Ch. 8: Dueling Personalities
November 2013: Week Four
Frankie's POV
Saturday: From Coffin Beans to Movies
Me and the ghouls are chilling out at the Coffin Bean at the maul. Melody informed me that Cleo's older sister just returned from Europe and has been getting Cleo to do her chores during the week while Ghoulia helps Cleo with her homework.
"I can't believe Nefera's been making your life a living hell again this past week, Cleo."
I wonder what Clawdeen meant by living hell? It can't be that bad right?
"Ugh, can't believe that bitch is back from Europe. Isn't she a fashion model or something?"
Melody added. Wow, she must be really pretty, just a bit vain at times like Cleo could be.
"Speaking of Monday night's party. You didn't miss anything."
Draculaura changes the subject by showing her iCoffin. Hey, it's that DJ who went to Cleo's party Monday night!
"Hipster Holt Hyde hyping up another big time bash."
Draculaura said the headline out loud posted on that Ghostly Gossip blog.
"That Hyde is way dreamy."
I did not really care much of Clawdeen and the girls gushing over the DJ guy, to me he sounds pretty obnoxious. Like someone else I know…
"Careful now, that's Frankie's crush you're talking about."
Pardon, Cleo? I perked up hearing the girls ooh.
"Come on, cut it out you guys. He is not."
I said feeling the volts pick up on my chair to the lightbulbs. Sigh, I hate being put on the spot sometimes. Draculaura looks at Cleo then outside the Coffin Bean.
"Hmm, speaking of Frankie's crushes, I see Jackson. Oh with Heath Burns, ignored."
Jackson? And of course his jerk cousin, not surprising. I look over to where Draculaura pointed out before she went back to reading texts on her iCoffin.
'Ugh, of course Heath's there. They are cousins, god knows how.' I thought.
What if Jackson was at the Robotics Club instead switching places with Heath being homeschooled? Least I wouldn't have to see his cockiness around school with his piercing red eyes, his teasing smile, his cinder scent…
I felt a blush coming to my face thinking of that evening when he caught me from falling before we went to the Graveball game.
"Frankie, you need to charge over there and shock some sense into him. He stood you up at Cleo's party."
Huh? What!? Clawdeen are you crazy?
"I-I don't know. I mean look Heath's with him of all things. And I already put up with him after school at Robotics club."
Which was true, I'd rather continue spending my weekends Heath-free thank you. I swear he intentionally tries to give me frown lines. I heard Melody scotch over closer to me.
"Want me to distract Heath for ya?"
It's Heath. He may be a jerk but a harmless jerk. Shaking my head to get the static off my lack and white locks I get up.
"Nono, it's fine. I can handle myself if things get weird."
Seriously, I was about to shock this jerk at Cleo's party if Deuce didn't step in. I have my volts to back me up! I then leave the cafe and go to the nearest bulletin board where the duo were.
"Hey Jackson, hi…Heath."
'Be cool, Francine.'
I said to myself, showing a half smile. Of course Mr. Hothead walks over to me in front of Jackson.
"Sup Four Eyes. Where's your glasses? Can't see without em?"
I swear I just want to zap that stupid grin off his face!
"Heath, can you give us a few minutes?"
Thank you, Jackson. At least someone respects boundaries. I see Heath turn around with his flames lit up upon seeing Scarah walk by.
"Oh, scorchin."
He leaves, tempted to see him get rejected. I was here to talk to Jackson.
"So, why didn't you go to the party?"
I asked him, crossing my arms confused at why he was not there.
"I-I did go. Well, I remember being outside trying to get my courage up. And then…"
He turns around with his head down. Well, beating around the bush much?
"Sigh, nothing. Guess I must have been so nervous I blacked out."
'Blacked out?' I thought, confused at what he meant by that.
"The loud music, and all those people, those kinds of environments just make me nervous."
He turns back to face me, owing an explanation.
Heath's POV
"Ow!"
I felt Scarah's left hand hit my right cheek before she walked away. How was I supposed to know she got a boyfriend? Oh well. I looked back at where my norm cousin and Four Eyes are at. Me being the Heathster, I hid behind a bulletin board where they could not spot me.
"What do you mean when you say blacked out?"
"Cuz, well…I have a personality disorder."
"Oh, I-I'm sorry. I didn't know…"
"N-no, I should be sorry. A-anyway you probably had a lousy time…"
Yeah, till she practically rescued the party with her volts thanks to your other, much cooler half.
"N-no it's all good. The party was cool, there was a great DJ. Maybe you've heard of him, Holt Hyde."
"Uh, actually, that's-"
Well, I'm bored of spying already.
"Oh, Holt Hyde's the awesomest! I got to carry his equipment last night, which I totally owned at!"
I said with a grin feeling my flames light up.
"Yes, thank you Heath."
Few seconds after my flames lit out, I walked over to my cousin and put an arm around his shoulder while staring at Four Eyes here.
"Hey, what are cousins for, right pal?" I said smirking while glancing over to Jackson then back at her.
"Is there something I need to know?"
"Yeah, tell her cuz."
I gave him a nudge, I noticed she was then staring straight at me. I felt my heartbeat skip for a moment, the hell?
"Sigh, there's this silent movie playing at the Revival House tonight. If you want, you can invite your friends."
"Yeah, okay! I like silent movies."
'Pfft, is she serious? They're a snoozefest.'
I thought. God, they're basically history documentaries without sound.
"Great, I guess I'll-well, we'll see you at seven."
"Awesome, it's a da-uh, day at the Revival House. Heh."
'Smooth, real smooth, Heath.'
I thought to myself. A date? Yeah right. I would never go out with a girl like her, she's a social freak.
"Later, Four Eyes." I said as me and my cousin left.
Frankie's POV
"Uh, right…" I said snarkily, replying back to them. What just happened?
A flash was right near me, blinding me for a bit.
"Ah, my eyes. Sigh, I should have worn my glasses today."
After quickly rubbing my eyes, I returned back with the ghouls at the Coffin Bean.
At the coffin bean…
"So? How did it go?" Melody asked me as I returned to the sitting area.
"Okay ghouls. We're just going to the movies tonight. He offered to invite you guys too if you want. It's no big de-"
Draculaura interrupted me.
"Have your bolts come loose? It's your first date, it's a huge deal!"
She shouts while putting both her hands up. It's not really a date if Heath's coming.
"It's too big a deal for Francine here to do all by herself with an American boy. So both Deuce and I will double with her."
"I'll put Clawd up on FaceTime. Clawdeen and Melody, you guys have got to come too."
"I wouldn't miss it." Said Clawdeen grinning.
"Oh yeah, I got nothing better to do tonight anyway."
Great, the more the merrier. Honestly, I prefer it that way as I won't feel socially awkward.
'Well, I guess you guys don't need me around to plan this so I'll just be going.' I said to myself leaving the maul to go home and get ready.
At the movies…
Heath's POV
Why did I even insist on coming here again? I could hear my cousin and Four Eyes quietly talking two seats down from me.
"This is so interesting."
"This is the most historically accurate. Monster-normie relations were not good in the 14th century."
"You're so smart, teehee."
'Ugh, man silent history films are so fucking boring. When I had to repeat History following my sophomore year at summer school, least those films had sound.'
"As long as I get to sit next to you, I don't care who else is around."
'Since when did my cousin learn pick up lines like that? Damn.'
I thought, maybe for smart girls like Four Eyes, I should tone it down.
"Clawd, hey Clawd? Are you paying attention?" I heard his girlfriend ask.
Thank god Clawd is here with us, well, sort of.
"Ya, babe. Sorry, kinda studying here. Oh, man, it ain't over yet?"
"Fraid not."
I heard Deuce answer Clawd on the FaceTime call, but I was focused on what my cousin and Four Eyes are talkin' about while chewing my popcorn. Out of nowhere, I felt a popcorn kernel hit the side of my head. Here we go.
"A popcorn fight? Come on, bring it." I whispered while by accident dumping most of my popcorn on Clawdeen sitting next to me.
"Grrrr"
Okay, chill out sheesh. Don't wanna go back and clean the Pit of Horror again.
"Shhhhh, quit acting like such a child."
I looked over and heard Four Eyes turn her head towards me.
"Well excuse me for getting popcorn chucked at my red hot locks, Four Eyes."
"Ugh, screw this. I'm done taking notes for tonight. You know what it's time for? Some tunes!"
Thank you, Clawd! You are my bro for life. Bring on the dance party! As I got up to 'get down', I glanced over to see what would happen next hehe.
"Heh, sorry about that. Hey are you alright?"
"N-no. I-I'm sorry Frankie."
And there goes Jackson. Seriously, the guy can't survive a so-called date with a girl without having to make up an excuse.
"Jackson, wait. Sigh."
I see her then look back up to where I am.
"Well, are you happy now?"
Happy? I'm about to start laughing over here.
"Hahaha, what did you expect? I told ya so, remember?"
I said pointing a finger at her. Man, the look on her face is priceless!
"Psst, ignore him Frankie. Hyde coming your way."
"Huh?"
Wait, his alter ego's coming back?
"Frankie, Frankie, Frankie."
Fuck.
"Ya miss me?"
Miss you? Bro, she doesn't even know you! I see this smug bastard put his hand around her shoulder.
"Um, do you mind? I'm kind of on a…oh, never mind."
"Yeah, a date with me. Waooh! Love the music."
Before I could hop down to confront Holt, a camera flashes blinding me for a few seconds. As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw Four Eyes leaving the theatre.
'Where the hell's she goin'?'
I thought as I went up and followed her.
Few minutes later…
"Jackson, Jackson? You out here?"
"Yo."
I called out to her as I stood by the entrance. She turns around to me looking pissed as usual.
"Oh, what do you want? Came to rub it in my face again that I got stood up? Well, thanks for the tip but I don't need it."
I saw electricity coming from her, who let the werecat out of the bag on her? I held both my hands up as I walked closer to her.
"Relax, Four Eyes. I came to tell you something about Jackson."
"Don't worry, he told me earlier about his personality disorder."
"He tell you what happens?"
"Hmph, no. That's too personal to mention to someone they barely know."
"Alright look. I know you didn't believe me when I said back at Cleo's party when he hears music, he gets freaky when on the dance floor."
I said grinning remembering the look on her face that evening. She raises an eyebrow at me.
"Yeah so? You weren't kidding?"
Who jokes about having a condition like that, especially family?
"No. Think about it, when Jackson left, who do you think showed up shortly after?"
"…Holt?"
"Yup. And when did the music start playing?"
"…Right when Jackson said he had to leave."
Out of nowhere, we heard a door open then slam shut.
"Did you hear that?"
"Uh, yeah?"
"What the hell!? Not cool!"
A green light showed up by the dumpster. Well, guess Jackson's back, I prefer Holt but not trying to pick up Four Eyes here. I mean, he's too good for her, yeah.
"Wha-what happened? Oh, not again…"
Was I jealous? Nah, the Heathster doesn't do jealousy.
"Jackson? Is that you?"
"Dude you can come out, I told her about your disorder or whatever you got."
The nerd comes out from hiding behind the nearby dumpster.
"H-hi Frankie. Hey Heath."
"Hey, you okay?"
Of course he's okay, Four Eyes. Well, besides his pants which looked soaked from the bottom.
"Well I-sigh, I don't know. What's going on?"
"Jackson, I have something to tell you…I think I know what's going on with your personality disorder…"
I saw Four Eyes look away holding one of her hands on her arm.
"Y-you do? What is it?"
She looks over to me, then back at Jackson.
"Um, how do I put this?"
I walked up beside her and suggested to record a few videos.
"Want me to record and email you the videos?"
"Huh?"
Heard my cousin ask in confusion. Hey, it's better than going to your therapist.

While everyone else was having a silent movie party, Frankie asked Jackson a few questions while Heath recorded his responses on his phone. Then when Frankie played music on her phone to awaken Holt, Heath sarcastically poked fun at her taste in music.
"Justin Biter? Really?"
Heath replied snickering.
"My father did help resurrect his career. Sometimes he gives me tickets to his concerts."
Frankie replied smiling knowing she's a proud Justin Biter fan.
"Whatever. I didn't ask for the extra details."
"You know you could just put it in a more-"
"Justin Biter, rocks! Whaaoooooh!"
Shouted Holt as Frankie put headphones in Jackson's ears triggering Holt to appear while trying to not turn her head to where Heath is.
"Hey, what's goin' on Frankie fine? We continuing where we left off?"
Said Holt grinning flirtatiously winking at Frankie who was directly in front of him. Frankie rolled her eyes before proceeding to talk to Holt in order to get video footage.
"I want to ask you some questions, Holt. I'm keeping some music playing for this purpose."
"You got it. Ask DJ Hyde anything!"
Said Holt as he confidently pointed a thumb right at his blue face with a black side face tattoo on top of his orange hair which resembled fire more than Heath's.
Thankfully, the questions did not take up too much time before Frankie got a text from Draculaura.
Hey, Frankie. You okay? The movie just finished and we are all heading out now.
I'll be right out. Me and Heath found Jackson.
Oh okay, cool. We will meet you where you guys are at!

Tuesday: Totally Busted
Outside Headmistress Bloodgood's office…
"I am missing fear leading practice because your arm flailage broke a statue."
Said Cleo glaring at Frankie with her arms crossed sitting on the bench.
"Uh I beg your pardon? As I recall this was not my fault."
This morning…
As Cleo and Frankie were walking the halls, Frankie was holding her books while Cleo was texting on her iCoffin. Both collided into one another.
"Ugh"
"Hey!"
"Get away from me." Said Cleo, pushing Frankie's head off.
"Ugh, I'm caught" said Frankie with Cleo's bandage knocking her right bolt off which broke the stone statue behind them.
As both sit beside each other angry with their arms crossed, a horse neighs indicating Headmistress Bloodgood has arrived. She is holding her horse's whip behind her back, giving the girls a stern look.
"My office. Now."
As she opened the door leading to her office, the two girls followed and stood in front of her desk.
"A 2000 year old statue was smashed."
Said the Headmistress as she takes off her head before putting it on her desk before asking, "What happened?"
"Oh, it was an acc-"
Before Frankie could finish telling that it was accidental, Cleo interrupts her to fabricate the story while pointing a finger at her spectacled face.
"Here's the honest truth…"
"I command you to stop." Cleo said as she put up a hand against puppet Frankie.
"There is no telling what precious school property you might destroy. Oh no!"
"And that is how Frankie alone smashed the-"
"That is such bull-uh, the facts of that story are in such disarray, Headmistress."
Explained Frankie, almost letting out another swear word that could put her in detention again. And this time, she can't put the blame on a certain hothead fire elemental.
The Headmistress takes her head and holds it out to get closer to Frankie's eye level.
"For 2000 years, that statue has imprisoned one of Monster High's first instructors. Smashing the statue freed her."
Cleo let out a devilish smirk, knowing that she finally got the newbie exchange student in big trouble which will be a school suspension.
The Headmistress puts her head back on the desk, this time near the PA speaker.
"Attention students and faculty, Professor Irene Maiden has been freed."
Both Cleo and Frankie gasp in shock and confusion. The Headmistress directs her body to Frankie and shakes her stitched right hand.
"Frankie, on behalf of the entire student body, thank you."
"Wait, I helped!"
Shouted Cleo, wanting to take at least some credit for flinging one of Frankie's bolts toward the statue. The Headmistress turns off the speaker and lets Cleo know that she can go.
"Alright, Cleo. You can go on now to fear leading practice."
Cleo glared back at Frankie before leaving.
'I will find out your deepest and darkest secrets, new girl.'
"Yes, Headmistress."
After Cleo leaves, the Headmistress puts her head back on her body and looks down at Frankie, smiling.
"I see that over the last few months, you have shown monstrous progress. Your grades are exceptional."
"Oh, uh thank you Headmistress." Said Frankie as she sheepishly smiled while scratching the back of her head.
"Robecca has been telling me that the Robotics Club would not have still been here without you joining. She is grateful to your initiative on coming aboard."
"Oh yeah, hehe. It's been fun. She let me know that once the next scaremester starts, she will be more present during the club meetings."
The Headmistress then asked Frankie what her plans will be after graduating next year to which Frankie replies back saying she is not sure yet.
"Have you thought about plans for furthering your education here yet in America once you graduate?"
"Oh, uh actually I haven't thought about that yet. I would have to apply for a study visa and all that extra paperwork."
"If you have any more questions, the guidance office is always open."
The Headmistress said, smiling at the green skinned exchange student.
"Sure, thank you Headmistress."
"Your welcome, now then off you go. Enjoy the rest of your lunch before your afternoon classes start."
As Frankie left the office, her iCoffin vibrated again. Her mystery suitor texts her.
Heard you freed a teacher from a statue. Clawsome work. ;)
She texted back, 'Thanks. :)'
