Hi guys, welcome to a new Xover that is the first of its kind on this website (and I'm pretty sure the entire internet). If your following me from Sonic DxD, this is the crossover I was talking about from there. I don't blame you if you haven't heard of the other franchise this crossover has, it was released at a very bad time and got overshadowed by huge hitters back in 2017. I was one of the lucky ones to catch it on its release day, but you can still find it on streaming services I think. I recommend not watching the anime except the first episode so your not spoiled, just to get a basic understanding as we will also cover what the anime DID NOT cover. If you do go ahead and try to watch the whole thing, heed my advice... DON'T get attached to the characters. The universe of SukaSuka/WorldEnd is very comedic (the humor is pure gold in my opinion along with the music), but also gets pretty dark. The English dub is also surprisingly faithful.
Before we begin, just like with Sonic DxD, here are some plot points to give you an understanding of what's going to happen:
1) The Chaos Emeralds will be introduced much earlier here than in Sonic DxD. The reason is because this fic is planned to be relatively short, maybe 15 - 30 chapters.
2) As mentioned once before, Sonic and Tails are gonna be the only main hero characters from their respective side. There might be some mentions here and there of the rest of their friends, but they will not be having anything to do with the main plot.
3) This fic will combine both anime and light novels of SukaSuka/WorldEnd, with its world and characters being very much aware of Sonic's existence. This will be since the main male protagonist, Willem Kmetsch, will already be friends with Sonic prior to the start of the series since his village was pretty much a next door neighbor to Green Hill Zone. Unlike Sonic DxD, this fic will only focus mainly on the Sonic games with a small portion of the comics.
4) Like Sonic DxD, the girls of this anime will NOT have romantic interest in Sonic or Tails and will only be close friends, even though they are not human and are practically in Sonic and Tails' age range.
Chapter 1: Prologue/Recap
(AN: Optional music: Sonic Adventure 2 - In the Groove.)
Sonic: (talks in a calm voice) Hey. What's up? I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog... I know. Not as energetic as I used to be, eh? Things have gotten... way past crazy. Heh, where do I even begin? It seems like only yesterday me and my buddy Tails stormed this organization calling itself: True World.
What was that company all about, you ask? It was originally a sword manufacturer, using magic and science to create powerful weapons called: Carillons, swords that were much like that one talking letter opener I once had to use. The only difference is, they were made by humans, for humans; so Mobians' like me couldn't use them even if we tried. In fact; they were so powerful, only certain people could wield them. Some could even rival the Chaos Emeralds depending on their ranking... Eh, that's all I really know about those things, though. You'll have to ask Willem or Tails for more details.
Since ancient times, the human race used these swords to protect themselves and fight off other races. Ogres', goblins', dragons', demi-humans', golems', catgirls', you name it. Thankfully, we Mobians' were pretty close with them, the ONLY race other than themselves that they trusted. Looks like the Great War in the early days of the Kingdom of Acorn was good for something, eh? Or maybe because how many times Mobians like me put our own lives on the line when others wouldn't or couldn't.
Anyway; True World was labeled as a terrorist organization after they started ransacking other villages, towns and cities; looking for the Chaos Emeralds. Why?... Good question. They kept everyone in the dark about it. People speculated it was their limitless power, or maybe their beauty so they could make a quick Ring. No one really knows, even today.
However, it was announced to the public that True World's new CEO after some guy named Nils retired; was someone who can only be described as a large round man, smart guy, good with robotics and had a huge ego to match his temper... sound familiar?
You know me and my buddy Tails were on the case. We settled into a village called Gomag City, where we met an old friend, Willem Kmetsch. He wanted to become a warrior known as a Brave and while he was strong and a decent spellcaster, he lacked battle talent... I'm not gonna lie though, he used to be able to outpace me sometimes with this energy he calls: Venenum. This same energy also made him lift at least twice what Knuckles can. Regardless, he ended up being the caretaker of this orphanage. We'd help out whenever we got the chance, but we still had an Egg to fry.
We eventually raced to True World, thousands of Eggman's robots and even some Carillon swordsmen tried to stop us as we were closing in, but we were too fast for them. I had my speed, Tails had the Tornado. We couldn't allow them to get the rest of the Chaos Emeralds. Even if we didn't know what they were planning, is it EVER a mistake to trash Eggman or his toys when he's involved?... Ok; I screwed that one time with that conch shell, don't remind me.
Speaking of the Emeralds, True World had already gotten five out of the seven of them... the last two of course, were safe and sound. The yellow one with me and Tails, and Knuckles had found the blue one on his island. Tails landed the Tornado after circling around a bit, firing missiles and such, and ran alongside me inside the company building when the way was clear. Still had to fight off security inside, but they were no match for us.
Eggman then confronted us when we reached the entrance to the Research Lab downstairs… we didn't exactly have clearance, ya know? We may or may not have smashed down a few doors… and walls… Funnily enough, old Egg-Breath didn't have a giant robot or anything to stop us this time. He tried calmly reasoning with us in his Egg Mobile... this was a new one.
(mimics Eggman's voice in quotation marks) "You meddlesome Furies... out of ALL the times to get in my way, NOW is the worst possible time!" He says. "Ha! When's it ever a bad time to trash your toys?" I said. You'd think he'd start losing his cool, just like all the other times… surprisingly, he remained relatively calm. He looked more disappointed if anything. He was then saying he didn't have time to argue with us or something, I wasn't really paying attention. I just Spin Attacked his ride and bounced off of it, Tails followed my lead by flying over. Eggman tried warning us again, but it was too late.
What we saw… *shutter* ugh. Nightmare fuel.
The lab was HUGE. Easily the biggest room in the compound, large enough for at least 5 Egg Carriers on top, bottom, AND sides of each other. Multiple floors of test tubes; cages for test subjects for all sizes of species, though empty at the moment; and large machinery. In the center of it all on the ground floor, the 5 Emeralds they had were placed in a chamber with 7 stands (5 of course being in use) surrounded by computers and pillars like an altar… kinda reminded me of the Master Emerald shrine in a way.
Jut what was this organization up too?
After floating past us again; Eggman kindly requested me and Tails one last time, though clearly annoyed at our intrusion, to just go home; leave them to their work, saying if we had ANY idea what he and True World were trying to accomplish.. we'd be thanking them. He even said he'd personally give us the Chaos Emeralds afterward, which was strange. It wasn't like Eggman to just give up an edge like that willy nilly... He had to be lying, right? This is Eggman we're talking about... though I've never seen him look that serious since the Space Colony was crashing to Earth…
We both refused, and that's when we engaged in battle with Eggman, who sighed in disappointment and saying we left him no choice. He used a few older robots with updated models and abilities; like the Egg Viper, Egg Hornet, and even this Wyvern-like one that seemed kinda familiar to me for some reason; to try and stop us. When we beat one, he'd hop into another with his Egg Mobile attaching to it. We did make a bit of a mess, especially with Eggman trying to ram us with those things, and he eventually used the Egg Dragoon. How many of those things does he have?
During that fight, me and Tails barely avoided one of its Drill Attacks... the computers at the Chaos Emerald chamber? Weeeeell...
Sparks were flying, either from the impact of the Drill or its electric after-effect, or both. The Chaos Emeralds also began reacting to the sudden surge of power, and were going out of control! The last thing I remember, was seeing a blinding flash of light, and me and Tails woke up in some old ruins. The landscape was pretty barren too. No trees, no grass, no water, no cities... no signs of life at all. So either the explosion wiped everything out, or Chaos Control occurred and we were sent back in time.
That is, until we saw a very odd-looking metal craft nearby the likes of which we've never seen before. Didn't look too advanced like something Eggman would make, having propellers on its several pairs of wings and a large body like a blimp. It was way larger than the Tornado, like a speck of dust in comparison, yet nowhere near the size of an Egg Carrier. Turns out, it belonged to a group of salvagers that were... "salvaging the surface world?" The heck was THAT supposed mean?! And why were there a bunch of Angel Islands' in the sky?!
What really got me and Tails' attention is that they had Willem with them, claiming to have found him in a block of ice. Was Willem caught in the Chaos Control too? Then why did parts of his body look like they were hardened? That never happened before. We didn't have time for 20 Questions cause we were attacked by... something. I don't even know what to call it. A Demon would be a friendly term for it.
You thought Perfect Chaos or Dark Gaia were terrifying?... *shutter* Ugh!... You have no idea...
Apparently, what attacked us was known as a Beast. One of Seventeen of them. Horrifying monsters that were deadly killing machines that destroyed the world centuries ago. They also couldn't be fought by conventional means, even me and Tails working together couldn't make a dent in the one that attacked us. We somehow still had our Chaos Emerald (don't ask us how though), and it did help... until the monster literally grew back a second later! It was like trying to fight those plants inside those green pipes, only they kept respawning everytime we smashed it.
Me and Tails tried, but we just couldn't destroy it no matter what we did. Even our combination attacks were completely useless, even WITH an Emerald boosting us. Just what was that thing? And where did it come from?
Thankfully, we got back to the ship with no one lost... on this run away according to this Borgle (AKA: a type of goblin) named Grick. Pretty cool guy, I gotta admit. He's the one who told us about that Beast thingy, and he's also a pilot like Tails. He even helped rebuild a brand new Tornado, making a carbon copy down to a Tee despite this worlds limited technology. We learned that the planet was overrun by these Seventeen Beasts. They not only destroyed everything on it in mere weeks, which made world maps pretty much useless, but also whatever remained of surface life. Mountains, lush green fields, lakes, cities... everything. The planet was reduced to giant dessert, with nothing we recognized left behind.
That unfortunately included the human and Mobian races, both of whom were thought to be long extinct. Grick and his team were also surprised about our Chaos Emerald, but were actually fully aware of it, having been told stories about them and having read about them from stone tablets they recovered during missions. They never found any of them though, ours being the first one they've ever seen. People of this time just assumed they must have been destroyed as well when the Beasts began their reign of terror.
That's when me and Tails realized: we didn't go back in time... we were thrown forward... Over 500 YEARS forward.
There was no way we could generate enough Chaos Energy for a time jump THAT far with just one Emerald. We were gonna need way more... but if they were all destroyed, then... *sighs, then chuckles* Sorry. Not used to hearing me talk like that, huh? I'm sure we can find a way back someday, maybe use artificial means? Not like I haven't done that before, right?... Still though, with no way of getting home, we had to set up shop here.
Me, Tails and Willem live with Grick on Sky Island 28 in the Town of Grimbjhal; its a decent place. Got shops everywhere, but the back is all wooded and mountainous. Perfect for running, but its kinda a mood killer when ya gotta suddenly hit the brakes before you fall off the edge. Fortunately, me and Tails go wherever we want in the Tornado from Island to Island, so its never too boring; but nothing can beat ye' old fashioned waterfalls and public access to loop-dee-loops.
Well, that's the story of how we winded up at the end of the world. Now the 3 of us are doing some shopping... not like anything interesting will happen today, right?
(AN: End music. Also, imagine the incoming location information being typed up like in SA2.)
XXX
Location: Sky Island 28, 2:00PM; Grimbjhal Town - Market Medlei, Western 7th Briki Shopping District
Business was bustling as usual in the marketplace. This area, known as Market Medlei, was originally set up to host a special marketplace held once a month. Over time, due to a series of unplanned constructions and building expansions, it transformed into an enormous labyrinth, daunting enough to distress any newcomers walking through this gargantuan maze. Various species' moving around, browsing merchants and they're items, as well as they're prices... moneys tight, even at the end of the world. As we see a few demi-human Sheep browse a vegetable section, we see a fox across the way with two tails chatting with one of the shopkeepers, who happens to be a deer.
"Thank you, sir!" The two-tailed fox said cheerfully, giving the shopkeeper a smile and handed him some money. The merchant smiled back and waved as the two-tailed fox walked away with a basket full of food and supplies.
At another stall, a male cat demi-human was handing a doggirl some kind of food, when a blue flash zipped by, making the shopkeeper brace from the sudden gust of wind along with the doggirl, though her hands dropped down to her long skirt as she gasped.
ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM, ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM!
From shop to shop, down street to street, along with the wooden platforms on the sides of buildings which lead to apartments; the blue flash continued to zip by. One merchant was cooking some kind of stew, fresh off the stove. The blue flash came by, picking up some ingredients from the shelf the merchants booth had.
"Thanks!" Said the blue flash, dashing by and taking all of items. Don't worry, plenty of money was left behind as payment. Of course, the G-Force of his speed blew the hot stew onto the merchant, who started screaming due to the hot stew covering him after a second of his mind processing what had happened.
A man in hooded robes, though it was mainly cloth to cover his face and head, walked in a crowd of more demi-humans calmly. He already got a few things he could put in his pockets, not bothering to carry baskets like his his two friends did... was that screaming he heard? The man groaned. "Sonic..." He mumbled to himself, already predicting what caused it. The Hedgehog hadn't changed a bit even after 500+ years, but seriously, in a town like this they needed to keep a low profile. Many species that lived on these Angel Island clones, more than 90% of them he was sure, blamed Mobians and Humans for the destruction of the surface.
Of course, those were the old names they're kinds went by. People of this time barely used those terms anymore. The new social term for anything with fur, horns, wings, tails, etc., were called: Featured or Marked. Anything else was labeled as a Markless or Disfeatured. Since Mobians looked similar to many demi-humans, they could pass for the Marked Class and could go around without causing a ruckus or people to stare; but it was their special powers that gave them away... much like a certain Blue Buffon was doing right now!
Mobians like him were referred to as: Mammalanians not only for the above reason, but also because of their well-known closeness to the Human race. While Humans were blamed more for the worlds destruction, the fact that Mobians were treated as equals unlike everyone else was viewed as unfair and discriminatory. As a result, the Mobians were also branded as traitors even though they offered to help humans in the first place. Speaking of Humans, they earned the title of: Emnetwhits, which translates to 'Plain Being' in the current worlds language.
Being animals themselves, Mobians clearly understood every word by the Featured even before all this, but Humans required a translator from the Mobians side, or a special talisman to communicate. This man had this item on him, but it was damaged when they found him in ice. It had long since been fully repaired, thankfully.
The two-tailed fox from earlier joined the man by walking over. The Hedgehog, known as Sonic, zipped over, causing other demi-humans to get shocked by his sudden appearance. While some did go back to their normal routines, others stared in slight aggravation, knowing who this was. The man glanced down at him. "Was that really necessary?" He asked.
"You kidding?! They had chili powder AND franks on sale today! Ya know what that means?" Said the Hedgehog, happily. Then showing off what he got. Why did he get only franks and powder in his basket?... Something about his favorite snack, perhaps? Both the two-tailed fox and the man groaned, but before they could respond to him, a random pot fell from above out of nowhere, almost hitting one of them! Where'd that come from?
"HEY! BE CAREFUL UP THERE!" One demi-human, who looked wolf-like, yelled up to the rooftops with his fist in the air. He assumed it was a black cat demi-human, who was leaning on the railings up there.
"Don't look at me! That Mammalanian's running around again!" Defended the black cat, leaning down some more as he spoke. It was his item as he sold cookware; such as hard metal pots and very sharp kitchen knives; but it wasn't his fault.
This caused the two-tailed fox and clothed man to glare at the Blue Hedgehog, who looked nervous under their gaze. "What. Did you do?" Asked the fox.
"Nothing! I swear!" Sonic insisted, honestly.
"You also said that when you blasted through construction zones..." said the man in a monotone tone.
"That was our first week here, and a total accident!" Said Sonic while holding an index finger up, then waved his arms to his sides... not denying the story either.
?: For crying out loud! GET BACK HERE!
CRASH!
A black cat was running... no, not the demi-human. An actual black cat, who had a blue item in its mouth, and just knocked over some empty paint cans across the floor. For the past few minutes; it winded through the narrowest alleys, jumped over the highest walls, and hopped gracefully between the tops of roadside stalls; sprinting at full speed. Why? Probably to escape from its pursuer.
"STOOOOOOOP!" Cried the pursuer, trying desperately to keep up with the speedy little demon she was chasing. It was a young girl, who for what felt like an eternity she was chasing this cat. She just barely squeezed her way through the narrowest alleys, clumsily rolled over the highest walls, and fell down loudly from the tops of roadside stalls (while getting yelled at by the shop owners). Despite the struggle, she kept her blue eyes focused straight ahead, intent on catching the black cat.
The girl drew stares from various people, looking up at the commotion, which included our 3 heroes. They saw the girl, running along the same platforms Sonic was on before. She even jumped off over the end of one platform just to catch the cat who due to its small size could easily transverse the pathways. What an idiot. She could get hurt as it was a decently high drop from that high up, but she wasn't thinking obviously. What was she doing up there anyway, and why was she chasing that cat for?
The girl wore a rather plain outfit: a gray hat, worn low so as to almost cover her eyes (which she held down as she ran), and a coat of the same color. Judging by that combination, she probably wanted to stand out as little as possible, but her screaming at the cat and running like a madman undid whatever effect her clothing choices had. The hem of her coat flapping up and down, the girl continued her pursuit, dashing without thinking of what could happen if she lost balance up there.
Seriously, what was so important about that cat?
Both the cat and the girl knocked off other things as they continued to play cat and mouse: two potted plants and three more paint cans. These items were heading right for some bystanders below! Reacting quickly, the two-tailed fox dropped his groceries and spun his twin tails like a rotor. Somehow, this cause him to fly in the air and at fast speed, allowing him to catch the two plants before they broke or hit people. The paint cans were about to hit some demi-human kids, so Sonic took it upon himself to repeat the mutant foxes actions by dropping his own stuff and took off running. He got to the kids seconds before the cans hit them, catching them one-by-one on his hands... though the third one had a bit of a delay and he had to balance it on his nose.
Some kids were thankful... others clapped and cheered thinking it was a circus act.
Up above, the cat skidded to a stop, having run out of room to run due to reaching the end of the platform. Nothing but the marketplace down below. Turning around wasn't exactly an option either as the girl finally closed in.
"Tee hee. I gotcha now," the girl said, confidently as she reached down to pick up the cat. Still not wanting to be captured, the cat tried to jump over her and off her head, but instead landed in the girls arms. Not expecting that to happen, along with feline struggling, caused the girl to back up a few steps.
She took one step too many…
The path she and the cat took was unfinished, having no railings for safety so when she stepped backward, the blue sky dotted with white clouds filled her field of vision. Still hugging the black cat, the young girl flew through the air in a straight downward trajectory. A rough estimate would be: falling about 100 mph, and between 4 - 6 story distance until touchdown like a football. The girl gathered her strength and managed to produce a faint glow surrounding her body. She was a Venenum-user, like Sonic's old friend Willem, but the energy was invisible to non Venenum-users. She desperately commanded her body to ignite some, a faint light radiating from the girl futilely danced about in the air before disappearing. No matter what she planned to do with that energy, it was already too late.
Unlike Chaos Energy, Venenum is very flame-like in its capacity. It's kind of the same deal as rockets on a NASA space shuttle. A small spark or short burst of it can't accomplish much, but a blazing inferno can hold tremendous power. Depending on its potency, it can even rival a Chaos Emerald or two. To get a 'flame' up to that level however, it takes a hefty amount of time and energy, even with a high skill level. In other words; Venenum doesn't have much use for responding to sudden, on-the-fly situations like the girl found herself in.
The two bodies, one human and one cat, continued their descent. The stone pavement, which had seemed so far away a moment ago, grew closer at an alarming rate. She inadvertently tightened her grip on the cat, screaming as she fell. Helpless against the pull of gravity, the girl closed her eyes and braced for impact. Hearing the scream, Sonic and the two-tailed fox reacted accordingly. The fox dropped the plants, and the Hedgehog tossed the cans aside, as they were no longer important right now. Both tried to save the falling girl, because if they didn't... a collision with the stone covered streets would leave a gruesome scene unfit for a peaceful early afternoon.
However, the man was on the move before Sonic or the fox noticed the girl fall, having kept his gaze locked on her the whole time. Before his brain got a chance to fully process the image, his legs had already set into motion, as if acting all by themselves. Time appeared to slow down as the same energy the girl attempted to use surrounded the mans body, before he took off in a burst of speed rivaling Sonic's. He sprinted directly under the girl's trajectory and spread out his arms as he jumped, ready for the catch.
CRASH!
Some demi-humans watching from the roof, mostly bunnies and cats, turned their heads away from the sound of the crash. Sonic and the fox stopped dead in their tracks. Luckily, the man got to the girl a mere second before she went splat, and before the Hedgehog or the two-tailed fox did; but he had severely underestimated the momentum with which the girl fell, and didn't generate enough Venenum to compensate for that. His arms unable to withstand the tremendous force of the impact, he collapsed underneath the girl's shorter body, their combined weight having destroyed a fruit stall with its contents now rolling over the street.
"Ow... that was fun..." he groaned with what little air he could gather.
The girl, who finally seemed to have grasped the situation (and realized she was not dead), jumped up from the man's chest and started to panic. Judging from her figure, she was probably in her early teens, no older than either Mobian. She was also sitting up on the man's waist, which could be interpreted as a scandalous position. "Ah! I'm so sorry! Are..." The girl frantically began to apologize, sounding like she was gonna ask 'are you alright'.
Blue-Haired Girl: Are your organs intact?!
Sonic and the fox stared at her, then looked at each other... did this girl really just ask that?
The flustered girl completely forgot about the black cat still sitting in her arms, who took this opportunity to struggle out of and make a run for it. The girl reflexively shot out her hand, but by then all she could grab was air; the cat only needed a moment's delay to disappear into the bustling crowd surrounding them. "Hey! Come back!" She called, not like the cat was going to listen though. The girl sighed, sad for losing the cat.
"She looks weird, mommy."
"Don't stare at it, dear. You'll have nightmares."
Was a few comments thrown the girls way. She worried why, but the annoyed crowd began to answer her question with more annoyed comments.
"Great. A Disfeatured." Said a deer.
"Why would someone without fur be on this Island?" Asked a wolf.
"Just what I needed today..." said another wolf.
The girl didn't understand at first, but slowly realized what happened to her appearance as she felt up her head with a hand. Somewhere along the way, either during her mad dashing or freefalling, the hat she had been wearing low over her eyes fell off. Her sky blue hair, though not exactly fully hidden, now flowed down past her shoulders, also having 2 short pigtails on each side of her head. Her face also looked very human or at least humanoid, having no fur or scales at all. "Oh no. My hat," she muttered to herself.
"Look what you've done!" Yelled a sheep.
"Get outta here, ya freak!" Yelled a pig.
"Exactly, just leave!" Yelled a bunny.
"Your not welcome here, Disfeatured!" Yelled the deer from a few seconds earlier.
The girl looked ashamed as the crowd drew closer with those insults, but she looked like she was going to comply. Before she could do that or give an answer or apology, she saw a blue Hedgehog rush in front of her in a flash of blue with his arms pushed outward in front of himself. "Alright! Alright! Back it up! Back it up!" He said, appearing to defend her. This did get the crowd to back off a bit, but not by much. "Give the kid a break. She almost kissed the ground." He continued.
"She shouldn't even BE here in the first place!" Said the same bunny from before.
"Yeah! And neither should you, Mammalanian!" Snapped one of the earlier wolfs, also adding venom to Sonic's social term. This was kind of the mentality of the modern day when it came to anything Disfeatured or looked humanoid that wasn't demi. If it looks the same; then it must act the same. They merely tolerated the presence of someone like Sonic... Harsh, but that's the world they live in. The blue-haired girl knew this of course, but was quite surprised to see one animal-like being stand up for her.
"She obviously didn't mean it! It was an accident!" Make that two, actually. As the two-tailed Fox also joined the blue Hedgehog's stand. She's never seen Featured like them before, now that she thought about it. Were they Mixed Bloods? Which is as its name implies, is mixed linage. It's quite common believe it or not, despite the social norms.
"Oh, of course you'd think that!" Argued the second wolf from before.
"How many accidents has your 'brother' been involved in... Miles!" Snapped the pig, rudely.
"Hey! Watch it, bacon-butt! His name is Tails!" Sonic fired back, now defending his 'brother'. This confused the girl a bit more. The Hedgehog and Fox were related? So they were Mixed?
The girl then stood up from her seat on the man's chest. "I'm sorry," she said in a soft and sad tone. "I'll go." She tried to move, to flee away from the stares, but she couldn't move any further than one step. The reason, is because the man, still on the ground, had grasped onto her wrist.
"Wait a second," said the man, calmly.
"I said I'm going!" Said the girl, misinterpreting the man's intentions of wanting to scold her some more.
"Just hold on!" The man raised his voice a bit but was still calm. As he sat up himself, he placed his other hand into the girls hand that he was grabbing, her feeling something being deposited into it. One he took his hand away, it was shown to be the blue item the cat had had in its mouth. It was a small brooch, which was smaller than a Chaos Emerald, being only able to cover her palm. For the second time today, third if you count losing the brooch to the cat, the girl was stumped. She just stared at her returned item, unsure what to say or think, bewildered by the whole ordeal.
She was happy inside though. She thought she lost this precious item, it... it meant allot to her...
"Pulled it out of that cats mouth. That's what you were after?" Asked the man though due to his tone, it also appeared to be a statement as if he already figured it out, and just asked out of wanting confirmation.
"Oh... y-yes, thank you" said the girl, still caught off guard with now 3 citizens of a Featured city helping her out. "Are, you alright?" She asked, asking the normal version if someone was alright this time. If these people were going to help her, she better watch what she said. Of course, neither of these 3 cared, but she didn't know that.
The cloaked man straightened himself out and stretched a bit, hitting the cramps out of his back but patting it gently. While he was young, he's not as strong as he used to be because of the... incident. "I'm good. Been knocked out by worse. You new around here?" Asked the man, still keeping his composure.
"Um, yeah, sort of," said the girl, still shocked she was actually talking to a member of this culture without getting insults thrown at her every five seconds.
"I figured... can't be helped," the man said, then began to mess with his cloak. "Hope you tolerate intolerance well." The man removed his hood, leaving her no time to object. Even if she did, she was once again left speechless at what she was seeing now. With his disguise now removed, his own appearance was revealed to the public eye, the stares now directed at him. He smiled warmly at the girl as he place his hood upon her own head. Disheveled back hair, no fangs or horns or any of the like... This was Sonic and Tails' Human/Emnetwhit friend, Willem Kmetsch.
The teenage girl could only gasp. She couldn't believe it. He was a Disfeatured too! He suddenly gained a mischievous grin, then glanced to Sonic, and winked. Sonic, already reading his mail, grinned back.
WHOOOOOOSH!
A sudden whirlwind blew through the town, causing those who didn't expect it to brace and close their eyes, including the blue-haired girl and... where'd the Hedgehog go? And the Fox? They were right in front of her a second ago when their eyes were open.
"... Hey! Who took my wallet?" Asked a lizard-man.
"Someone stole my necklace!" Yelped a wolf-girl.
"Where's all my product?!" Asked a frog-man, noticing his entire cart was missing ALL of its items. It didn't that long to find the culprits, as one of them was whistling a tune while twirling a necklace around his finger on one end of the street leaning against a wall. The second one was floating above him by spinning his tails like a propeller, both of them holding said items.
"HEY! You gotta pay for those!" Roared a bull-like demi.
"Sure," Sonic said, then pulled out a Ring out of hammerspace with his free hand. "Will this cover it?" He flicked it off his fingers, landing a bulls-eye in the bull demi-humans nose. At first, the demi-human moaned at this; but then realized what happened and, even though Sonic was blue, he was starting to see red, as evidenced by the steam coming out of his ears. With the whistle of a train, steam came out of his nose to further visualize his anger.
"THAT'S IT!" The bull roared, as he charged at the duo madly. The rest of the crowd, having enough of these games themselves, joined in the form of an angry mob. Sonic and Tails then booked it with smiles on their faces; with the mob calling them more names, shooting more insults, 'get back here you little rat!', etc.
With the coast mostly clear, Willem once again grabbed the girls wrist and pulled her along, making her gasp again. "Come on! This way!" He said as he lead her down the streets to a more remote area.
"Uh! Wait! What about..." she began to ask.
"They'll catch up! Let's go!" Willem answered, already knowing what her question was. With no other options available for her, she tried to her best to keep the same pace as the Human but still ended up lagging behind, being pulled along the entire time.

Having gotten away from the crowds finally, Sonic and Tails ended up rejoining Willem and their new friend at a hat shop not too far away. As for the angry mob? The Hedgehog and Fox ended up returning everything without any issues. That stunt was only a means of distraction, and never intended to keep anything they "stole". Willem ended up buying a new hat for the girl, which while a few sizes too large, looked surprisingly good on her, and matched her outfit spot on. It looked like a witches hat with a flower on one side. She appeared to like it, though.
"That should do it," said Willem, putting his hood in his cloak for later.
"Thank you, I-" the girl tried to thank the boys' for their kindness, but Willem interrupted.
"This Island doesn't have the best food." He said.
"Or specialties for that matter. Island 11's where its at" Sonic added.
"But...!" The girl tried again, and that's when her chin was grabbed by Willem so her mouth was open. "HA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Her eyes widened and cried out in a cute voice, the poor girl freaking out. She's never been touched by a man before. Not like this! It was just like those books her and her fellow teen girls read back on their Sky Island! In fact, her hair also vibrated along with her body, which traveled all the way to the top of her head, causing her new hat to hover for a bit before dropping back down.
Sonic and Tails were a bit perplexed by her body's... and her hair's... reaction. Willem didn't seem affected by it at all. "And isn't exactly welcoming to those without fangs and horns. Problems with an old mayor."
"Not even a magic mouse wearing red suspenders could get tourism here." Tails added.
"Yes. I already knew that." The girl turned her head away with a blush... she had no idea what this magic rat thing was about though.
"We'll take you to the harbor. Get you out of this place" Willem offered, already walking in the direction of the harbor which was up a flight of stairs. Sonic and Tails silently agreed. Whatever Island she was from, she clearly wasn't prepared for a rural area like this one.
"Hold on!" The girl suddenly said, which got the 3 boys attention. The Mobians' looked back at her, the Human continued to look ahead. "I appreciate all your help, and I'm... sorry for any trouble I caused you three, its just..." the girl continued, then hesitated. "I realize I don't have a right to ask, but..." she tried again, but still hesitated, looking down this time. And due to the size of the hat along with the distance with the stairs, it obscured her facial expression.
It was at this point Willem looked back, then felt bad. She must've clearly came here for a reason. "Alright." He answered, which came as yet another surprise to the girl.
"What do you need?" Asked Tails. The girl turned around, looking at a tall tower in the distance. It was actually this Islands bell tower, and was the highest point in the city.
"Garakuta Tower, eh?" Asked Willem.
"Nice choice, princess. I go there all the time" Sonic said, liking this idea. He's been all over this Island, and that tower had a great view... in hindsight, maybe there was one tourism spot here.
"Oh yeah. I've flown the Tornado around it a few times." Said Tails, which got the girl to cock her head with a 'hmm?' sound. The Fox can fly Tornados'? How did that work?
Willem sighed and pulled out a map. Despite being local, he's never had an actual reason to go to that tower, and the labyrinth of paths this Island had didn't make things any easier. "Well, seeing as some of us can't fly or run over buildings, we'll have to walk" he dryly stated, reading the map and walking in the direction he thinks they needed to go. Again; never had a reason to go there.
"Well, if you were 510 years younger..." Sonic joked.
"Oh, your funny. What about you, a teen now until forever?" Willem said in a still dry tone, still reading the map as he and his Mammalanian friends traveled down the path.
"Hey. Gotta love time and space travel" Sonic answered. The girl stood still for a minute before joining them by following behind. Tornado riding? Space-Time travel? 510 years younger? But Willem looked no more than a few years older than her, the Mammalanians' looked around her age as well with Willem confirming this... maybe that's how men joked around in they're free time?

(AN: Play Scarborough Fair from the SukaSuak/WorldEnd anime.)
The small group walked all through the city, first past some living quarters with kids running around and playing. They were so innocent, most likely unaware of the dangers that lurk down below. As they continued, going down some stairs; the blue-haired girl almost fell forward, but was thankfully caught by Sonic as he grabbed her hand, smiling at her. Caught off guard for the... she lost count at this point... she subconsciously took another step and dragged Sonic with her, but it was now Tails' turn to save them while flying with his tails, grabbing Sonic's hand to prevent them from hurting themselves. He and Willem (whom was already at the bottom of the stairs) gave a smile that said: 'what are we gonna do with you two?'
They ended up at a junctions that had three roads diverging into five different paths. Even with the map, it was a pain in the butt. Willem and blue-haired girl went down the furthest path, Sonic going ahead using the middle path, Tails looking down the bottom-right path. Sonic then had enough and just ran to the top of a roof with Tails doing the same via flying for what he called the: Tails-Eye View. They ended up taking the bottom left path, as that was the only one what the best route so they wouldn't be doing this all day.
History repeated itself, and they ended up at another 5-way. Luckily, a lone shopkeeper was here and pointed them in the right direction, which was upstairs. They bumped into a Golem merchant, which Willem got a snack for the other three. He wasn't hungry though.
The Golem was kind enough to point them in the right direction, which was down an alleyway. Only at the time when the group went down it, they encountered a rampaging bull that some demi-humans were trying in vain to restrain. Because of the narrow path, they had no choice but to flee in the opposite direction! This of course lead to them trying to find shelter behind a stall... which happened to have a female Frogger (demi-human frog) taking a bath. She threw a bucket at Willem's face, making him to fall one floor down into a chicken coop. The surprised chickens began plucking at the poor human from his head-to-toe from his intrusion.
After getting out, three out of the four of them were laughing/giggling about it. The fourth one of them was rubbing his head and was covered in a few excess feathers.
"At least ya didn't croak" Sonic joked.
"Yeah... cucking hysterical..." was Willem's dry answer.
You won't believe this, but they also stumbled upon the same troublemaking cat, whom recognized the blue-haired girl immediately and ran off along the railings it was calmly walking on before. They ended up at a fairgrounds; which had a small band composed of a female Faucon (bird demi-human) playing a flute, a Sheep demi-human playing a guitar, and a small being what can only be described as a mini Pac-Man was jiggling balls. This band played a very peaceful tune. You'd almost think the world WASN'T destroyed from this scene... everyone was so happy.
The blue-haired girl liked it. She began tapping her feet and moving her knees to the beat before doing a twirl.
With all the detours, they managed to get to the tower just in time for the setting sun. Willem lagged behind this time, walking normally. As for the other 3; their was plenty of room for Tails to fly around, Sonic zipped and/or jumped up each flight of stairs. The girl? She was in no rush, skipping and doing a few twirls like before as she ascended to the top, almost gliding. Tails and Sonic got up first of course, with the other two members of the group joining them 2 seconds later.
Tails landed at the outlook overlooking the entire city, while Sonic was at the halfway point under the shade and bowed while gesturing to the "Goal". The blue-haired girl's face lit up with a smile and ran forward. Not only was she amazed to no end on these Disfeatures powers, but also the breathtaking view this height provided. The orange-evening sky, the clouds next to the Island itself, the other Islands that can be seen hanging nearby at various elevations... they got here at just the right time! And was all thanks to these gentlemen that acted as her guides.
Even if was a joke before, she kinda did feel like a princess right now.
(AN: End music.)
The girl leaned over the flimsy railing at the edge of the tower and let out a sigh of admiration. When viewed from this height, the bustling town below looked like a beautiful, minutely detailed painting. After confirming no one else was around, she took off her new hat. Her hair, which shared the same blue as the sky, broke free and flowed freely in the wind.
"This what you wanted, huh?" Willem asked, directing that question to the girl. He admired the view himself. Maybe he should come up here more.
"I did. I've seen the Sky Islands from further and farther out, but... seeing it like this is brand new. I always wanted to, but never got the chance to look down upon a city from right in the middle of it."
Sonic whistled. "Reminds me so much of back home" he said, hopping up on the railings themselves and sat with his feet hanging off the edge.
The girl looked interested at Sonic's answer. "Oh, your not from this Island? Which one are you from?" She asked him.
Sonic scratched the back of his head, which was also his quills, and gave a nervous smile and chuckle. How was he gonna explain this in a way this girl will understand? The only reason that recon team a year or so ago believed him and Tails was because of their Chaos Emerald, which was left behind at Grick's for safekeeping. No one else knew about the Emerald except them, and its been kept as a heavily guarded secret ever since. Not even Officials knew about the last surviving Chaos Emerald. For all general public of this time knew; Sonic, Tails and Willem were just the last of their kinds that were lucky to escape the horrors that lurk below.
"It's uh... further down," he white lied. Not a total lie if you think about it, but still...
"Oh... I see." The girl was a little confused at his body language, but didn't think much of it. "My dream's come true, and I've made some great memories too. I don't have anymore regrets to leave behind." The three boys couldn't help but have her last sentence repeat in their heads a second time. First the organs thing, now this? She was one strange girl. "... Thank you guys for today. I mean it," she went on. "I got see and have so many wonderful experiences. All because of you."
"I think your exaggerating." Willem said, leaning on the rails. They just happened to have some free time, so they did something different for a change. It felt awkward to be thanked just for that.
"It was our pleasure" said Tails.
"It was fun! We should do this again sometime!" Said Sonic.
Willem then sensed something the other 3 didn't. Part of his training as a Brave allowed him to detect the presence of people. "By the way," he said. "They here for you?" The trio of kids looked behind them. While Tails and Sonic were a bit surprised, it was the blue-haired girl that gave a cute little yelp, obviously not expecting what was behind them. Two Featured guards and a large lizard-like demi-human stood in the shadows of the bell tower. The lizard one was actually called a Reptrace, but it was very rare for them to be THAT huge, this one being several feet taller than Willem. He appeared quite intimidating, and those muscles didn't help either.
How long have they been there anyway? Were they following them the whole time?
"Well, times up." The girl said, softly. "Everyone has to wake up from dreams sooner or later..." She continued, then put her new hat back on. "Can I make one last request?" She asked. The boys' were all ears. "Just forget you ever met me."
"Hah?" Asked Sonic and Tails, simultaneously. This even caught Willem off guard, but he didn't show it. Forget about her? This girl had some issues.
She gave a small giggle and a smile. "It was fun... while it lasted. Farewell." Was her final sentence before bowing her head as a gesture of thanks, joining the Reptrace's side, and going down the stairs of the bell tower, the guards that joined them following them down. The boys just watched them leave, wondering what that was all about. Those guards wore military grade uniforms... maybe she was someone important? Just who WAS that mysterious, blue-haired girl?
With it getting pretty late, the boys exited the tower themselves to head back home to Grick's. It would do no good harping about the what's, the why's and the how's right now; it wasn't their business anyway. Besides, it's not like they'll ever see that girl again in a world with over hundreds of huge Islands hanging around in the sky; especially if she has military escorts, right?
That's it for the prologue, we'll get into more later. What'd you think? Sounds like an interesting premise: beings than cannot be destroyed completely, even by the near limitless supply of energy from a Chaos Emerald. How's Sonic and Tails gonna combat something like this? Will they ever find a way back home? Can they save the planet from such a terrible fate? Guess we'll just have to find out. Thanks for checking this chapter out, and I'll see ya in the next one.
