Résume : Draken and Mikey met a girl few days after they met each other. This girl held their heart, held their friend's, held the Toman's. This girl gave them her life.

MAYBE ONE DAY

"Why the fuck are you arguing?" she screamed. The boys looked at her, startled by her voice. The taller one had his fist firmly gripped on his friend's t-shirt, and the other one had his foot held high, ready to hit. Both of them took a step back, releasing each other reluctantly. They pinched their lips, avoiding their friend's gaze. "Give me an answer before I make you do!" Despite themselves, they held back a laugh, knowing that the little girl could absolutely make them spill the tea if she wanted to. She had always had the upper hand.

"We have a… disagreement," spoke Draken. "Mikey wants Pah free. I want him to assume what he did. It's his own choice." he explained. The said Mikey replaced his crumpled shirt and shuddered. This discussion was throwing him out of his comfort zone. His eternally happy face and cheerful attitude hid his discomfort concerning his feelings, and insecurities regarding his choices. Yet, no one knew that side of him but Draken and this girl. Mei. She seemed to always have been in their lives. She was a constant, a shadow behind them, watching over two hotheaded delinquents.

"Well," she said "I actually don't give a fuck about the reason behind your argument. You're destabilizing the Toman with your bullshit! I heard from Matsuya that the gang is divided into two factions. If you don't do anything about that, you're gonna destroy what you've been fighting for over the years. You need to realize that you're not just the leader and the number two of the Toman but also the base of it. If you're not stable, then the gang is not either! Please be careful, I don't want to see the Tokyo Manji crumble because of a stupid argument."

Now, she seemed more upset than angry, they thought. She had reddened as she screamed, but that last sentence just brought some tears to her eyes. She was attached to the gang, even if she was not officially a member of it. The principal members knew her and often asked her for advice as if she was a part of the Toman, and some even considered her as a founder. The Toman didn't belong to her, but she did belong to it. She was their heart and sometimes, she put their leaders to their places and resolved their disagreements.

"Now please take a step back and explain yourselves. I'm gonna grab something to eat. When I'm back, I want you back to your usual selves." She pointed a menacing finger and whirled to escape. They knew that she only was off for a few minutes, but they still moved forward, trying to join her. They didn't want her out of sight. When they saw the other taking a step forward, they stopped, embarrassed.

Eventually, like they always did, they reconciled with each other, and Mei offered them a soda and a melon pan that they ate on the riverbanks, the sun setting behind the horizon.

"Please, promise me that you'll always be there for each other and that you'll protect the Toman with everything you have," she asked them. Did she have a bad feeling? Did she already know that she wouldn't make it? Did she already know that her adventure with the Toman came to an end? They would never know, and soon, they only would have their tears to cry on.

Draken only could see a sea of blurred bodies, all fighting or falling against their opponent. He couldn't even tell who was winning, but he was confident about their victory. They would be the greatest gang of Tokyo, one day, and this battle was just a step that brought them closer to their goal. His fist hit harshly someone's jaw, and he threw his into another one's belly, making him retreat a few steps back. He could not really far from his position, and even didn't know where Mikey was, but that didn't matter, since Mei was just a few meters next to him. He watched over her like he promised that he would. He promised to himself, he promised to her, and mostly, he promised to Mikey.

That's probably because his attention was divided between his fight and hers that he didn't see one of his own gang approaching, his fingers holding firmly a blade. However, she saw it. She did see the blade, Kiyomasa's gaze, and the hatred emanating from him. And because her heart belonged to Tokyo Manji's Gang, she threw her opponent on his best friend and jumped on the knife's trajectory. She felt it piercing her skin, her muscle, and presumably even an organ. Her gaze met his. His eyes narrowed. Hers blurred.

She took a step back, making him release his grip on the handle, and fell against the small wall of the parking. She slipped to the floor, a large pool of blood, widening around her. She could smell it, sense it soaking his clothes, and with it, her life leaving her. It was the end for her. A saddened smile grew on her lips. She would die defending the Toman, just after reconciling her best friend and the boy she loved. As she remembered every moment spend with them, she felt happy. She had a beautiful life and there was nothing that she regretted. She even couldn't regret keeping her feelings for him secrets. It was better off.

Her eyes closed as the crowd shut her from Draken's sight. She died silently, a genuine smile remaining eternal on her face.

"Mikey! Draken!" Called a panicked voice. Upon the view opened by the fallen corpses of the fighters, Mikey met Draken's gaze. Both of them realized, at the exact moment, Mei's absence of the other's side. They turned their head towards the calling voice, and their eyes narrowed as they eventually saw Matsuya's prostrated shape. Just next to him, they could see feminines legs covered by blood, and an oversized sweatshirt that they knew belonged to Mikey.

Without even realizing it, they both rushed forward, their voice cracking as they desperately screamed their friend's name. Matsuya lifted his face tears falling on his cheeks, and he shook his head. It was over. Her body was still warm, but her heartbeat had stopped for a while, now. She was dead. The gang's members watched the scene, and everyone saw their leader and their number two collapsing next to a dead body that they recognized easily.

This day, the Toman's heart broke. This day, Draken lived, but she didn't. This day, they cried shamelessly.
They mourned their loss for years, until a man, trying to save his girlfriend, time traveled. Maybe this time, hopefully, they would be luckier, and they would know her feeling for them. Maybe she would be saved. Maybe she would live. Maybe.

I purposely didn't name the man she loved. It could be Mikey, Draken or even Matsuya. Pick the one you want. This is one of my first try in English, hope you liked it. I wanted to participate to the TR fandom.
