Chapter 1: Monarchs

The young girl stirs in bed. A knock at her door is heard.

"Your Highness?" a droid's voice says, sounding female.

The girl sits up quickly. "Yeah, I'm waking up, I'm waking up," she responds, her voice still tired.

"Excellent, Princess. Breakfast should be ready soon, and I know you enjoy being there before your parents," the protocol droid on the other side of the door says with a chuckle.

"You would be correct, Miss FK," the girl responds.

The droid sighs. "Princess Tara, you know not to call me that. I am FK-71, Human cyborg relations. Their Majesties will discuss this with you, My Lady, I will be sure of it."

Tara chuckles. She slides out of bed and into some nicer clothes to go to the meal. Before leaving her chambers, she first looks in the mirror. Her light skin with orange splotches dotted around her face, the biggest one being on her right cheek. Her hazel eyes, with both her eyelids having the orange skin. Her light brown hair barely reaching her shoulders, with no hair coming down the back of her head. Instead, she has one bald lekku coming down the middle, coming down to about 1 inch longer than the rest of her hair. It has blue stripes around it as well as the tips of the two montrals reaching about 2 inches above her skull. Her human ears, bigger than most as they are supporting miniature lekku sprouting from her ear lobes, the skin colored white from her ears to the lekku, still maintaining thin blue stripes along the lekku and even the helixes of her ears. She quickly glances down at her right wrist before adjusting her long sleeve and then running out the door.

Going through the palace on Coruscant, she makes her way towards the dining hall that she and her parents use to enjoy private meals. Opening the door, she is pleased to see she is the first person there. She takes a seat at the round table, and it isn't long before her parents get there. She looks at them. They are both middle aged humans, with a low resemblance to Tara, except for general skin tone and the hair color she shares with her father, while her mother has thick black hair.

"Good morning, mother. Good morning, father. Beat you," she says. Her father laughs as he escorts his wife hand in hand to their seats.

"Well it's hard to beat you, my dear. At least, not when FK-71 has 'Important news regarding your daughter, Sire.'"

Tara lightly chuckles.

"Don't give FK-71 a hard time, you know how she reacts to this kind of behavior from you, Tara," her mother says before hugging her aggressively.

"Yes, Your Majesty, anything you say," Tara replies, making the three of them laugh.

2 servants come in with the food, which the family eats peacefully until there is a quick knock at the door.

"King Eric? Queen G'yaté?" A voice from the other side of the door says, sounding frantic and out of breath.

"Yes? Please come in," King Eric says, concern showing in his voice.

The door opens to show a uniformed guard carrying a hologram projector. "There's been an attack. Senator Amidala's ship exploded on the landing bay just a few moments ago."

Tara spits her drink back into the container. "What? Is she alright? What happened? Is there still a danger?" She responds with, asking a million questions at once.

"The report says the Senator is unharmed, Your Highness. The guard is being moved to high alert. Today's Senate Session is still happening, Sire. Will you be attending?" The guard says.

"Yes, we must, and thank you for informing us," Queen G'yaté says, looking down at Tara as the guard leaves the room. "I know you're worried about your Senator friend, but she is strong and she is alright."

"We had best eat quickly. We would not want to be late," King Eric says, with his wife and daughter both nodding in agreement as they sit back down to finish their breakfast.

As the meeting in the Chancellor's office discussing Dooku ends, Tara is arriving at the Senate Building with her parents. Walking through the halls, she sees Senator Amidala and rushes towards her.

"Senator Amidala! I heard what happened, I'm so glad you're okay!" Tara shouts as she squeezes Padme into a hug.

"Yes Princess, I'm glad to see you too," Padmé responds. "Are your parents here as well?"

"We are here, Senator. I'm sorry about what happened," Queen G'yaté says.

"Don't be, Your Majesties. Instead, I think we need to focus on who is trying to kill me and if it has anything to do with the growing conflict that is the Confederacy of Independent Systems," Padmé says with a curtsy towards the King and Queen.

"Yes, we heard the news about Senator Organa's decision that Alderaan is leaving the Republic and is currently in negotiations with the coalition, as far as we're aware," King Eric says. "I am aware he is a good friend of yours, correct Senator?"

"Yes sir, we have been friends for years and I'm saddened to see he lost hope in the Republic. I can't imagine allying himself with Count Dooku would do him any better."

"How is my homeworld, Senator? Is there any talk of-" Queen G'yaté asks the Senator before pausing mid-sentence.

"There-there's no talk that I've heard about Naboo leaving the Republic, Queen G'yaté, which relieves me greatly."

"Do you think that the movement might have anything to do with the assassination attempt, Padmé?" Tara asks, still seeming troubled.

"It-" Padmé says with hesitation, not wanting to discuss this with someone so young. "It is a possibility, Princess. However, the Jedi Council has assigned 2 Jedi to me for my protection, Master Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker."

"Well, then you are in good hands. Master Kenobi is a talented Jedi Knight and I have heard of Skywalker's skills, you will be quite safe," King Eric says, assuring Padmé.

"Yes sir, I have seen Kenobi's skills first hand and I am sure Anakin has developed his own over the years. Now, the Senate Session is starting soon, and I must be there."

"Do I have to go?" Tara asks with a slightly whiny tone as Padmé leaves the trio.

"You specifically asked to come today, so you will attend this session, young lady," King Eric says to his daughter.

"But I came to see Padmé, and she's alright, so my job is done."

"Now My Dear, that's not what you do here. Yes it is the Senate's job to introduce and pass bills, but considering the situation the galaxy is in right now, it would serve us best to be there during these troubling times."

Tara sighs. "Yes father, I will go to the session."

"That's better. Now, we'd better get going," he replies looking at his wife, who takes Tara's hand as the 3 of them walk to their seats.

Took a while for me to get around to fixing the holes in this writing, hopefully it should flow better with the rest of the story
