This is Sfaíra. Here, the Greek nation is always in a primitive state of development. Meanwhile, the Great Powers continue to grow, breed, and build new technology all around them...
But in their offense, nature often bites back, whenever they try to work against it...
This is the Great Antipodean Bight; or the Great Bight, if you will. It's off the coast of one of Sfaíra's Great Powers.
Here, it's December. And in the southern hemisphere, that means warm weather. A bit TOO much, if you asked some of the locals...what few live here... (Zeus bless their souls...)
Out here, there are many desert islands. Like the mainland not too far from here, they're deserts. Some of them are just sandbars. It's almost like some parts of the Aegean Ocean.
Beneath the waves, the ruins of old Dutch ships lie along the bottom, like reefs. The Dutch are not a Great Power here...but they do know how to build a ship...and not to mention sail one.
Among some of the ship ruins, there are shed snake skins. They're very long, and very large. They're all tail-less. But then, whatever shed these must've had more than a tail behind their necks...
Like maggots, wrasse fish feast upon the shed skins. Remoras join them, taking a break from their usual shark clients. And the Great Bight has PLENTY of those... A few hagfish feast on them, too.
Yes, it seems that the Antipodean hydra is the Great Bight's gift to scavengers, at least...
One of these islands hosts many caves. Some are submerged; others not so much. In one of the surfaced ones, a leviathan stirs. He's the cause for some of these shipwrecks...and not to mention the reason why there are few sharks in these waters...if any.
With a golden head and neck, a hydra lifts its heads from the intense fog below. He's feeling perky. So, acting all monstrous, he sings his own rendition of the "Hugga Wugga" number, from the Muppet Show...
Every now and then, flashes of light erupt from beneath the fog down there. This hole is almost like hell to any human pioneer who dares rappel down here...
As Head 1 gets high on his own song, Head 2 emerges. He's more submissive than Head 1. He might even be gay. Alas, it's too bad his genitals aren't his to be gay with...
Head 2 falls in with Head 1, and together, they sing "Hugga Wugga" as a duet. For many, it would be inspirational...if not a bit creepy...
It's bound to happen...and it does. Head 3 emerges from the very dense fog below. And by and by, it comes his time to sing. The music slows down and changes tone, and he does:
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine...
Revolted, Head 1 breathes a huge gusher of fire all over Head 3. In a flash, Head 3 is reduced to a headless stub.
With the pest removed, Head 1 returns to the regular number. This time, he's a bit more aggressive, in the way he sings it...
And now, Head 2 sings:
You make me happy
When skies are grey...
Furious, Head 1 breathes fire all over Head 2, and reduces him to a stub, too. With his space free and clear, Head 1 returns to his music.
In his blindspot, Head 3 grows back. And just when Head 1 takes a breath from the ever-more-aggressive-than-ever way he's singing the song, he picks up where he left off:
You make me happy
When skies are grey...
Head 1 threatens him, of course. Head 3 dodges persecution by hiding in a little tube that connects his shoulders with the middle of his neck; like how some anemones go into hiding, when they sense danger.
Suspicious, Head 1 puts his ear to Head 3's "neck tube." At first, it sounds like he's extinguished the threat to his performance...
You never know, Dear,
How much I love you...
At this, Head 1 gapes, loses control, and starts blowing fire incessantly, into Head 3's neck tube. He's going to punish the crap out of Head 3, if it's the last thing he ever does...
It IS the last thing he ever does. Soon, he loses control of himself, and sprays fire all over the cavern. Moments later, his entire neck explodes, and splatters all over the cave walls. His dynasty has ended.
With the threat gone, Head 3 surfaces from the tube, and finishes the song:
Do not take
My Sunshine away!
