Elmira was sitting in an arm chair watching television when the screen suddenly went to black. She grabbed the remote and pressed it but nothing happened. The front door flew open, and Drew and Rhea came storming in.
"What's going on?" Elmira asked confused.
"We're leaving," Drew said.
Elmira's phone started ringing.
"That's Elias," Rhea said. "We cut the power. Tell him there's a power outage."
"You can do this, love," Drew said. "This is your way out. Don't fuck it up now."
Elmira nodded and answered the phone.
"Elias?" She asked.
"Why did the cameras go black?" Elias asked.
"The tv died too. There must be a power outage. Hold on, let me check," she said.
She walked over to a light switch and clicked it a couple of times so he could hear it through the phone.
"The light doesn't turn on either. Want me to check in the other rooms?" She asked.
"No, it's fine," he sighed. "It's probably the whole neighborhood."
"Want me to go ask the neighbors?" She asked.
"Don't you fucking dare go forming new friendships around the neighborhood. Sit your ass down and wait for the power to come back," he said.
"Okay, I guess I'll read a book then," she said.
"You do that," he said.
He hung up and she looked over at Drew and Rhea. She slowly lowered her phone while nodding. Drew hurried over to her and hugged her.
"Let's get your shit," Rhea said.
"Remember all personal papers you have here too. Birth certificate, passport, etcetera," Drew said.
All three of them went to the bedroom and quickly got all her belongings. They threw everything in big trash bags and carried it out to Rhea's car. They left the house and drove to Rhea's place. Everything Elmira owned got put in the room Drew stayed in.
"How can I ever thank you?" Elmira asked.
"By healing yourself and going back to who you used to be," Rhea said.
Rhea smiled and handed Elmira some pills.
"Are these...?" Elmira asked.
"Abortion pills. I got them online. I had to turn to Reddit for help. There's a childfree subreddit and they were very helpful in guiding me where to go to purchase them safely," Rhea said.
"There's some awesome people in there," Drew smiled. "And I already loaded the bed up with towels just in case the bleeding gets too heavy. We're not ruining Rhea's bed. And most importantly, I'll be with you every step of the way. You won't be alone."
"I'm here too," Rhea said. "Elias can go stick his dick in a blender."
Elmira laughed. For the first time in a long time she smiled a genuine smile. It felt like she could do anything as long as she had these two by her side.
"Thank you," Elmira said.
"Don't mention it. I lost you there for a while but I'm ready to get my real friend back," Rhea said.
"Are you ready?" Drew asked.
"I just need some water for these pills, and the spawn of Satan will be gone soon enough," Elmira said.
"Spawn of Satan," Drew chuckled. "There's the woman I know and love."
