Chapter 13
The Duck Knight Rises
Darkwing can be seen on a t.v. battling the Liquidator. May can be seen with a bag of chips watching intently. Dewey then enters the room and observes this
" May are you watching Darkwing " Dewey asks curiously
" Yeah why " May answers mouth full of chips
Dewey them smiles checkily as May looks at him funny
" Why are you looking at me like that " May asked curiously
" No reason " Dewey says slyly
" Okay " May says confused
" May; your Aunt has arrived. Fetch your sisters " Miss Beakly says off screen
" Okay I got to go. Later Weirdo " May says a freaked out
" Hold on " Dewey says grabbing her before she leaves " Try and see if your Aunt will let you come back here tonight "
" Why " May asks flatly
" It's a surprise " Dewey says with a wink
Launchpad looked excited as he crossed the bridge that led into St. Canard.
" Any particular reason why we are going to St Canard tonight " May asks curiously
" Just going to see an old friend " Dewey says with a smirk
" Okay who " May asks
" Oh just someone by the name of Darkwing Duck " Dewey says confidently
" So you're telling me you know Darkwing Duck " May asks in a whisper
" Yeah " Dewey says
" The Darkwing Duck " May says again in a whisper
" Yeah " Dewey says confidently
" I love Darkwing Duck. He's my favorite superhero " May says
" Mine too " Launchpad says from the driver seat
" I could tell you were a fan " Dewey says matterafactly
" I've seen every episode of his show a least three times " May shouts
" Me too it's always nice to meet another fan even though we technically meet earlier " Launchpad says turning in his seat
" Launchpad maybe let's keep our eyes on the road " Dewey says
" Daring duck of mystery/ Champion of right/ Swoops out of the shadows " Launchpad starts to sing
" Darkwing owns the night/ Somewhere some villain schemes/ But his number's up " May sings joining in
" Darkwing Duck (When there's trouble you call DW)/ Darkwing Duck (Let's get dangerous)/ Darkwing Duck (Darkwing, Darkwing Duck!) " May and Launchpad sings together
Launchpad wingles his fingers and breathes:
" Chills "
" I can't believe I get to meet the real Darkwing Duck tonight " May says eagerly
" Well believe because it's happening " Dewey says matterafactly
" I can't believe you know Jim Starling. This is the best night ever " May practically shouts
Dewey and Launchpad look confused before they look at each other concerned.
" What " May asks
Launchpad pulls into an alleyway and the three of them get out.
" I heard Jim Starling went missing but who would have thought he was in St. Canard this whole time " May exclaimed
" Uh yeah about that " Dewey tried to explain
They enter the building and May immediately runs over to the Ratcatcher.
" An exact replica of Darkwing Lair" May screams
" Replica " Launchpad repeats
A shadowy figure can seen standing on a rail on the Upperdeck
" I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am the zapper that shocks the bug of crime. I am Darkwing Duck " Darkwing says before he jumps down onto the Ratcatcher
" And he's in costume. Oh my gosh I am such a huge fan….. Wait you're not Jim Starling. You're that wannabe Darkwing " May says disappointed
" Wannabe " Drake says dejected
" Who you calling a wannabe " A voice says off screen
The voice belongs to none other than Gosalyn who steps onto the screen
" You heard me. I've heard about this guy, he's a chump. Always losing fight " May begins
" Hey I've won fight " Drake contests
" Always letting the villain get away " May continues
" That was one time " Drake defends
" And causes alot of collateral damage " May ends
" I I...I try " Drake says quietly
" Not enough " May says
" Hey orange girl Drake is doing his best " Gosalyn says getting up in Mays' face as she does
" Gosalyn you're not suppose to use my real name around people we don't know " Drake says in a whisper
" Wait Drake. Why does that name sound so formular " May questions
" What? What are you talking about? Drake is a common name " Dewey says frantically
Everyone else is looking worried as May puts her hand on her chin in thought
" Before the Darkwing movie got cancelled, there was a guy set to play the new Darkwing. Uhh Drake Mallard I believe. Yeah I think that's it. You're the guy that was supposed to play him in that cancelled Darkwing movie. " May exclaimed
" Nice going Gosalyn " Drake says wryly
" My bad; I just didn't like this orange girl talking smack about you. Who are you anyway " Gosalyn asks as she narrows her eyes
" Who am I? Who are you " May asks back
" May, this is Gosalyn. Gosalyn this is May " Dewey says introducing her.
" Your girlfriend is rude Dewey " Gosalyn says flatly
Dewey looks surprised at this statement, while May just kind of stares at Gosalyn.
" She's not my girlfriend. Tell her May " Dewey tries to explain
May frowns upon hearing this from Dewey
" Tell her we're not an item " Dewey says frantically
" Don't be silly. We're not together " May says plainly
" See. Glad we cleared up that silly confusion. Right " Dewey said eagerly
" Right. I'm going to go look at the supercomputer" May said with a hint of annoyance in her voice
" You okay? You're acting kind of weird " Dewey says
" I'm fine " May says as she walks away
Gosalyn has a knowing look on her face as this happens
" Did I do something wrong " Dewey turns and asks Gosalyn
" Oh Dewey you got a lot to learn about woman " Gosalyn says as she puts her hand on his shoulder
" Crime dected " Wanda yells
" What's happening " May asks frantically
" We got trouble " Drake shouts as Wanda pull up a map of the city
" There a robbery going down at the bank " she explains
" You're computer talks " May asks confused
" Yes is there a problem with that? " Wanda answers and asks
" Alright May you're going to see a real superhero in action " Gosalyn says confidently
" Alright everybody hop onto the Ratcatcher and lets go " Drake says as he get to his motorcycle
Launchpad eagerly hops on back
" Wait so it's not a replica. It's actually functioning " May asks
" Of course it functions. You think I just have this here for show " Darkwing explains
" Yeah I've always wanted to ride the Ratcatcher but is there enough room for all of us " May asks
Gosalyn gets on back as well
" Yeah let's go " Gosalyn says unceremoniously " You and Dewey are going to have ride in the side car though "
" Come on. Let's ride in the side car " Dewey says as he jumps into the sidecar May shrugs and get in as well
" It's kind of cramped in here " May complains
" Yeah it's a bit tight with the two of us " Dewey as he turns and realises just how close they are to each other. Gosalyn sees and grows a grin on her face. Dewey stares at May before blushing.
" What " May says
" I just never notice how good you look in the moonlight is all " Dewey says causing May to blush
" Oh well you're not too bad looking yourself Dewey " May says back
" Aw " voices can be heard saying
The two turn to see Launchpad, Gosalyn and Darkwing looking at them
" You two are so cute. You sure you're not boyfriend girlfriend " Gosalyn says teasingly
" Hey Dewey, if you ever need some advice about girls come talk to LP " Launchpad says
" Alright enough of that because the only thing we are about to flirt with is danger" Darkwing says triumphifly "Now if you could all put your helmets on before i take off here "
The group blasts off down the street towards the bank in question
" Yyyyeeeeaaahhhhh " Dewey screams
" I got to get a video of this. " May says as she takes out her phone and starts recording " What's up? So guess what? I'm riding on the Ratcatcher. The Ratcatcher. Unfortunately I'm riding with this fake Darkwing Duck "
" Hey " Darkwing said
The group arrives at the scene. They park just out of view of the bank robbers. They all get out and peek around the corner
" Alright there are only ten of them. Call the authorities kids. Launchpad be on standby I think I can take these guys but I may need your help " Darkwing says in an over the top manner as he goes to the actions
" This is going to be good for my show " Dewey says excitedly as he pulls out his phone
" You have a show " May asks curiously
" It's a small show that I have online " Dewey says excitedly
" How small " May asks
" He has twenty two subscribers and most of them are family members " Gosalyn says flatly
" Whatever. This video will double my viewership. I'll go from twenty-two to fourty-four. I'm going to get a closer look at the action " Dewey says
" So enthusiastic " Gosalyn states
" Right isn't he great " May says dreamily
" Huh " Gosalyn says as she turns to look at May
" I said I hope we are not out to late " May fixes
Gosalyn moves closer toward May
" Hey tell me something. Girl to girl. You like Dewey don't you " Gosalyn asks
" What makes you ask that " May asks back frantically
" Come on " Gosalyn as dryly
" Is it that obvious " May asks despondently
" Uh yeah " Gosalyn says wryly
" Maybe my sister June right about me being too obvious " May says
" To everyone except him " Gosalyn says plainly
" It's wasn't obvious to me either until a couple weeks ago. Anyway please don't say anything to him." May pleads
" I won't. This will stay between us girls but I'm pretty sure he likes you back " Gosalyn says confidently
" You think so " May asks with hope in her voice
" Trust I can tell. You should just go for it " Gosalyn says
" I don't know. I don't think he's really looking for a girlfriend right now and I don't want to mess up my friendship with him " May explains
" Those are some weak excuses." Gosalyn says shaking her head before turning and looking at him " I'm telling you that boy is head over heels for you he just doesn't know it yet "
" Hey girls come check it out " Dewey shouts while he continues to film
Darkwing punches one of the thugs that rushes towards him. Another thug runs up behind Darkwing and he kicks that one away. Another drive at him that Darkwing dodges by ducking.
" Maybe he's better than I thought " May says surprised
Darkwing is then knocked down by a thug with a pipe
" Oops spoke too soon " May quickly states
" I'll edit that in post " Dewey states
" Don't worry DW I got you " Launchpad screams as he rushes over and punches out said thug
" You okay Darkwing " Gosalyn says as she rushes over towards him
" Please nothing can stop Darkwing Duck " Darkwing says as he stands and rubs his head
" That pipe almost did " May says under her breath
" What was that " Darkwing asks
" Nothing " May says
Everyone just looks at May
" What " May asks she puts her hands up
" Let's tie these guys up for the cops " Darkwing says while narrowing his eyes
" Okay " May says as she walks towards the rest of the group
A shadowy figure lowers down grabbing May before going back up
" Come on May. Come help " Gosalyn says before calling for her again " May? May? Where'd she go "
" May this isn't funny? Where are you at? May " Dewey says frantically
Maniacally laughter can be heard from above them. They look up to find a figure in an outfit similar to Darkwing except it's red and yellow instead of purple holding May and standing on a building. He quickly run away with May in tow
" Let go of me " May screams as struggles out his grip
" He's got May " Dewey says with worry on his face
" Quick after him " Darkwing says
They track him to the suspension bridge where he is standing atop the tower. They corner him as his face comes into view.
" Jim Starling " Launchpad says surprised
" Wait really? It is you " May says astonish
" You sturvived the explosion " Darkwing asks stunned
" That's right faker and I don't appreciate you stealing my role " Jim says
" What do you mean " Darkwing asks confuse
" You think you can just come and pretend to be Darkwing " Jim says menacingly
" I'm not pretending anymore " Darkwing states
" Neither am I. You think you can just decide to be Darkwing for real. Fine but I've decided to do everything in my power to ruin you. I'll become your nemesis. I am Negaduck " Jim states
" Launchpad I think the explosion scramble his mind " Darkwing whispers
" Another enemy. A couple more of these and you'll have your own rogue gallery " Launchpad happily states
" Mr. Starling I know this is a bad time and you are also kind of a villian but can I have your autograph " May says starstruck
" Oh great another one " Gosalyn says unenthusiastically
" Jim Starling, you have ten seconds to let her go or else I'm make you wish you had died " Dewey says threateningly
" Dewey " Gosalyn surprised
" I think Dewey's mad " Launchpad states
" You're just a small child what are you going to do….. " Negaduck starts but is cutoff as Dewey punches him in the face. He goes for another punch but is slapped to the ground by Negaduck before it can land. Dewey gets up again and tries rush at Negaduck before he moves towards the edge of the toward holding May by her shirt
" Drop her now " Dewey screams
" Okay " Negaduck say before dropping her
" No " Dewey screams rushes over to the edge to grab for her and catches her but falls off with her grabbing the edge before he does
" You're going to pay for that Negaduck " Gosalyn screams as she pulls out her crossbow and fires arrows at him. Negaduck easily dodges
" This is just a start, Darkwing. Things are only going to get much much worse " Negaduck says right before he swings away on his grappling hook laughing maniacally as he does. Upon seeing Dewey still holding onto the ledge he throws a bomb at them
" I think I can pull us up.. what is that? " Dewey says, looking at the ball that was thrown in their direction. As the ball hits the side of the tower it causes an explosion causing Dewey to lose his grip. As they fall they look at each other as Dewey says :
" Once again we find ourselves falling together "
" Doesn't look like we are going to make it out of this alive " May says
" Nope " Dewey agrees
" That's why I need to tell you something " May says softly
" What " Dewey asks softly
" I have a …. " May starts but is interrupted by Darkwing swinging down on his grappling grabbing them both in the nick of time
" Did someone call for a hero? " Darkwing says
They land back on the bridge safely that's when May turns to Darkwing and says:
" I take back everything I said about you. You're a true hero Mr. Drake. Thanks for saving our live "
" No problem all in a day's work " Darkwing responds
" Hey Dewey what was that back there " May asks curiously
" What do you mean " Dewey asks back
" You went a little berserk back there " May explains
" Well it's just that seeing Negaduck threaten you like that, made me really furious for some reason. I wanted to do anything and everything to get back no matter what. I mean I'm admitted a little impulsive but this felt different. I can't put my finger on what made me feel like that " Dewey explains
May then smiles at this statement
" Why are you smiling at me like that " Dewey asks a little uncomfortable
" No reason "
The group finds themselves back at Darkwings hindout.
" Well as always this was a fun night of crime fighting but I got to get these two home " Launchpad says
" I'm going to see what I can dig up about Negaduck for next time. As always it's been a pleasure Lp" Darkwing states
" Later Dew " Gosalyn says as she holds out her fist
" See ya Gos " Dewey says as he fists bumps her
" It was nice meeting you May even though you are kind of rude " Gosalyn says
" It was nice meeting you too Gosalyn " May says back
May and Dewey walk aways as Gosalyn says
" Good night you two love birds "
" For the last time it's not like that " Dewey says
The limo pulls up in front of an apartment. From inside the limo Dewey turns to look at May as they stop
" Well this is my stop " May says
" Sorry tonight didn't go as planned " Dewey says sorrowfully
" Are you kidding me? This was a blast. I got meet Gosalyn who's pretty cool, I got to ride around in the Ratcatcher, it was also pretty cool meeting Jim Starling even though he tried to kill us " May says excitedly
" Yeah that happens alot around us. Oh well I'm glad you had fun " Dewey says with a smile
" I always have fun when I'm with you " May says cheekily
" Oh well I always have fun when I'm with you too " Dewey say back with a blush
May opens the door about to step out when she stops:
" Oh one more thing "
" What are you forg… " Dewey is cut off as May kisses his left cheek
" Night Dew man " May says after she pulls away from him blushing and leaving the limo
Dewey just sits there stunned blushing like crazy, that's when Launchpad leans over and says:
" I told you Dewey anytime you need advice come to me "
" Okay Gosalyn. You win there it might be like that after all " Dewey says still stunned
