PROLOG

"Give me one reason to forgive you for this!" he demanded, turning his head towards me. His raised emotions were buzzing in my head. I'm not used to this state yet.

Opening my mouth, I searched my head for any good reason I could give him. And nothing. I didn't really know the reason, or maybe it just wasn't there?

Despite my vampire skills and quick thinking and analyzing all the facts, I couldn't think of anything to stop him. And I didn't want him to do anything to himself by not communicating my decision to him... because he was my best friend...

"Because ... Because ... Because I don't want anything to happen to you!" I moaned when, after a few dozen seconds, I came up with the easiest and stupidest reason why he would forgive me

"Not enough..." he said, shaking his head and starting to walk forward

"NOPE! JACOB! WAIT!" I raised my voice and mentally raised my courage (because even though I was a vampire, fate brazenly mocked me, not giving me to be immortal) to say something that I can, or rather will, regret. "You can't do that because I love you. I love you! Is this reason enough for you?"

"You're just lying to keep me from doing something to myself." I don't want to do that, he said, stopping to move quickly towards the forest again

Not! I have to stop him somehow! I can't lose him!

"JAKE! KISS ME!" I cried helplessly, hoping that at least it would stop him. He paused again, but this time he turned all over and looked at me suspiciously. "I'm asking you to kiss me," I said, more professionally, for him to trust me. May it help ...

He had to trust me because he got closer. Instinctively, he looked to the side and paled.

I could smell a wolf smell stronger and a second... Strangely sweet...
