Chapter 19

He decided to scope out the city.

Junpei felt terrible that he passed out instead of helped Yuuji combat the divine users, but Fushiguro insisted it wasn't his fault. "Nobara and I passed out too, don't blame yourself."

Still, Junpei didn't like the feeling. So he retraced his steps and tried to find some more information about the incident. The divine users were sneaky, because of their energy, he cannot sense them, but perhaps that is because there isn't a method for it. He learned from Sho that he has digested the divine users that tried to kidnap Yuuji in broad daylight. However, after he ate them, his stomach was upset to say the least. "Remind me not to do that again," he called to the brothers. "I couldn't properly eat for a little while after. I think it's the energy. I know little brother Yuuji has to be careful with the two he is able to control."

Still, he wondered what he could do to help out. "Since I am connected to blood most of all for my strength, I wonder if I can use that to my advantage as well…" he wondered aloud. After all, divine users have blood in them too!

He paced about the rooftop that overlooked the city, wondering if he ingested some blood from the divine, that perhaps he could sense divine energy. However, if Sho got an upset stomach just from eating five sorcerers, then the idea may not be a good one.

"Still, there has to be something I could do…" he said aloud. Then. "AHCHOO!" he sneezed as his body shuttered. "What the hell… is someone talking about me?" he muttered.

Meanwhile.

He was summoned to the Kamo household.

Word soon reached the head of the house as to what occurred during the student event in Tokyo, and today, they sought answers from the future head. Noritoshi came before the elders of the family, his face solemn as he lowered his head to them in greeting.

"… elders…" he said respectfully.

They sneered at him. "What is your excuse?"

He raised his head, yet swallowed his pride as he spoke. "I have none." He simply stated. "In fact, I feel after being defeated by this student, that I am not the one who should be head of the family anymore."

They whispered to each other. "But you are going to be, you have the inherited technique."

He fell silent for a moment until he said. "What if I told you, there is another with this ability?"

Looking to the elders, they froze. "Another illegitimate child?!" one cried out.

"I don't know if he is or not. However, his skills are beyond my own. His ability to control blood and use it surpasses my attacks. I have never met him before until that day, he was introduced as a new student to us."

"What makes you certain this was blood manipulation?"

"He utilized it far better than I could. He was able to contort it into a whip, he makes wings from the blood to fly in the air, and he can also use it as a means of evading that I never thought possible. He's far more refined in this skill than myself. Which is why I bring this to your attention now."

Murmurs began once more. "What is the name of this sorcerer?"

"Junpei," he simply stated. "But elders… I also believe he is a curse."

Their looks altered once more as they were stunned silent. "A curse? How could a curse have such control over the family blood line ability?"

"I don't know what to tell you, elders. But all I know is that he is more powerful than myself. I have seen one other with such skills, one of the curse wombs named Choso…"

"You spoke of him before, we won't ever entertain that notion of bringing such a vile thing into the family… and the one you speak of is the same as this Choso?"

He nodded. "I have seen the curse womb Choso when I first met Junpei… he called him brother."

Silence befell the elders. There was something going on here that Noritoshi even took notice. "Elders, before you decide such action, please take into consideration his talents and abilities, as well, currently, I am one of the very few in this family with blood manipulation technique…"

"We heard enough,"

Noritoshi silenced himself.

"We will not speak of this any farther, you are dismissed, but tell no one of this conversation, let alone of the student who bested you in our family's noble ability!"

"Yes elders…" he stood to leave, yet at the same time. He felt a pit in his stomach. Did he just send these elders a signal to go to war against Junpei and his brothers? He hopes he didn't. After all, if Junpei is that powerful, how strong are the other eight who he calls brother?
