Authors note:Hi there I decided to try my hand at writing some fanfiction for the first time. After some careful deliberation, I decided on writing one where midoriya has the abilities of a windrunner knights radiant from a Sanderson novel. I thought it would be pretty interesting to see how he dealt with later ideals. (spoilers for rhythm of war later in the story)Please note that the story will be picking up right after All-Might jumps from the building at the beginning. Any changes to previous scenes will probably be addressed later if they are different.
Midoryia stood there petrified as All-Might leapt into the distance. The wind almost erased his stunned voice as he fell back onto the roof.
"What?" Midoriya sat there, his eyes blurring with tears. He couldn't believe it. His hero, the symbol of peace, said no, he could not be a hero. Then he saw the thing that had been haunting him since he was three. A thin blue strip of light that followed the wind. It danced across his bleary vision along the breeze from the roof. Midoriya's heart surged with sorrow. He remembered when he first saw it. At first, he took it as a trick of the light, but it seemed to follow him around wherever he went. He had once taken it as a sign of his quirk. No one else could see it however, and he had a second pinky toe joint. The doctor had explained that well rare someone like him could have quirk. It was more likely that he had simply imagined it.
Ever since then Midoriya had tried his hardest to ignore it, but it always danced in his field begging to be seen. This time he didn't ignore it though. Picking himself up off the roof he reached for the ribbon finding it completely intangible.
"You probably are just a figment of my imagination aren't you." He muttered softly. Suddenly a massive tremor ripped through the building. Sending Midoriya crashing back onto the roof with a groan. He quickly raised his eyes wide.
"What was that!" He rushed as quickly as he could to get to the source noise. Rushing through both open and crowded streets to arrive at the scene. The air was filled with ash and smoke. Midoriya coughed as he pushed his way through the crowd. What he saw was not what he had expected. It was Bakugou and the sludge monster caught by All-Might earlier. Midoriya held his hands to his head. He couldn't believe it, how had the villain escaped? Was it when he had latched onto All-Might? It had to be, his hero would never make a mistake like that, right? Then Bakugo's face turned towards him. Midoriya registered but a single emotion. Fear. This was no time to think. Midoriya rushed forward. But as he ran, time slowed to a halt; and as if on instinct he began speaking.
"Life, before Death; Strength, before Weakness; Journey, before Destination." He exploded with light, nearly blinding both the sludge villain and Bakugou. Still he surged on, crashing directly into the sludge. Thrusting his arms wildly into the sludge. Bakugos mouth managed to break free, and after a gasping breath he spoke one word.
"Why?" Midoriya responded with tearful eyes, and a weak but glowing smile.
"Because you looked like you needed saving." Suddenly Midoriya's hands found a purchase on Bakugos clothes, and he pulled. It seemed as if his grip might break, but he somehow managed to hold on. But it wasn't enough. The sludge villain had managed to regain his composure.
"Now you're in for it kid!" His voice filled with a torrent sounding rage, and the villain suddenly exploded. And in his place stood All-Might, fist raised high as the rain hailed his victory.
"I couldn't just stand by and watch, not with such a courageous display there young man!" As the light started fading from Midoriya he fell to his knees splashing in the downpour . Kneeling down to his level all might give; for who was, a quiet statement.
"Know young man we have some things to talk about don't we, get out of here while I distract the press!" Almost faster than Midoriya could see he turned to impress the crowd with his usual loud and boisterous claims.
Midoriya had run for quite a while, before almost running headlong into All-Might. Who quickly snatched from the air.
"Woah there young Midoriya, can't have you knocking yourself out can we!" He set Midoriya down as steam burst forth revealing his much smaller form, and with it a much more serious expression.
"Now let's Have A quick chat huh?"
