Constable Tristan Sandulf had been enjoying his drive out to the rolling hills of the Devonshire countyside, when the technological ball and chain buzzed unbearably in his jacket pocket, he pulled over and answered from the lay by. "Sandulf here." Trying to not sound a little angry and disappointed it hadn't been Alexa. "Paul and Diana are hiding something, do you have an email I can send something? Do you think you could take Paul if it came to a fight?"
"Those are some questions."
"You don't have an email address? Wait no I'll just bring my phone." The phone cut off abruptly, he couldn't stop the teleporter, he was going to wait right here and hope his house survived the sudden disruption. His eyes wondered to the sheep in the field across from him, so fluffy, succulent and aimless. It couldn't hurt to go for a run in the surrounding fields.
Bahman hovered at the back door of a very wolf-less house, where was the wolf? He tried calling again and rang off, as he popped back to his desktop and traced the phone to a roadside in the middle of nowhere. And teleported there instead. Immediately he had to cover his eyes, there was a fully naked man crouched in front of him. His phone rang once in his pocket and the man before him chuckled chestily. "How are you going to show me anything with your eyes closed?" Tristan stated. Bahman tried opening his eyes gingerly he let out a sigh of relief to see the man-wolf all but completely clothed, he did not need to compare himself the that muscle mass. No wonder Alexa never looked anywhere else, he bet Sarah must have snooped on him wondering about naked all the time too. But he tried to suck it up and brought up the dash cam clip on his phone. "What do you make of this?" He offered. And watched a scowl forming on Tristan's brow. "I think that is deeply suspicious. Especially that I never smelt D's blood anywhere in the house, even cleaned I would have picked it up."
"What does that mean?"
"It means we are going to ask them directly. You get away if there is any danger at all and tell Alexa everything. Deal?"
"Yep!" He tried not to squeal but a concerned and scowling Tristan was pure intimidation. "Also." The man-wolf glared at him as he gestured to get into his car. "We're using the front door." He slammed the drivers door shut. Bahman liked the ease of popping from place to place and there weren't many people he could do it in front of but… maybe he shouldn't around this man? One last go, he popped into the front passengers seat as Tristan started the car. "Ahh!" Tristan yelped and stalled the car. "Stop doing that!" The driver commanded, shaking his hair everywhere as he restarted the car and drove off.
The silence ate at Bahman, "You don't like me do you?"
"It's not about like. It's about politeness."
"I'm sorry Mr Sandulf if I have offended you!"
"Just stop appearing everywhere unannounced, then we'll be good." He grumbled, settling into a smooth and steady speed towards their destination. "However I am sorry for shooting at you."
"No worries!"
The farmhouse from the outside was a completely different experience, and Bahman could see why the inhabitants could be a little weird. The building was a red bricked monstrosity, probably only held together by the climbing ivy plants and very determined spiders. It was a shell of a house, long abandoned and left to rot, haunted by it's former usefulness. Sarah must feel right at home here, were there other ghosts inside that weren't as nice as her? He watched the 'cop' bang on the door. "Hey it's Tristan, I know you can hear us down here, open up."
"Shall I just-"
"No." The werewolf scowled at him. Bahman gulped, yep use doors around him.
The door opened wide to reveal a pink eyed pale young man. The vampire was far less scary in the daylight, and despite his translucent skin and extremely rare eye colour, the blond was far more approachable, human even, standing there in a fluffy dressing gown, striped pyjamas, and slippers. They watched him yawn revealing very sharp fangs throughout his mouth, that sight could send chills of fear down anyone's spine, self preservation screaming predator! "Fine come in. Oh you brought me a snack?" The demon led them in, teasing the both
"I believe you've met." Tristan shot him down with one look of pure power, great another thing to make him look up to the man. "I'm Bahman, was Batman Alexa's saviour." He gulped, extending a shanking hand out, remembering Tristan's gibe about politeness. The vampire looked down at the extended hand as it assessing the Bahman, undressing him deciding something. He had lost all expressions for a moment, and the pink eyes looked though him as if they had seen thousands of him before and was calculating wether even shaking a hand was worth his time. But he did. "I think you need a new name." The pale hand encompassed his, very sharp claws pricking him lightly, aware of their ability to draw blood. "He's fine as he is, you'd just rather you were the only one confused with Batman, vampire." Tristan glowered, putting his had on Bahman's shoulder and dragging him to the kitchen, or at least where a whistling kettle sound was coming from.
"So you're my-Alexa's new friend? The teleporter, sorry about before. Thank you for looking after her. My name is Diana." A petite blond with glasses and a boyish grin bounded over to him. She was the girl in the chair, the other person who was very good with computers, a rival hacker and untraceable enigma. "Bahman." He stated, extending his hand again, as it was yanked into her overly excited possession. "Ohh excellent, Paul Batman's back."
"This is why…" Paul pouted back as he went to sit behind her, behind a mug of blood! "How do you take your tea? Can I have a DNA sample, blood's best?" She asked in one fluid motion, poring a boiled kettle into a large teapot, and setting out mugs, a milk jug and a sugar cube bowl on the table. He tried not to notice how mismatched the bits were, the sightly odd glow the milk jug was making, or how the vampire popped and stirred a white sugar cube into his blood.
"Neither of us will be having any at this time, would you kindly sit down as we need some answers." Tristan commanded.
"What are you going to do interrogate us? I want my lawyer!" The vampire chimed though his blood covered lips. "It's in the pot if you want it." Diana sat helping herself, casually bringing her Minion slippered feet up to rest on Paul's lap, the edge of the vampire's mouth crept up as he watched her. The were all but a couple, whatever they said they were obviously in cahoots. Until the shorter blond jumped up, and slammed her hands on the table, completely forgetting her mug of extremely hot tea as if flew all over the unsuspecting vampire's lap. "Did either of you get Alexa pregnant?" She shouted accusatory.
Tristan and Bahman shared a look. Tristan nodded in encouragement to the slightly shaking young man, it was he who uncovered it, and learning how to follow thought with something as important as this would be a vital life skill. "What did you do to D?" The bling, branded, and brightly coloured, lanky young man tried to loom over them. Alexa's cousin just blinked at them both blankly, though her horn rimmed glasses. The vampire behind had had a slight rise in heart rate, he did know something, but kept a cocky smile as he watched Diana sit back down in her seat pouring another cup. "What did I do to my uncle? Nothing." She resumed sipping at her tea cup, was she trying to cover up her tell? Was it lip or hand related?
"Not your uncle, there is no proof of either of you existing let alone you being family." Bahman continued, good lad.
"We have family, they're just not around." She smiled in a sad sort, more like an immortal than a human. Like a lone wolf like him, separated from a pack.
"And you, you were seen with D wounded on the day he disappeared, what's your answer?" Bahman was proving himself a brown integration machine, he smoothly accused the nervous vampire. Paul wasn't moving, Tristan who was used to the annoying fidget could tell he was trying his hardest to control every aspect he could, his heart, his breathing, and his body. But his line of sight kept dashing around, only ever focusing on Diana. "That's the silence of someone guilty right there. Tristan what do think?" Bahman had made his first mistake, trying to whisper back to him. The whisper was easily audible to the vampire, who tried to hide a gulp. "I think we need Alexa here too." Tristan answered, not even attempting to whisper back.
"She's got nothing to do with what you're accusing Paul of. She knows he's a vampire, and probably killed D, she's accepted that." Diana sipped again.
"That is partially true. But she doesn't know the truth about you." Tristan fished, fishing out his phone willing his prey to fall into the trap. "The truth? Ha, what could that be?" She was mocking him, trying to hide it but grinning at her own knowledge and his lack. Tristan looked back to Bahman to reclaim the floor. "You are an imposter who has gained all of D's information, you have taken complete control of everything he owned, without existing before his death. Whoever you are you are the only one who gained anything from his death."
"And you are not human." Tristan finally let out, Paul jumped out of his skin.
"She's a vampire too?" Even Bahman's human eyes had seen Paul's reaction, and asked the room. "No. She's something else. Not human in any way. I can't believe I hadn't noticed, Alexa hadn't noticed either but I should have. Get Alexa."
"No!" Diana launched for the phone, falling in a heap on the floor. "It will break her heart!" She clung to his Tristans leg like a toddler, he shook her off impulsively.
"Her heart! You should have thought of that before you killed him." He growled at the joey that wouldn't leave the pouch.
"What do you care, she'd been worrying, half morning with no answers. Do you know how that feels? To know nothing, when a loved one could be hurting and you could be helping them, or the only reason they have died is because you couldn't find them?" Bahman shocked all of them, what else did the lad know? "It's better not to know they're lost, trust me." Diana unhooked herself from his leg and brushed herself down as she replied impassively.
"That's the thing, none of us do and Alexa shouldn't either. Paul?"
Paul couldn't help himself. "Don't ask me, I just helped the…" He stopped himself, causing them all to focus on him, "The? Out with it young man." Tristan's glare was making him sweat, it was too much pressure to not flippantly say. She was a flipping alien! Aliens exist and that is awesome, there's also a time traveling large upturned chest upstairs, I've seen the future! He struggled to get out, "It wouldn't be the worst thing to admit Di." He looked to the strikingly beautiful sad alien, it was her secret to tell.
"She can't handle it, there's too much…"
"Out with it, she's handled a lot!" Tristan barked.
"I second that, there's me, in my marvy unkillableness, my sister, Sarah ghosting it, that wolf, being a wolf, and whatever the new guy is!" He pointed to himself and gabbed a claw to the other creatures to prove his point. He was super old but even he could admit skuzz had hit the fan in her short life. And respect to her, she'd handled most of it.
"I've known her for so much longer, she can't anything outside her way of thinking is." Di stopped herself. "Let's say D told me she had OCD."
"A werewolf cannot have OCD."
"Is that a fact?" She glared challenging the wolf on his facts.
"You just raised her very strictly. Without breathing room to question you or make her own decisions." Bahman cut in before Tristan could expand.
"I didn not! Paul tell them it wasn't my choice!"
"She's an alien! I'm going to go, teleporty boy take me to a bar!" Paul shot up, making a b-line for Bahman, grasping him by both shoulders making as much contact as possible.
"No." Bahman squinted at him in defiance, great even the human wasn't scared of him anymore. Paul was done and stalked out.
The rest all stood in silence, cogs whirring, trying to figure out what to either say to get themselves out of the situation, or process all the unbelievable information.
Bahman twitched a little. "So, you're an alien that ate her father?" He looked to Tristan for clarification, he had that look again, like when he had popped into existence right next to him. Annoyed.
"You should tell her, but a daughter deserves to know her father has decided to have a sex change, and a lot of plastic surgery." Tristan growled. Bahman wondered if he'd listened to the vampire properly, aliens were mentioned, not sex changes.
"See they're almost there!" Paul pranced to the doorway, with a drinking straw in a fresh blood bag, and a disturbing red tongue to match the lips.
"Paul!" Diana shouted back at the snacking vampire. It didn't look as cool as Bahman had imagined, a vampire causally drinking blood from a hospital blood bag, something about the sight maybe the smile on Paul's face made his stomach churn. "I didn't choose to be female young man!" Diana cried at them all.
"What? Then what happened?"
"Fine, I'm an alien, correct, but I didn't eat myself, there are very few species' that find earthlings to their tastes. Other than ironically other earthlings like vampires of werewolves, but neither of those earth based species' have found a way to cross the stars yet. I, my species has a habit of cheating death, I almost died as D and became this, which for a reason unbeknownst to me changed my gender. Oh and the vampire over there, trying to sneak out again infant of a kitchen full of very aware intelligent beings, didn't kill me he happened to appear in my moment of need and helped me, unexpected compassion for a vampire I know I am studying it and his interactions with me, I also agree to teach him and clearly revealed I am an alien. Alexa has nothing to do with any of this so I still think leaving her in hope is the best thing. To conclude D is me, I am D and couldn't think up a better name for myself under pressure than an elongated version of the letter, thus gaining the new name D-iana. That is all. Now drink your tea give me a wolfy blood sample and get out. "
"Werewolves don't eat people." Tristan growled at her but took a seat and his mug. Bahman watched in awe, at the were-cop he'd believed all that? That was a straight up anime plot right there.
"And according to my research they sometimes consume a human person, when they attack them on a full moon, that is a fact we will not disclose to my daughter."
"I don't mind agreeing on that but, you should tell her, you've been pushing her away by not trusting her with all the facts."
"She want's to know the truth, that's what she deserves at the very least." Bahman added.
"The not knowing is kinda killin her." Paul finished.
"What do you mean?" Diana the alien asked the vampire, fresh worry plastered all over her face.
"You taught her, raised her to try to save people. Even I can see she's lost the only two people in the world she loved. Only her stupid 'destiny' which we made up is keeping her going! Have you actually looked at her properly this year?" Paul swooped in beside the alien girl, he slipped off her glasses and swept her hair behind her ear. Then caressed her cheek affectionately, Bahman looked away the moment looked too private for him to watch.
"You made it up." She gulped.
"Time travel is bloody confusing."
"You-you don't say." The wolf stated in his husky annoyed gravel. "Bahman, please tell Alexa to come home, I'll keep the alien company while it prepares itself. Thank you." The wolf finished. Bahman nodded and then disappeared in a glinta glint of his golden chains.
