Anna woke up 1 morning with a bad cold. Callen left her some medicine and was getting ready for work, when she requested that he stay.
'Anna, I have to go to work! You can handle a minor cold like this, right?' He asked.
'Yes, but I don't want to be alone today! Call Hetty and tell her you're not coming in today!' She replied.
'Well okay, but she's probably going to say no.'
To his surprise, Hetty accepted his request!
'She's your girlfriend! You should stay with her in her time of need.' Hetty said.
'Hetty, she has a manageable cold. Her fever isn't even above 103! I want to stay with her, but is it right to skip a day of work to care for someone who can handle a cold by herself?' Callen asked.
'Yes it is! As your boss, I am ordering you to stay with your girlfriend.'
'Okay, but I'm coming in tomorrow, for sure!'
Callen stayed with Anna, and he began to see why Hetty wanted him to stay.
It wasn't just about letting her know that she was going to be okay, it was also about being there for her in her time of need.
'It appears I still have a lot to learn about being in a relationship.' Callen told Hetty later.
'Well, that's normal. I'm still figuring things out with my husband even though we've known each other for years.' She said.
Callen chuckled.
