As luck would have it there was a few transactions on and around the day of D's disappearance. And an Orange taxi account, this whole hacking thing was getting too easy, sometimes it was laid out for him. The wannabe Uber was an easy hack, he could now place the time and place the vampire had arrived in Alexa's village. The day D disappeared! And he couldn't believe his luck, the car had had a dash cam! He sorted through the car owner's saved dash cam footage via a remote take over of his computer and saved a clip.
He wanted to check the clip before he showed it to anyone else, and pressed play. The car slowed to a stop, in front of the camera there were a few houses that you could barely make out, and a brightly lit corner shop, off-licence place. The doors automatically opened as a bespectacled tall man stumbled out as fast as he could. His clothing covered in what looked like his own blood but blue. He almost fell then an invisible force caught him. And walked him over to the side as the camera sped away. Bahman mused, the driver hadn't seen the blood, or had ignored it, he wouldn't have done that… but neither did Paul. Paul helped D? That was a revelation, and he'd found a alibi too. D was last caught on camera with Paul! The vampire must know something, but that left his weird relationship with Diana.
Alexa had never told him much about her cousin, she didn't seem to know anything and hadn't asked? Just blindly trusted her why, she couldn't be so similar to D that she hadn't required proof? He tried to search for Diana face through facial recognition, nothing, there was literally nothing that could be found of her before the day after D had disappeared. And Alexa had met he on the day. She was like D but not in a good way. Tristan had mentioned she was a 'very good with computers' too, then he needed to get his hands into her server.
The passwords were deeply coded, so he had to go under and read the very fine code, he struggled a fair amount but managed to copy the hard drive's operation history and when he looked through the copy on his own system he noticed nothing. There had been no change in usage at all for the last 10+ years, which was amazing considering the advancements of ICT. She had known the passwords, and literally everything about D and Alexa's life like she'd been there, her impact was exactly the same as him. She'd slipped into D's shoes. It didn't make sense, but he knew his own powers of teleportation didn't either. He needed another opinion.
