Hetty was making the agents take fitness tests 'to make sure they were in tip top shape', and Deeks was nervous about it.
'I don't think I can do this.' He said.
'It won't be so bad, most likely just going to be push ups and sit ups.' Kensi replied.
'The last time Hetty made me take a test, I ended up shooting a paper figure of her in the head. And as punishment, she made me take aggressive paintball lessons, can't even say how many times I was hit!'
'It won't be like that, I'm sure of it.'
Deeks was feeling okay after that, until he overheard Callen talking about his fitness test. Which was push ups, sit ups, the shooting range, even climbing the wall in the gym!
He knew there was only 1 last thing for him to do.
The next day
'Is Mr. Deeks taking his fitness test today?' Hetty asked Kensi.
'No. He is very ill today with a high fever, he won't be in for a couple of days.' Kensi replied.
'Oh dear, do you need to go home?'
'No, he's having a friend stay with him today.'
'Oh. Well, if you talk to him today, tell him I hope he feels better.' Hetty said.
Later that day
Kensi went into the girls bathroom to call Deeks.
'How are you doing today, sick boy?' Kensi asked.
'Well, there's nothing good on TV, so I tidied up around the house. You would not believe how messy the bathroom sink was!' Deeks replied.
'Sigh. I hope this is worth it, because you know Hetty will find out eventually. She always does you know.'
'I don't want to risk embarrassing her! You know what happened the last time that happened!'
'Then tell her how you feel! She's not cold hearted, she'll listen.' Kensi requested.
'I'll, I'll think about it.'
After a few more conversations with Kensi, Deeks went to Hetty's office the next day, and confessed.
'I'm sorry about faking an illness, but I don't want to embarrass you on that fitness test, not after what I pulled in the shooting range that one time. Those paintball lessons were really painful!'
Hetty pondered on his confession for 2 minutes.
'Well, I appreciate your honesty. And while I found your stunt in the shooting range disgusting, I know it was a silly accident. And, you shouldn't feel afraid of embarrassing me. I'm very hard to embarrass.' Hetty said.
Stunned. 'Wow. Uh, Thank you for the kind words. Does this mean I don't have to take the fitness test?'
'Oh no, you still have to take it, or it'll look like I'm playing favorites. But, you only have to take 1 section, and it can be whatever section you're comfortable with.'
Deeks was very pleased. 'Thank you thank you! I promise I won't let you down.'
'We'll see about that.' Hetty thought.
