Basis: Chapter 6

Date & Time: Thursday, August 14th, 1975, 7:00 P.M.

City: St. Georgina

State: Lanahassee

*The White Super Bee pulled into the parking lot of the two-story apartment complex where Shelly lived. He shut off the engine and looked to see the door of Apartment 5 slightly open.

Dustin: What the hell?

*Dustin got out of the car and made his way up to the apartment. A man's voice he couldn't recognize was yelling.

Man's voice: You will not, Shelly. You are mine and only mine.

Shelly: Jimmie, I am not. We broke up a month ago. You won't hurt me anymore.

*Dustin opened the door to see the man she called Jimmie grab her wrists.

Dustin: Hey!

*Jimmie turned to see a very angry 6'5" man standing in the doorway.

Shelly: Dustin…

Dustin: Get your filthy hands off of her.

Jimmie: Who the hell are you?

*Dustin walked over to him. He towered over the smaller man. He grabbed the back of his stained white t-shirt.

Dustin: Somebody who doesn't like your treatment of women.

*Dustin threw the smaller man out the door and over the first floor banister. He landed in the bed of a '52 Dodge 2-ton truck full of hay.

Dustin: Shelly, go wait by the Super Bee.

*She said nothing quickly walking over to the White Dodge.

*Dustin jumped over the banister into the bed of the truck. Picking up Jimmie, and dragging him over to the Super Bee. Let go of the man letting him lay there.

Dustin: Get up.

*Jimmie got to his feet and tried to rush him. Dustin extended his arm and punched Jimmie in the sternum, knocking him back. Dustin pulled his 1911 from his shoulder holster and took a knee next to Jimmie, who was gasping for breath.

Dustin: Now then, Jimmie.

*He pulled the badge from his jacket pocket.

Dustin: You have one of two choices.

*Jimmie was afraid and terror was in his eyes seeing Dustin's gun.

Dustin: 1. You leave here and never have any contact with Shelly ever again. 2. I put a bullet in your leg and you spend your night in a jailhouse hospital handcuffed to a hospital bed and charged with attacking a police officer and assault on Shelly.

*Jimmie stumbled to his feet and ran over to his beat up grey'73 El Camino and did a one-wheel-peel burnout as he scrambled out of the parking lot. Dustin returned to the nervous looking girl standing next to his Super Bee putting his gun back in its holster.

Dustin: Are you ok?

*Shelly ran up to him and hugged him tightly taking Dustin by surprise. She began to weep slightly.

Shelly: Dustin, I….

*Dustin squeezed her tighter placing his hand gently on the back of her head.

Dustin: I know….I know.

*She inhaled the smell of his shirt and smiled. They separated and she wiped her tears.

Shelly: Ugh, my makeup is ruined.

Dustin: Well, we still have plenty of time, If you want to fix it before we go.

Shelly: Sure, I'll even change my clothes into something a bit more to your liking.

*She ran back up to her apartment leaving him at the Super Bee. A few minutes passed, Dustin was smoking a cigarette, leaning on the front fender of the Dodge. Shelly came out of the apartment. She was wearing a tight black dress with a pair of matching black heels. Her make-up was now flawless again with her lipstick making her lips a deep red.

Shelly: I'm ready.

*Dustin was so shocked by her change, the cigarette fell from his mouth and hit the pavement.

Dustin: You look fantastic, Shelly.

*Shelly walked down to the flabbergasted Detective, kissing him on the cheek.

Shelly: Are we going to eat or what?

*Dustin shook of the shock and looked at his date.

Dustin: Ugh, yeah allow me.

*He escorted her over to the passenger side and opened her door.

Shelly: Thank you.

*She got in and Dustin got in on the driver side. He started the car and pulled out onto the street.

*They drove down the road headed towards Sandy's Drive-in Restaraunt. It was on the way to The Taurus Movie Theater.

Note: Sandy's is owned by Sandra Gaulton. It was started by her father, James Gaulton in 1953. It started as a road-side stop and go shack where people could buy burgers, fries, shakes, and sodas. Now, it is a fully equipped 50's themed diner. Without fail, there are many cars, trucks, and even motorcycles that should be featured in editorials of Hot Rod Magazine, parked in berths.

Dustin: This should be good.

*The Super Bee pulled in next to a '51 Hudson Hornet and a '57 Chevy Bel Air.

*The Hemi in the Super Bee was ticking softly as the engine cooled down when a young waitress walked up to the driver side window.

Waitress: Good Evening, my name is Lisa I'll be your server tonight, What'll you have to drink?

Shelly: I'll have a Peanut Butter Shake.

Waitress: And you, sir?

Dustin: I'll have a Coke.

Waitress: Bottle or Glass?

Dustin: Bottle, please.

Waitress: Coming right up.

*Dustin leaned back looking at the menu.

Shelly: Dustin, I'm really sorry about earlier.

Dustin: Shelly, It's not your fault he's a few bricks short of a load.

*Shelly ran her hand over the leather dash pad.

Shelly: Where'd you find this car?

Dustin: I got it in Nicholas City.

Shelly: I know that town.

Dustin: Yeah, my dad and I picked up two cars from there, we picked up his current car, a '70 Roadrunner, and this.

Shelly: Why was it there?

Dustin: His car was there for, I think it was a blown transmission. And mine was there without an engine. It is an original hemi car.

Shelly: Wow, I bet it needed work.

*The waitress retuned bringing their drinks.

Lisa: Here you go. What will you have?

*They ordered their burgers and talked and laughed until they were finished eating.

Shelly: Speaking of movies, what are we going to watch at the Taurus anyway?

Dustin: Y'know, I have no clue we'll figure out what to watch when we get there.

*She adjusted her seating in the black leather seat. Dustin couldn't help noticing that her dress was showing her curves and her legs very well. She blushed after noticing him looking at her legs.

Dustin: Well, we better get going to the Taurus.

*Dustin paid the waitress, and she took the tray from his window.

Dustin: You ready?

Shelly: Yeah.

*Dustin turned the keys in the ignition, but nothing happened.

Dustin: Uh-oh.

Shelly: What's wrong?

Dustin: Hang on.

*Dustin got out and opened the hood of the Super Bee. He looked at the battery and noticed the positive terminal was off the battery. It was disconnected by accident.

Dustin: Aha.

*He walked around the car to the trunk and pulled a set of plyers from the toolbox. He tightened the bolt on the terminal's clamp and wiggled it to make sure it was secure. He put the plyers back in the trunk, and he turned to get in the car.

Dustin: Ok

*He turned the key and the Mopar starter whined. The Hemi roared to life through the dual exhaust.

Shelly: Oh my, that sounds mean.

*The Dodge reversed out of the berth and pulled out to the street. Dustin drove down the road to the theater and pulled into the theater.

Dustin: Alright, let's see what's playing.

Shelly: Okay, lead the way.

*Dustin got out of the car and looked around the lot. He noticed that a '73 El Camino pulled up to the parking lot across the street. He thought it was Jimmie for a second, but he could not tell.

Dustin: Hey, is…

Shelly: Huh?

Dustin: Never mind.

*The two walked up to the posters on the outside wall displaying which movies were playing. The four posters were for the movies Farewell, My Lovely, Jaws, Sholay, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Dustin: Alrighty.

Shelly: Let's go see this one.

*She pointed to the movie poster with the giant red lips.

Dustin: The Rock Horror Picture Show?

Shelly: Yeah.

Dustin: Sure. Why not.

NB: Two Hours Later…

*Dustin came outside with Shelly holding his arm.

Dustin: I did not expect that.

Shelly: Me neither, but I know this, that guy could really operate those heels.

*A man in a black ski-mask jumped from behind the side of the theater.

Thug: Don't move!

*Shelly clutched Dustin's jacket sleeve tighter. She recognized the thug.
