Chapter (1) - Shipwrecked Again...
The scene opens to the Rangers testing out one of Gadget's latest prototype boats off the coast of Keys West, Florida. Much to the other's surprise, it appears no different from the one that was destroyed over a year ago that caused them to be stranded on a deserted island. She gently increases the throttle, causing the boat to rapidly accelerate to near uncontrollable speeds.
"Do we have to go this fast?" Chip asked.
"Yeah, you remember what happened last time?" Dale remarked.
"Golly guys, we need to ensure the Ranger Boat will work at high speeds. It's the only way to know if there are faults." Gadget explained.
The Ranger Boat hits a wave and sends it flying through the air and crashing back down onto the water. Monterey Jack turns a pale green from the rough seas.
"I think I'm gonna be sick." He muttered.
"Now let's see what this can really do." Gadget said, increasing the throttle.
Chip noticed an object in the water. "Look out!" He shouted.
Gadget swerved and just scraped the side of what appeared to be a fish with the side of the boat.
"I think we should slow down and head back to shore." Chip said.
While Gadget was preparing to turn, Dale was antagonizing yet another swordfish in the back seat.
"Mate, I'd be careful if I were you. You remember the last time?" Monterey Jack asked.
"Aw, you guys don't know how to have fun anymore. I was just playing around." Dale said.
The Ranger Boat then suddenly stops.
"Uh-oh, I think we ran out of fuel. There should have been enough. I guess I'll have to recalibrate that when we get back." Gadget said.
Dale looked back to see the fish heading straight for them. "Um guys, just how long is it going to take before we get more fuel?" He asked.
Chip turned back to Dale. "Why?" He asked.
"Because it's about to get a little bumpy," Dale said.
As he said it, the boat was struck and destroyed. The Rangers washed along the shoreline of a deserted island somewhere near Cuba.
"Is everyone okay?" Chip asked as he rang out his soaking hat.
"I think so." Gadget said.
Chip walked over and bonked Dale on the head.
"Ouch. What was that for?" Dale asked.
"For being stupid as usual. You got us shipwrecked again!" Chip said.
"It wasn't my fault. Gadget hit the fish with the boat." Dale said.
"Yeah, but you were the one who antagonized him. You caused him to sink our boat." Monterey Jack said.
"Gosh guys, it's not Dale's fault. I shouldn't have been so hard on the throttle." Gadget said.
"Gadget love, it was Dale that got the boat struck, not yours." Monterey Jack said.
Dale then walked off looking sad with his head hanging low.
Gadget turned to Chip and Monterey Jack and crossed her arms.
"Why do you always have to be so hard on him?" Gadget asked.
Chip's eyes widened. "Huh?" He said.
"Why do you always have to be so mean to him? He's not just a member of this team, Chip. He is your brother. You should be lucky to have a family." Gadget lectured.
"You're right, Gadget. I can be hard on Dale sometimes, but he does goof up a lot." Chip said.
"Regardless of how much he fools around, it doesn't give you the right to always hit and yell at him. Just try is all I'm asking of you." Gadget said.
Chip nodded. "I will. I'd best go find him. You, Zipper and Monterey Jack go start gathering materials for a boat." He instructed.
The rest of the Rangers went off as Chip walked down the beach to find Dale. On the other side of the beach, Dale sat on the piece of driftwood drawing pictures in the sand with a stick as he watched the sunset below the horizon. Chip walked over and sat down next to Dale.
He sighed. "I'm sorry about what I said back there." Chip said.
Dale didn't reply and simply continued drawing pictures in the sand. Chip glanced down at what Dale was drawing. It was a picture of two stick figures tossing a ball next to a tree. Both with smiles appeared to be enjoying the activity together.
"Who's that Dale?" Chip asked.
Before Dale could respond the tide came in and washed the image away. Chip put his arm around Dale's shoulder and pulled him closer. Both looked out at the setting sun.
"I promise I'll keep your feelings in mind next time, Dale." Chip said in a soft tone.
Dale sighed. "I'm sorry for causing the ship to sink, Chip." He said.
"I know you are, I forgive you. Come on, let's go back to the others." Chip said.
Both stood up and started walking back to the other side of the beach. On the way, Chip caught sight of a coconut tree and figured that bringing back some food would be a good way to mellow out the afternoon's drama.
"Come on Dale, I see a coconut tree." Chip said.
"What are we going to do with them?" Dale asked.
"Eat them of course, silly." Chip teased.
Dale smiled. "Okay." He said.
"Come spot me while I shake the tree to make sure no coconut falls on me." Chip said.
"Will do, Chipper," Dale said.
Although, Dale wasn't paying attention. He became distracted by a rustling in the bush. He turned away just as a coconut fell and struck Chip directly on the head. Chip collapsed unconscious.
Dale turned back. "Chip!" He exclaimed.
Dale tried to wake Chip up but it was no use. He then tried to carry him but wasn't strong enough.
"I'll go get help, don't go anywhere!" Dale said, running down the beach.
"Boss, I think I heard something." Meeps said.
"A Rescue Ranger!" Fat Cat shouted.
"Gosh, how did they find out about our plans, Fat Cat?" Mole asked.
"Shut up, Mole. Meeps, Snout, take care of him. Will drag him back to our camp and tie him up. The others will soon come looking for him and spoil my plans. Although, I have a better idea." Fat Cat said evilly laughing.
