"I'm sorry for shouting at you"
Rose measured the tension so she could take a step closer. Jack kept his head down, her hands tenderly caressed his shoulders in an attempt to calm him down and comfort him.
"I can't believe you called me a bitch" She stated calmly, looking up to make him laugh and lighten up the mood a little bit.
"No. I would never do that... I said it to nobody in particular..." Jack turned around and put his lover's head close to his chest. They hugged for a few minutes and then sat down on a wooden bench to enjoy the wind and calmness that the night offered.
"I apologize for everything I've said or done to hurt you"
"No baby, don't apologize... I love you so much..." Jack grabbed her chin with his thumb and tasted the sweetness of her lips once again "I'm so scared of letting you go"
"But you're right, I can't have you on a tightrope" Rose separated from the embrace. Guilt washed over her... Jack was right, earlier that day she could've defended him but she was too scared of Cal... if she couldn't stand up for him, how could she leave her fiancé?
"Don't blame yourself for what happened earlier, it's in the past. I guess it's just that I haven't been surrounded by so many people before" He continued. "I guess watching how y'all live, what you do, what you have... I guess I got kinda jealous"
"Are you serious? I'm jealous of you!"
"Me? Why?"
"Because you have the freedom most of us only dream of. You don't let anything stop you, when you want something you go get it. You have this fire inside you that you aren't afraid to share with everybody"
"So do you"
"I guess we make a good team then"
"We do make a good team" Jack placed Rose on his lap and continued kissing her. She eventually rested her head on his shoulder. They kept quiet, listening carefully to the sound of their hearts beating in sync.
A sound emanating from Jack's phone caught Rose's attention, she couldn't help but look at the screen. Rose had supposedly just posted something less than 30 seconds ago, the redhead blamed the delay on the bad wi-fi.
"You have my notifs on?" She blushed, did he really get a notification every time she posted? He was too sweet.
"Yeah, you said so"
"Did I?"
"Yeah, you always say it"
"Oh... I didn't really mean it!"
"You didn't?"
"Well... it was something i came up with to help with the reach and engagement of my account" Jack wasn't sure he understood completely what she was saying "I don't really mean half the things I sa- wait? Is that why you bought me that box of chocolates the other day?"
"Well yeah, you said you liked the brand"
"I get paid to say that!" Had he really fallen for that? "Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the gift, but not because I said online that I liked them, really means that I do. Different brands send me the clothes I wear, tell me where I go to eat... I told you Jack, I don't own my life"
"How is that...?"
"It's exposure. If a thousand people watch my stories and they see me eating at certain place and I show them the food and they like it, they might go. That's why I'm here, to work. I can't afford the whole trip! My manager arranges all the deals in every country we go so I know what to wear, where to go and what things that certain target likes"
Jack was still processing everything
"Just don't believe half the things I say online, okay?"
"Then half of the things I know about you are wrong..."
"Probably... I'm sorry. But all the things I say on close friends are one hundred percent true! I promise"
"Yeah? Alright, I'll believe you" he teased "because you said you liked my drawings"
"Oh my god, don't be silly! I love your drawings! And your paintings! And you know what else I love about you?"
"Mmhm what else?"
"Your d-"
"It's Christmas!"
"I was going to say dancing skills! Gosh Jack..." he chuckled at her boldness
The boy's phone lit up again for some reason, catching Rose's attention once again.
"Let's see what I posted" she grabbed the phone hoping he had kept her finger print saved.
Jack let her slide so she could sit beside him on the bench, then wrapped an arm around her and put his hand on her knee to keep her close.
"Looks good, the cake on the back looks delicious" He said, trying to not make it obvious he was in fact analyzing the composition of the photograph in the back of his mind.
"I didn't take this"
"What?"
"I didn't take this photo... I didn't realize they were serving dessert already, how long have we been outside?"
"Half an hour maybe?" Rose stood up immediately and started pacing, her breathing had increased. Jack stood up as well "Are you okay?"
"Jack, I didn't take that picture!"
"Don't worry, you can just delete it, right?"
"No! You don't understand. It means someone else has access to my account!"
The pictures, the texts, all the love declarations between her and Jack. They know what you're doing, be careful... that's what it meant! Who could have taken that image?
Cal.
Of course! How could I be so naive? Sabrina. Where would she get the statistics from? If not from MY ACCOUNT. I'm so stupid to think they wouldn't check my DM's or what I post on close friends. HOW CAN I BE SO STUPID? Cal said: "I'll have the pictures edited AND uploaded" God why? My head was orbiting around Jack the entire time and it blinded me! This whole time Cal was aware of what i did, who i was with and where we were.
"Cal knows everything" she whispered
"What?"
"Cal knows everything! Jack!"
He ran towards her. Somehow he already knew, he just didn't want to confirm it.
"Hey it's alright, it's alright, don't panic"
"Jack no... he... he read everything, he knows..."
Jack led her to the bench again, she hyperventilated even more. Her arms and legs felt heavy and numb, she wanted to disappear.
"Hey calm down, I'm right here"
"I can't... go back... inside..." She managed to say between breaths
"You don't have to, it's alright"
"I'm gonna throw up"
"What? now?"
Jack led her to the end of the railing so she could throw up at the sea. She could barely stand, he held her tightly. Rose was about to faint...
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY FIANCEÉ!"
Cal grabbed the Rose and shook her against him as he pushed Jack away, he couldn't stand being close to the guy that 'stole' his fiancée.
"She doesn't feel good, I was just taking care of her" Jack explained
"Thank you for your services, but we must go back"
"Cal no, I don't feel..."
"You'll feel better once you eat"
"No..."
"Look man, she said no"
"Don't you dare tell me what to do! I know how to care for my girl"
"No you don't! You don't know what she needs!"
"And you do?"
"Yes"
"Stop arguing..." Rose said weakly, her legs couldn't hang on any longer, the stress was consuming her.
"You're shivering, you must be freezing" Cal put his blazer over her shoulders
"Wait I think she's running a fever" Jack tried to touch Rose's forehead
"Don't touch her!"
Everything went black for Rose.
