Epilogue

Tohru shifted in bed, vaguely aware of quiet noises at the very edge of her consciousness. Her natural affinity for sleep put up a strong fight, but eventually it clicked that there was someone moving around in the room.

She yawned, lifting her head up off her pillow and looking around. The room was dark, but she could make out an outline at the foot of the bed. And she smiled, as the quiet murmurs gradually became discernable words.

"Shh, Hajime, Daddy's got you. That's right, we're gonna go have a nice warm bottle, just you and me."

Hajime let out another mewl, just like the one that had originally woken Tohru, and she smiled as she heard Kyo shush him again.

"I know, you're hungry. Being hungry sucks. But so does being tired, so let's let Mommy sleep, ok? That's my good boy."

She watched as Kyo gently scooped up Hajime from the bassinet, earning another squawk of protest from the baby, and headed for the hallway. She could hear Kyo slide it open the bedroom door, then he paused in the doorway.

"Go back to sleep, Tohru; I've got this."

As she settled her head back down into her pillow, Tohru let out a soft, dreamy sigh.

He certainly did.
