Hi! There're a few things you need to know before proceeding to read this:

1. This is a fanfic about one of my favourite shippings in the Pokemon special manga verse, or pokespe for short.

2. The song in this fic is " Can't help falling in love with you" by Elvis Presley ( R.I.P Mr Presley). You can find it on YouTube https/youtu.be/vGJTaP6anOU.

Highly recommended to listen to it before reading!!!

3. This is just an idea from my imagination, so it's not canon in the main story

4. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: I don't own either the song or Pokemon special, but they own my heart!

" ...Wise men say

Only fools rush in

But I...can't help...falling in love with you..."

His mother would always be engrossed in the lilting tune of this melodious piece of music whenever it was broadcast on the radio in their cozy living room. He was a clueless, little child in his early years of life at the time, so he had no idea what the lyrics of her favorite song meant. All he knew was that when he sat beside her, playing with his robot toy, and occasionally when he glanced at her, he could tell by her expressions that she was inextricably captivated by the enchantment of the euphonious melody, by the enigmatic thing called "love."

"Mommy...", the child lowered his toy and called out to his mother.

"Yes, my dear Dia.", she was still humming its tune while replying to her little boy.

" Love, do you know what it is?", he looked at her with wide eyes, waiting for a response.

"Ohh...", that question undoubtedly drew her attention away from the song. She lowered the radio's volume while pondering a proper response for her son. She finally spoke up after a few minutes:

"Dia, do you like Mommy?"

"Of course!", he answered back without hesitation.

"How much do you like Mommy?", she continued.

"This much!", the boy stretched his arms as wide as he could. "Hold on, I can still open them wider."

She grinned contentedly and gave him a

gentle pat on the back of the head.

"Good boy. Then, do you like anyone else or anything else in that way?"

"There are a lot. I like my best friend, Pearl, as well as my other school friends; I like my teachers, our neighbors, and our family. I also like Proteam Omega Man because he always looks cool when he fights bad guys. And food, I like all kinds of food, especially rice balls...rice balls...yum-yum..."

It didn't take this glutton long to start slavering over his food fantasies.

"Well, Dia, that strong liking of yours can be construed as "love" in some way. There is always love within you and those around you."

Her short interpretation immediately snapped him out of his daydream.

"Wow, so that's what you call "love"!"

His face was filled with excitement, but when he pointed to the radio, he slightly frowned.

"It sounds so wonderful, but why does the man living inside Ma's radio keep saying he is "falling in love"? Doesn't that sound like he suffers in pain?"

There was a brief moment of silence in the room before the young boy's mother couldn't stop giggling after hearing his jejune question.

"No, no, Dia, that "love" is a little different."

" How different, Mommy? Is it edible? Is it tasty?"

She didn't immediately respond to her innocent, gluttonous child, but instead smiled mildly. Kids do grow up quickly, and so does their curiosity. She was well aware that "love" would play a significant role in his life at some point, so as his mother, she needed to come up with an appropriate explanation for him.

"You see, Dia, "love" is like...food for your soul! But you can't eat it with your mouth. Instead, you can feel it with your heart and mind. Just a spoonful is enough to change your life. It has no taste, but it has the best flavor; it has no aroma, but it is the most aromatic. It can be bitter or sweet, alluring and addictive, and will always leave you with an indelible aftertaste."

Needless to say, whenever it came to food, his face lit up and his dark blue eyes gleamed with delight.

"Really, Mommy? Is there such a dish?"

While replying to him, she gently wiped away his drool:

"Yes, my dear, and you will be able to get a taste of it someday. It will be a one-of-a-kind dish meant just for you. That's all I can say about it to you for now."

What his mother told him that day left a deep imprint on his mind and heart. He couldn't stop dreaming about it, longing to taste its delectable flavor, so he called for his friend, Pearl, to join him on a quest to find it. The two boys wandered around their hometown, searching high and low, asking their friends and anyone they met, but no one could give them the desired answer. Soon, those two grew out of the quest and never touched upon it again.

Time sure flies by as years and years pass. Little Diamond from those days has grown into a young man in his youth's efflorescence. Although it has been several years since Sinnoh was saved from the widespread cataclysm, he recalls it as if it happened yesterday. He still remembers how he and his best friend, the comedy duo, won the Grand Prix's Special Prize in Jubilee City, and how they fortuitously went on an adventure throughout the region. He still can't forget what he learned on the foray, the experiences from his self-development as well as that of the people and Pokemon around him. And there is someone Diamond can't seem to forget. In fact, he believes he will never forget about her. That fated day, the very first moment he caught a glimpse of her, he couldn't get that flawless impression out of his mind.

"A young lady...so beautiful...so elegant...just like a princess."

During the journey, the girl quickly became a close friend to him and Pearl, and they nicknamed her "Missy." He had a great time traveling with them, discovering new things, new places, and taking on new challenges with the help and encouragement of one another. But recently, something has been in his concern whenever the young man reminisces about those good old days. He adores his two best friends, but something is different about his feelings towards Missy. Every time he sees her, there's as though a smoldering fire in his heart that gradually grows to be as blazing as wildfires. And he feels like her silhouette is haunting his mind day by day. That, strange as it may seem, does not cause him to suffer in agony, yet it brings him something else, something...invigorating.

"For I can't help falling in love with you..."

Can't it be-

"Boom!" Deafening noise and thick clouds of black fumes coming from his oven are signs of bad omens. Diamond dashes to the cooker, only to discover that what's lying inside is not his zesty soon-to-be chocolate cake, but a heap of anthracite! He had never made such a mistake since he learned to bake. Yet, things can get this bad in just five minutes of daydreaming about a girl with a song stuck in his head. Hmm, maybe she isn't just a girl to him anymore. Diamond soon realizes something. He finally has discovered the taste of the wonderous dish his mother once told him.

"Diamond! Oh, my God! You're in love with her!"
