Lucas stirred on the couch. His eyes slowly opened to a dark room. He looked all over the room to try to gather where he was at. He thought he was in his living room when his eyes landed on a picture of his brother's family on over a fireplace. Quickly he realized he was at Nathan and Haley's house. Ava Joy and him must have slept over. It surely had happened before.

Noticing his throat felt scratchy, Lucas went to sit up to get a glass of water. His leg tingled with numbness stopped him. He leaned over and grabbed his thigh and massaged it hoping to wake up the sleeping nerves. As he did that, he heard someone clearing their throat.

Lucas brought it his eyes over to the adjacent couch to see Nathan and Haley sitting there looking at him. "Well good morning." Nathan greeted with a certain edge to his tone.

A large yawn came out of Lucas and then he asked, "What time is it? Why aren't you two sleeping?"

"We are not sleeping because it is 2:30 in the afternoon." Haley answered with a tone as well.

"What?" Lucas exclaimed. "How long have I been sleeping?"

Nathan grabbed his wife's wrist, read her sliver watch, and read "Oh, just 18 hours."

Lucas's eye brows shot up in complete shock. Was he hung over? He remembered drinking the night before, but did not realize it was enough to cause him to sleep the day away. Suddenly he realized what had happened the night before. He nearly collapsed because of his leg. The last memory he had of the night was Haley going to inject him with the potent pain medicine.

"Did you give me the ne-" he started.

"Yes, I did Lucas." Haley spoke with more anger spilling through her tone.

Lucas watched his best friend and sister in law cross her arms and eyes turn angrier. If looks could kill, he would have dropped dead right then and there. He looked at his younger brother as well. Generally, Nathan was a lot less emotional then Haley…well in some ways…and offered any support if need be. But instead, the younger Scott looked almost as angry as his wife.

"Guys, what is going on?" Lucas inquired almost nervously.

"Why don't you tell us?" Haley snipped.

Lucas found himself further confused. He could tell he done something, but could not specifically put his finger on it. It wasn't that he wasn't willing to admit anything, but the meds made his brain foggy. He tried putting it together but his brain completely blanked.

"Really? You are going to play dumb with us?" Haley pressed.

"Haley, I have no idea what you guys are mad at. Want to tell me so I can know it too?" Lucas began a descent of getting defensive.

"How has your leg been treating you?" Nathan questioned.

At that question, Lucas shrugged and lied once more. "Not too shabby."

Haley was ready to pounce on him like a lion would a helpless zebra. "Really?"

Lucas gave her a confused look and replied, "Yes, really. Last night was the first time it really has bugged me in a while."

Lie number 63.

Haley's anger rose to a new level. She could tell he was lying to her husband and her faces. After all the years of the loyal friendship she could not understand for the life of her why he think he could lie about this.

"Bull crap, man." Nathan spoke for his wife and him.

When Lucas looked furthermore confused, Nathan put his hand on his wife's arm to let her know he had the conversation and continued to speak. He tried to keep his tone from rising.

"Your daughter says she has seen you like this on more than one occasion."

"Like what?"

Haley went to verbally shake him hard, but as she opened her mouth her husband touched her again reminding her that he had this part. "This." He answered pointing at his older brother's laying figure and propped up leg. "She has seen you in pain and recovering from the injection."

Lucas had to think of a quick defense to that statement. For having a brain that was foggy, he was able to think pretty quickly. Probably because he had become a master of his lies.

"She's six. She thinks she knows what she sees."

"That six year old knows more than any of us give her credit for and you know that." Haley finally blurted out. "I made an appointment with your surgeon and we are going to see her tomorrow morning."

Lucas went to argue that he was fine and didn't need to see Dr. Basil but as he went to open his mouth, Haley silenced him "You will tell her everything, do everything she tells you to do, regardless of how you feel about it. Got it?"
