Hey everybody! I'm back from my year-long break and today is the third anniversary of this story. To celebrate my return, I'm going to be posting three new chapters for this story.

Now then, before we get this party started, let me go ahead and answer some reviews:

starrat: The last reference your missing is The Lion King.

Carlisle Fan 22: Thanks! I'm very glad you like the chapter.

Disneyfangirl774: I'm very glad you liked the references and the song. I just had to incorporate that song into the story since it fits perfectly in that scene.

Lilgrimmapple: You kinda forgot the part where Ratigan explained that the third version of him that tried to kill Anna had undergone an excruciating ordeal that she just witnessed and his transformation of becoming like the other two Ratigans are complete. And yes, Ratigan has no idea that Basil is alive and is The Masked Phantom. But when he does somewhere in the story, he's going to be completely surprised. Also, despite Anna not smiling even though it was a small thing, I wanted her to be surprised when she found out that the masked man dancing before her was Basil himself. I'm very glad you liked that chapter so far.

FirecrackerWolf: Well, action is a bit of my forte, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Guest: Glad you like both the film references and the rescue scene. As for car scene, Basil did say that five years has changed him. And yes, when Ratigan finds out that Basil is The Masked Phantom, he will try to kill him after making a fool of him for so many years and taking Anna from him will also increase his rage even further since he hates him. Also, being an evil king can have its quirks, he can do whatever he wants. But once Basil finds out what Ratigan did to her, he will be displeased. Now for the last part, you'll have to read the story in order for those questions of yours to be answered.

Misstykata: Very glad you like the story so far and I'm even more glad to have you on board for the ride.

Last thing though is that I don't own any of the characters of The Great Mouse Detective or Lilgrimmapple's character, those go to there respectful owners. The OCs you will see in this story belong to me. Constructive criticism is allowed to help me improve, but flamers are not.

Enjoy!

Chapter 17: On The Run

I was free at last. Far from the reach of that devil. Now all that was left was to keep running and get as far away from that monster as I possibly could.

Even though I was free, that didn't mean it was over as the influence of evil would stop at nothing to take me back to that monster. I knew there was no safe place for me.

As I said before, I had friends that I could count on, and allies that I never even knew yet would be there for me.

November 26, 2018 9:50 p.m.

Sirens blazed all across Kingsland. Everyone knew that whenever the alarm was raised it meant two things. An intruder was in the city and every Royal Guard out there is on high alert or everyone must stand at attention to hear the announcement of the new queen of Britannia as it was said on either of their holo-screens or radios and more instructions for the people after the wedding. However, the latter was never announced as every speaker around the city blazed with a male voice shouting, "ALL ROYAL GUARDS! BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE MASKED PHANTOM! HE IS HERE IN KINGSLAND AND HAS TAKEN THE KING'S FIANCE! I REPEAT, THE MASKED PHANTOM HAS TAKEN THE KING'S FIANCE!"

Every citizen within the city became shocked. The Masked Phantom, here in the city? They only heard stories about him and even read his proclamation five years ago. They even knew that he was the face of the rebellion and how he was going to lead everyone to freedom.

At the traffic, everyone within their vehicles listened while everyone on the sidewalk stopped walking as the speaker with the male voice continued shouting, "ALL CITIZENS, LISTEN UP! IF ANY OF YOU SEE OR FIND THE MASKED PHANTOM WITH THE KING'S FIANCE, CONTACT THE ROYAL GUARDS IMMEDIATELY! IF ANYONE AIDS HIM IN HIS ESCAPE WITH THE KING'S FIANCE WILL BE CONSIDERED A REBEL AND A TRAITOR TO BRITANNIA, AND WILL BE EXECUTED!"

Everyone began to hear tires screech as they looked behind and saw a car swerving around the corner before coming to where the traffic was. One good look at it, and they could tell that it looked like it turned to swiss chess. It was a complete mess.

Inside the vehicle, Basil, still dressed as The Masked Phantom, tells Anna, "C'mon, let's go!"

Anna starts unbuckling while Basil quickly opens the door and goes around the car. He opens the door and offers his hand to her which she gladly takes. Before they started running, Anna was forced to lift up her dress slightly so she wouldn't trip.

As the two individuals ran, many people were shocked to see The Masked Phantom in person who also had King Ratigan's fiance with his hand on hers. However, a group of Royal Guards who were on lookout found him running from a crowd with the king's fiance as one of them said, "There he is!"

Basil takes another turn, leading to the alleyway while saying, "This way!"

The Royal Guards followed them as they split up.

While Basil continued to lead Anna through the alleyway by hand, they took another turn, but a Royal Guard appeared with a rifle as he pointed it at Basil and yelled, "Freeze!"

Anna yelps while Basil keeps her behind him. However, she looked behind as five more Royal Guards appeared and one of them also carried a rifle. Basil seemed to sense that there was more behind them as he placed his arm on her without looking and moved her as all six of the Royal Guards were facing him side to side. "Give it up, Phantom," one of the Royal Guards said. "You've got nowhere to run. Hand us the woman and surrender."

Basil raised his hands slightly into the air, feigning surrender while he sarcastically said in a smooth-tone, "Oh dear, it looks like you've caught me gentleman. Why don't you come a little closer and cuff me first before taking this beautiful lady back with you." As the Royal Guards slowly move towards him, his voice changes back to his original British voice as he mutters to Anna, "See those crates on the left?"

Anna looks to the left as she sees the crates he mentioned. "Yeah," she muttered.

"When I say now, run behind those crates."

"What about you?"

"Don't worry about me." Behind the black visors of his mask, he winks at her. "I'll be just fine." When one of the Royal Guards with a rifle comes close, he grabs the rifle while yelling, "Now!"

Anna didn't have to be told twice as Basil made the Royal Guard, who was still holding the rifle, to fire at the other Royal Guard who also had a rifle right at his shoulder, causing him to scream and drop to the ground. She goes behind the crate, and watches in complete shock as a Royal Guard took out a knuckle-knife and charges at Basil, but he uses the weight of the Royal Guard who had the rifle against him to toss him down and make him kick the other Royal Guard as he was knocked down to the ground. Taking the rifle from the Royal Guard, another one pulls out a club and charges at him. He swings at him as it was blocked by the rifle that Basil took, then he uses that same rifle to toss him down and twirls it around like how a soldier would as he places the butt of it on the ground.

The two Royal Guards who still stood were in complete shock as they looked at one another, then back at him. Basil motions his hand for them to come here. Taking the gesture, one Royal Guard charged at him with a club and was about to swing, but Basil easily dodged that as he used the butt of the rifle to hit the Royal Guard at the gut, then used the rifle to once again toss him down and drop the rifle in the process. Believing that The Masked Phantom made a mistake in dropping that rifle, he charged at him with his club raised. Only to realize he underestimated him as Basil blocked it with his arm and hit him in the throat, causing him to gag and drop his club as Basil quickly caught it and used it to hit him in the gut, then uppercutted him using that club as he was knocked flat on his back.

Three Royal Guards got up while one was already charging at Basil. He tried to swing his club, but Basil reacted quickly as he grabbed him and slammed his head at the wall. As the other two charged at him, Basil quickly pulled out a silver ball with a switch from out of his utility belt as he pulled it down in the middle. A black pole extends slightly to that of a club as he uses that along with the other that he took to defend himself as clubs smacked against each other. Wood against wood, and wood against metal as one tried to get Basil, then one Royal Guard missed a swing as Basil swung his metal club and connected the side of a Royal Guard's face as the force sent him towards the wall. Basil blocks the other Royal Guards club and uses the wooden club to hit him at the elbow, causing it to crack as the Royal Guard yelped in pain and dropped his club. He knees the Royal Guard to the stomach as he becomes hunched over and Basil hits him hard on the noggin with his metal club, knocking him out instantly.

A Royal Guard whom Basil hit with his metal club and sent him to the wall, tried to swing at him again, but Basil used that same club on him to block it. He notices one Royal Guard coming at him from the front as he manages to recover from his fatigue, charged at him with his knuckle-knife thrusted forward. Basil quickly uses the wooden club to smack the Royal Guard's wrist, making him yelp in pain as he drops it and is forcibly turned around as he is stabbed through the stomach of his comrade. The other Royal Guard behind Basil managed to recover from getting his head slammed to the wall. Despite his head bleeding, he already took out his Bowie Knife and was to stab him from behind.

Sensing the guard behind him, Basil shoves the two Royal Guards and kicks the knife away, then kicks him again, only this time at the stomach as he groans in pain. The Royal Guard pulls out his knife from his comrade and raises it as he was going to try and stab him, but Basil turns around and hits the Royal Guard with the wooden club on the side of his head, breaking it after hitting him so hard as the Royal Guard smacked the other side of his head to the wall. Basil spun around and kicked the last guard on the head, knocking him down to the ground.

Tossing the now broken wooden club, Basil turns to face Anna, who still had a shocked look on her face after what just transpired. How the hell did Basil learn Martial Arts? Coming out of her stupor, Basil smiled as he took off his hat and gave a small bow, as if he just performed an amazing feat in front of a small audience. Anna gave out her own smile and she nodded while muttering, "Showoff."

Her eyes widened as she gasped while Basil's ears heard the hammer of a pistol being pulled. The Royal Guard who got shot by his own comrade managed to stand, despite the pain of his shoulder as he already took out his pistol and pointed it at Basil. Before he could pull the trigger with Basil putting his hat back on, dodging it, and whipping out his pistol so he could shoot him, Anna reacted much quicker as she whipped out the platinum watch and pressed the middle button.

Basil saw Anna disappear in a flash of light, then he saw a small pile of her dress on the ground along with the golden flower. He turned around as the gun was fired, but not at him as the Royal Guard was thrown into the air and crashed on a pile of garbage. Anna reappeared in a flash of light, now only wearing a simple white shirt and puffy white dress trousers with her hair loose. She used the power of the platinum watch to stop time and undress a little as she took her opportunity to help Basil and uppercut the Royal Guard. As he was now laying before her, Anna's face turned to an angry sardonic scowl as she constantly kicked his chest and stomach while muttering gibberish curses.

Basil ran over to her as he wrapped his arms around her and said, "Easy, easy, Anna! He's finished!"

She seemed to calm down with Basil's arms around her. Basil could tell that she was angry and she needed something to let out some steam, something he couldn't blame after all what she's gone through. However, they heard a Royal Guard yell, "I heard gunfire, it came this way!"

"Come, Anna," Basil said. "We need to leave."

He took her by the hand and led her out of the alleyway. When they got out and were running across the road, Anna yelped as a truck swerved to the side and Basil embraced her. The truck crashed as another one came, then Basil quickly took her before more Royal Guards came out of those trucks. He led her to another alleyway and made another turn, only to come to a dead-end. "Oh, great. Now what do we do?" Anna said.

"Not to worry," Basil answered her as he picked her up bridal-style, making her squeak in surprise. "Just hang onto me."

He taps the back heels of his boots two times as Anna hears that strange whirring noise, just as a group of Royal Guards came around and one of them said, "There he is!" Some of them took their pistols while others had either rifles or assault rifles as all of them pointed at Basil's back. "Shoot him, but don't hit the girl!" Another Royal Guard said as all of them opened fire.

Basil jumped from one wall to the next as every Royal Guard kept shooting, but none of them landed a hit as he came to the rooftop and took off. As he was carrying Anna while running on the rooftops, Royal Guards down below who were riding a truck saw Basil as they started shooting their rifles at him. Anna yelped as she kept her arms wrapped tightly around him and her face buried in his chest. Basil wasn't going to let a single bullet pierce or graze her, not as long as he kept moving and kept her safe.

He took another turn on the rooftops while high above, a blimp noticed him as searchlights were already shining above him. On the blimp, a Royal Guard said, "There he is, I found him!" Another Royal Guard went to a mounted light-machine gun. "Stop him!"

The light-machine gun fired as it tore through the rooftops. Basil was forced to stop as he faced the blimp. Anna looked up as she thought it was over, they were finally caught and she was forced to return to Ratigan. To make it even worse, Basil would be executed for attempting to rescue her. However, she looked at him as he smiled, much to her confusion. But then...her ears heard something whizzing through the air. Looking to where the direction of the noise was coming from, her eyes widened as a missile soared through the air and exploded on the blimp.

She looked at Basil as he laughed, then he looked at her and said, "Hope you like the beginning part of the fireworks? 'Cause the next part of the show will begin soon."

Anna was confused by what he said, but didn't have time to ponder on that as her gaze went up to the now descending blimp. "Uh, Basil."

"I know, just hang on!"

He tapped the back heels of his boots two times again as that same whirring that Anna heard came back and he took off to a run. She screamed as Basil made a mighty leap off the rooftop, just as the blimp came crashing down and exploded in a fiery glory, and pulled out his grapple gun from his utility belt as he pointed forward and fired it. The hook and cable soared through the air and attached itself towards a chimney, then they were yanked forward as Basil activated the retractable function and he landed on another rooftop while sliding his feet on the ground. Cutting the cable and putting the grapple gun back in his utility belt, he carried Anna away as he kept running from one rooftop to the next.

When they put enough distance, they arrived at the center part of the city. It was there that Anna saw a building with a golden statue of Ratigan on the rooftop and below the building held a sign that was held by two pillars that said: The History of King Ratigan and Britannia. Anna couldn't deny that Ratigan was sure full of himself as this was his museum which held so much history focusing on him.

Basil puts her down, then asks her, "Anna, mind if I borrow that watch?" Anna shrugged her shoulders and gave him the watch. He opens it up and checks the time as it reads 10:30. "Perfect, right on time." Closing the watch and giving it back to Anna, he mutters, "And cue searchlights."

As Basil predicted, more searchlights, this time on the ground, were shining across the rooftops. They were trying to find The Masked Phantom along with King Ratigan's fiance. However, they caught something on the rooftops, but it wasn't The Masked Phantom and the girl they were after as all the searchlights were pointed in one direction, and on a different rooftop no less. Anna seemed to notice the searchlights pointing to one area and could barely make out what it was. She squinted her eyes and said, "What is that?"

"Here," Basil said as he gave her a small pair of binoculars he took out of his utility belt. "See for yourself."

Anna brings the binoculars to her eyes...only for them to widen with complete shock. "Oh, my God!"

The Royal Guards down below were even shocked as well from what they were seeing…

Above the rooftops stood not one Masked Phantom, but literally four of them!

Anna couldn't take her eyes off of those four masked individuals. Each of them possessed the same hat and cloak as Basil has. However, she couldn't tell what they looked like, but the fourth one on the far right looked like it had long ears like a rabbit. She wasn't sure if she was right or if the searchlights were messing with her vision. The bottom line was there were more Masked Phantoms. The question was, who were they behind their masks?

While Anna continued to gaze at those mysterious masked individuals, there was beeping on the side of Basil's right ear. He brought his finger inside his ear, and pressed a hidden communicator as a male voice said, "Basil, do you copy? Over."

"I read you loud and clear," he answered while Anna looked at him.

"Everything is prepared. Begin Phase 2."

"Excellent," he beamed. "Good work."

Anna had an odd look as Basil took his finger out of his ear. Who was he talking to? Putting that aside for now, she gives back the binoculars as Basil activates his gauntlet. As the lid slides up, he presses a button, then there is a screech from every speaker across Kingsland as both Royal Guard and citizen alike look here and there. With a small smile, he mutters, "So it begins." Bringing the microphone towards his mouth, he then said in his smooth-tone, "People of Kingsland!" His voice rang out from all the speakers, much to everyone's surprise. Even the Royal Guards were surprised as they continued to look here and there. Somehow, he must've jammed the frequency while he continued, "If any of you has witnessed the destruction of that blimp and could see fire in the distance. Then that is only the beginning of what I could really do to bring freedom to all of Britannia! To the Royal Guards who are at the center of the city. The four masked individuals you see before you is the resolution of how far a symbol of the rebellion could go."

The moment when Basil mentioned four more masked individuals, every citizen became shocked to find out that there were more Masked Phantoms other than the real one, and every Royal Guard who were not at the center part of the city while finding both the true Masked Phantom along with the king's fiance, were even shocked as well when there was more of them. Just what the hell are they dealing with? How could such a small rebel group infiltrate the city and cause so much trouble in just under a single day?

"Before you even think about trying to catch these followers and see which one of them is the real me, let me ask you a question. Who is the real enemy here? Me and the rebels of The Freedom Lands, or the tyrant of a king you serve? The man who would commit these atrocities to people like you, and the one who would make you harm people who have done nothing to you. What would you do if the person you cared about, the ones you love, or maybe your own family were to stand before you, and you to harm them? Open your eyes to the injustice your so-called king has shown you!"

Some of the Royal Guards had questionable looks on their faces. They have seen everything that's happened, but they were just following orders. Others were even thinking about what he said. Even if it was true, it's not like there was anything personal to what they were doing, they had their own families, friends, and even their loved ones to think about. As long as they served their king, they were protecting the ones they cared about. So why couldn't anyone else do the same, which wouldn't have to resort to so many tragedies? All they have to do is listen and do what they're told, or pledge their loyalties to the king so they could all live peacefully. Was it that hard for so many people to do it?

However, there were so many other Royal Guards who thought otherwise. They knew that King Ratigan was powerful. No one could ever challenge him. Even if this rebel group along with The Masked Phantom were to miraculously succeed in bringing down their king. It could mean the collapse of society and bring chaos to the land of Britannia. Is that what these people want? To live in a world where there is no order and be apart in this barbaric new world. Don't anyone realize that this world needs King Ratigan and the power that he alone possesses in this world? These people and anyone serving under the king's rule need to realize why they not only need him, but they need people like the Royal Guards to bring peace to this world. The real enemy wasn't him or any Royal Guard. It was The Masked Phantom! Couldn't anyone see that?

"If he truly was all-powerful and claims to be 'The Lord of Time and Space', then he would've ended the rebellion along with me five years ago. All he does is corrupt and lie in order to make anyone bend to his will. Well, the lies stop here, and I will bring forth a real truth which will silence all the lies. To prove that, I will commemorate this night to not only the destruction of that blimp, but a very special night for all to remember. For any Royal Guard who is still at the center part of the city, take a look at that building behind you. The one that has King Ratigan's statue."

Every Royal Guard who, as Basil said, was still at the center part of the city turned to look at the building.

"To other Royal Guards who are not here yet and for every citizen here in Kingsland. Remember the museum which held so much history here in Britannia? Well, that museum has been built by nothing more than lies, corruption, and death. The man who you call king may have power, but he is nothing more than a fraud. Which is why I'm going to make it disappear from this world." The moment Basil said those words, Royal Guards were murmuring to one another. What did he mean he was going to make it disappear? Other Royal Guards who had a half a brain who were either still at the center part of the city or were on their way there could vaguely guess what he meant by what he said while he continued, "In its place will show you the real truth that hope will continue to live on so long as I'm still breathing, and freedom will always be forever."

When his speech ended, Anna was astounded. She never imagined Basil would speak like that. Guess he was right about one thing, five years can change a person, but she never expected him to change that much. Basil looks at her while he brings out that same silver ball with a switch as he pulls it down to the middle and the black pole extends slightly, then he says in his normal voice, "Hope you like this part of the show, but I have a question for you...Do you like music?"

This caught her off-guard, but she did answer while having an odd look, "Um...yeah."

Liking the answer, he smiles at her. Tapping his metal club on a chimney right next to him, he moves both his club and arm around like a conductor with his baton.

"Basil," Anna said as she crossed her arms. "What are you doing?"

"Shh! Don't speak, just listen and keep your eyes on that building."

With a sigh, she uncrossed her arms and looked at that building. However, her keen ears heard something. This didn't go unnoticed by both the Royal Guard and citizens alike. Every citizen who was in their homes either came out or opened their windows to look outside as they too heard something. It sounded like...music? It started out low, then it started to grow.

(Tchaikovsky-1812 Overture)

Anna's eyes widened when she recognized that music as it was playing everywhere across the city. Everyone looked here and there while others listened to that music. Oddly enough, there was something...familiar, almost like a memory from somewhere in their lives but couldn't remember where.

As the music got stronger, Basil said, "Now for the crescendo...all the way to the finale...begin fireworks...Now!"

On que, the moment he pointed his metal club at the building...KA-BOOM! Every Royal Guard scattered here and there from the explosion of the building while the four masked individuals made a run for it. Kingsland's museum was being destroyed and every part of history detailing Britannia's greatest king was gone in a single blaze. More explosions destroyed the building as the golden statue of Ratigan fell off and crashed at the ground, it's golden head came off and rolled at the ground until it crashed to a truck while Anna had already gasped and covered her muzzle with both hands as her eyes kept watching the fiery spectacle. Basil laughed and kept moving his arms as if he commanded the orchestra. "Beautiful, is it not?"

Anna couldn't deny that it truly was beautiful. Just seeing Ratigan's little museum go up in fire and smoke was quite the spectacle. However, as Basil raised his arms, fireworks shot out from the fire and exploded in the sky, giving more of the colorful spectacle as every citizen watched. But then, a giant holographic screen appeared before all to see as it said this:

JOIN THE REVOLUTION!

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM!

(End Music)

When the music ceased and the fireworks kept exploding in marvelous colors. Anna and Basil looked at each other. "Come, Anna," Basil said to her as he offered his hand. "Let us be off."

She couldn't agree with him more as he took his hand and started to lead her down the rooftop by taking the stairs which led them to another alleyway. As they kept close to the shadows, Basil let go of Anna as he activated his gauntlet and pressed a red button, activating the tracker as it blinked. He then brought Anna to the wall while he pressed another button on his gauntlet. "Just relax," he tells her as he wraps both his cloak and arms around her in a deep embrace, making her gasp in surprise as her ears redden, just as she hears the sound of electricity running, and he becomes transparent.

While she didn't realize that her head had also became transparent as she and Basil were now invisible, she couldn't help but stutter, "B-B-B-Basil, w-wh-what're you-"

"Shh! Try not to speak too loud," he mutters to her, "and try not to move, or else someone will notice."

As Basil kept his arms around her, Anna sighed as she laid her head on his neck and embraced him. She never knew that he was smiling at her while he too placed his head on her neck.

Neither side moved a single inch while any Royal Guard who passed by didn't notice them. It didn't take long as a carriage arrived. The driver was none other than Dawson as he was no longer wearing that Royal Guard uniform disguise. Instead, he had a black bowler hat with a grey band on his head, black suit coat, white dress shirt over a red vest, black trousers, black boots with silver soles, and over his eyes he had black oval shaped sunglasses. In his right hand, where both hands had white gloves on, he held what looked to be a pocket watch from Anna's perspective, but as he closed it and put it back inside his coat, he looked back and in front while making sure the coast was clear as he looked at the alleyway and said, "To anyone who wears the mask…"

"Bears the symbol of the rebellion," Basil said as he let go of Anna, becoming visible in the process. He presses the button of his gauntlet as electricity runs and he too becomes visible, then he leads her to the carriage as he opens the door for her and motions her inside while saying, "After you." Taking the courtesy, she steps inside, but before she sits down on the seat, Basil tells her, "Don't sit down on the seat just yet. Sit down on the floor."

Doing what she's told, Anna sat down on the floor while Basil got inside the carriage and closed the door. As Dawson flicked the reins, commanding the horses to move the carriage, Basil pressed a few buttons from his gauntlet, then electricity runs as the collar of his cloak glowed slightly and the glow went downwards as it changed the front of his cloak from blue to black, and the glow from the underside went upwards as it changed from red to white.

While the color change was occurring, he sighed as he took off his hat and set it to the side, brushed his hair back, then took off his mask and put it inside his suit saying, "Well, that was an interesting night."

Anna watched as Basil once again took out that same silver ball with a switch, this time pulling it all the way down as the black pole extended all the way to that of a cane as that too was set to the side. He bends down and opens a secret compartment on the floor, revealing two black bags as he picks up one bag and sits on the seat and gives the other bag to Anna while she has an odd look on her face and asks, "What's in these?"

"That bag you're holding contains your disguise," Basil explained. "This bag is shared by both me and Dawson as this one contains his gear." He unzips his bag and pulls out his tophat with a grey band while adding, "Which, of course, is carried by him in case if we-"

He was interrupted as Dawson knocked three times on the secret slide door while they felt the carriage slow down. He slides the secret door as Dawson tells him, "Basil, guards are coming soon after they've finished checking another carriage."

Basil looks ahead as he sees another carriage in front of them along with two Royal Guards who were almost finished checking the carriage. "Bullocks!" He mutters as he slides the secret door shut. He quickly takes his other hat and stuffs it inside the black bag and zips it as he didn't have enough time to take off his utility belt and gauntlet. Putting the black bag inside the secret compartment, he looks at Anna and says, "Guards are coming."

"Shit! What do we do?"

"First give me your bag, then take off your shoes." She gave him an odd look again. "Trust me, Anna."

Knowing she had to listen or else get caught by the Royal Guards, she complied as she gave him her bag as he put it inside the secret compartment, then took off her heeled shoes as she gave it to him as that too was placed inside the secret compartment. Closing the compartment, he got down on his knees and motioned her to come here. She goes to him as he says to her, "Just relax."

Then without warning, he quickly brought his mouth towards her as he knocked her down to the floor, causing her eyes to widen and her ears turn bright red as she gasped in surprise. Basil took this opportunity to bring his tongue inside her mouth as it carrassed the roof of her mouth. As their chests were touching one another and his arms were wrapped around her while his cloak acted as their makeshift blanket, Anna couldn't help but melt as her heart was beating like a jackrabbit from the sudden kiss. She felt like fireworks exploded in her mouth as her eyes slowly closed. However, she could hear the distorted voice at the back of head yelling, Anna, you cannot be with him! She seemed to ignore that voice as she wrapped her arms around him from the inside of his cloak and pressed her mouth to his. The moment she did that, she felt a shock in her head, but the pain was completely ignored. Anna, listen to me! You must remain alone! Once again, she didn't seem to listen as another shock went to her head, this time causing her to grunt slightly as the distorted voice said to her, Think about it, Anna. Do you think this is real the way he's doing this to you?

She wasn't sure if the distorted voice was right or not, but her body couldn't help itself as she wrapped her legs around his waist, exposing her foot slightly while their tails entwined. There were knocks at the carriage door as one of the Royal Guards said, "Open up, we need to check on your carriage."

Basil pulls his mouth out from hers, then kisses her neck as she gasps slightly. Whether the Royal Guards heard that gasp or if anyone inside didn't hear what they said, the Royal Guards opened the door. Only for one of them to get widened eyes and an embarrassed look while the other had a surprised look.

Basil stops kissing Anna's neck as she gives a small moan, then looks at the two guards with narrowed eyes as he says to them, "Do you gentlemen mind?"

Knowing there was a woman who they thought was probably having her way with this man and believing that they shouldn't be seeing this. One of the guards changed back to a serious look as he said with a sigh, "Get'em outta here!"

Shutting the door and fooling the two guards, Dawson didn't want to be told twice as he flicked the reins and the carriage started to move again. He didn't even know what Basil did inside there with Anna.

Back inside the carriage, Basil sat up and leaned his back on the seat, despite both him and Anna still being on the floor. He sighs as he says, "Well, that went as well as I hoped."

Anna crawled to him as she embraced him and laid her head on his chest. Basil smiles as he wraps her in his cloak, knowing that she needs to rest a little bit after everything that's happened in one night. However, it was only a matter of time before the three of them could leave Kingsland together.

But that didn't mean it was the end of their troubles. In fact, it was just the beginning.

So now there one step closer to leaving Kingsland and on their way to The Freedom Lands, but trouble is just right around the corner for our heroes. What will happen to them now? Find out in the next chapter!
