1 PIECE another time travel

"What's a Whitebeard pirate doing here in Alabasta?" Smoker asked glaring as he looked at Fire Fist Ace, he knew the man and about how he was captured because he was protecting his brother and because of his pride. Because he hadn't listened to Whitebeard or gotten any help from his extended family. He also knew how his death had effected Luffy, had effected Smokers Captain. How his death had broken part of Luffy. All because he hadn't thrown away his pride. All because he couldn't admit that he needed help or needed to run away. Sure it had kept Luffy from being caught, and Smoker would always be grateful for it not having been his captain on the execution stand that day…but it had also broken his captain. And Smoker hated his captain being hurt.

"I'm just waiting on-" Ace began to respond but Smoker had a sudden warning from his Observation Haki and smoothly stepped to the side just in time for Ace's eyes to bulge out as Luffy slammed into him and slammed him through a wall while Luffy himself had bounced slightly away and landed just in front of Smoker.

"Hi Smokey!" Luffy just grinned and laughed slightly as he looked at Smoker, waving and making Smoker sigh heavily but there was a small fond smile pulling at his lips.

"Straw Hat." The unspoken 'captain' for their ears alone as he nodded at the boy whose grin was slightly forced. His Captain knew who else was here. Knew who was here that he couldn't save last time but would do his damn best to save this time.

"Ace-nii!" Luffy said beaming happily when Ace came back through the wall and was grinning at Luffy.

"Luffy!" Ace said and the two brothers hugged before they jumped apart and set their arms on a table for an arm wrestling match.

"You two know each other." Smoker said flatly while his second in command, Tashigi rushed in looking worried but stopped at the sight of a Whitebeard pirate.

"This here is my baby brother!" Ace said as he and Luffy clasped hands and tensed their arms.

"So he's a Whitebeard pirate?" Tashigi asked making Ace shake his head in the negative.

"Nope! We're brothers from before we were pirates! Ain't that right Lu?" Ace asked grinning at his younger brother who grinned back.

"Yep! We've been brothers ever since the mountain bandits!" Luffy said and he wasn't really putting any effort into the arm contest, he didn't want to show his hand too early after all. Besides…he was focusing on not crying his eyes out at seeing Ace alive and well again.

"Mountain bandits?" Smoker asked wondering about that and why he hadn't known about that before. What did his Captain have to do with Mountain Bandits?

"Yep! Grandpa wanted us to be strong marines so he left us with Mountain Bandits! He got the strong part right at least!" Luffy said as if it wasn't a big deal and Ace laughed.

"Yeah even you being the weakest and a crybaby are stronger than most marines in the Blues Lu." Ace said grinning as the table began to crack down the middle.

"Oi I'm not a crybaby! And I'm not the weakest anymore Ace-nii! I'm strong now!" Luffy said protesting that bit and making Ace laugh.

"Yeah you got stronger for sure! You got a crew yet little brother?" Ace asked as if they weren't being watched by a dozen or so civilians and more than a few marines, including a well respected Captain who was just watching them both looking bemused.

"Of course I do! I've got a whole crew although one of them is at Water Seven right now!" Luffy said and Smoker smirked slightly at that. Well…he could help mess with the feared Whitebeard commander a little, especially since the table was about to break.

"Don't forget your spouses." Smoker said blowing on his cigars while his subordinates looked at him confused and curious as to why he hadn't tried to arrest the pirates yet.

"Spouses?" Ace asked blinking and wondering not only about how the marine knew but also if spouses meant what he thought it meant.

"Mhm. Two wives and one genderfluid spouse who is non-binary today." Luffy said and Ace's jaw dropped open as he gaped at his brother, his grip going slack and Luffy took that chance to win the arm wrestling match as the table broke in two.

"What!?" Ace demanded his voice higher pitched than normal as he stared at his brother in disbelief and shock. Luffy got married?! Without him!? Who married his brother?

"Lu…I need to meet and talk to these spouses of yours." Ace said his voice dark and protective and Luffy grinned at him while Smoker snorted slightly.

"Sure they're back at the ship with the rest of my crew and the old man." Luffy said and Ace looked torn between confusion and protective anger.

"Old man? And you trust your crew with your spouses?" Ace asked making Luffy nod his head.

"Yep! After all they're nakama too, besides they'd never hurt nakama. Oh and Gala's mom is there too but she showed up to check on Gala and meet her daughters spouses. And you know who the old man is Ace." Luffy said as he felt a familiar Haki, well a few of them actually, coming closer.

"I do?" Ace asked and then something tickled his Haki too, a familiar presence. Very familiar. He almost wished he had practiced his observation haki more with how familiar it felt.

"Well duh. You know who your dad is right?" Luffy asked tilting his head confused at Ace who tensed for half a second but relaxed and looked even more confused.

"Well yeah Whitebeard is my dad." Ace said making Luffy nod his head happily.

"Then you know who the old man is." Luffy said brightly and there was a booming laugh from outside the restaurant, making Smoker step aside and drag Tashigi with him to let Whitebeard and Marco into the small area.

"You're a cheeky brat." Whitebeard said grinning at Luffy who grinned back just as widely.

"Yo. We know your crew said they'd be waiting at the ship for you but we wanted to come in town and meet up with our wayward brother before you got back to them." Marco said raising a hand in greeting while Ace stared at them stunned. How the hell did they know he was here?! How did they know Luffy?

"Hope you don't mind us interrupting your reunion brat." Whitebeard said moving to sit at one of the seats that had been quickly vacated by anyone in the building.

"Nah it's fine! Ace-nii was probably about to run off to meet my crew and spouses anyways!" Luffy said and Marco snickered slightly.

"I think you two got here just before his brother complex acted up." Smoker said casually and making Marco snort while Whitebeard laughed. Ace went bright red and denied that he had a brother complex.

"What's a brother complex? Can I eat it?"

And then there was Luffy.
