Third POV
Raicho Suraisu knew she had been reincarnated into the Naruto universe, and she was very pleased about it. She loved the Naruto anime and while only remembering huge events like Pein destroying the Hidden Leaf Village, she was still psyched. She was born in a small village inside the Land of Fire. The village was near the border that separated the Land of Fire from the Land of Water.
Raicho was born into the Suraisu family a small shinobi clan known for its skill in Kenjutsu. The Suraisu had a few notable members in its clan's history. The most famous being Kazaki Suraisu who during the Third Great Ninja War became known as "The Shinobi Ripper" for having a high kill count second only to Minato Namikaze.
It was said that he only needed his pure skill with a Katana to run through an army like a knife through butter.
Raicho was born alongside Naruto's generation and couldn't wait to meet him and the rest of the Konoha Rookies. When Raicho was old enough she planned to convince her parents to send her to The Hidden Leaf's Shinobi Academy where she would become a lovely Kunoichi. She wouldn't let this life be a repeat of her previous one.
From her blurry and hazy memories, Raicho remembered that her previous life wasn't all too enjoyable. She was very quiet and didn't interact with many people. She remembered being picked on because she had no friends or because people thought she was weird. At age 26, she died after having a seizure in her apartment.
All alone
She sighed and shook her head. "Damn these thoughts. I can't concentrate at all," Raicho grumbled to herself. She just turned 4 and had an awesome birthday party a week ago.
Raicho is currently trying to balance a leaf on her fingertip with only her chakra. She received a book on chakra control exercises from her parents since it was obvious she wanted to become a kunoichi. This is one of the easier ones according to the book. "Easy my ass!" Raicho thought painfully as she overloaded the leaf in chakra causing it to blow up.
Her mother Mishiko, chuckled and patted her on the head, "Your chakra is far too potent and wild for you to complete this exercise." Raicho frowned. "Most of these easier exercises are for people that have less chakra than you or have great control and a lot of chakra."
Raicho's chakra is very special, to say the least. She already had more chakra than your average Genin and it is very wild, untamed even. When she first awakened her chakra a few days after her fourth birthday, it was like letting a beast out of a cage. She felt it thrash around inside herself but at the same time, it was intoxicating. She loved to relish in its warmth when she mediated or before she went to bed. She kind of thought of it as her own little blanket.
She looked up to her mother, "What should I do then since I can't possibly do this now?" She asked her mother who was supervising her. Her mother nodded and picked up the book on chakra control she had set in front of her. She flipped through the pages until she came to a stop.
"This one will do," she announced and gave the book to her daughter. "It's the Tree Climbing exercise, most won't even attempt it until they reach Genin, but I believe you are different and can do this." She told Raicho knowing her daughter would be able to handle something rather advanced.
Raicho thoroughly read the page and decided to give it a go. "So I apply chakra to my feet, so I can stick the tree when walking up and down it..." She mumbled to herself as she went through the steps feeling her chakra start to fluctuate in her feet. She wasn't going to start on a tall tree because she knew it would hurt a lot if she fell.
"I also have to improve my acrobatics and flexibility," Raicho knew they were important would definitely improve in those areas soon.
Raicho put her first foot onto the tree and felt it stick, she then went for the other foot and it also stuck.
Raicho smiled proud of her slight accomplishment but at the same time lost focus and fell off the tree landing on her rear. It stung quite a bit but she didn't care, now she was making progress. She took a deep breath in and exhaled ready to get back at it.
After about 2 hours of practice, Raicho was pretty worn out and was panting heavily. Raicho was using a kunai to mark her progress. Looking at all the marks of the tree, Raicho had made it about halfway up the tree.
She was a little upset at first but was reminded by her mother that she was doing something kids older than her had even yet to attempt. Mishiko got up and walked over to Raicho, "I'd say that's enough practice for today, so how about we go get some Dango?" As soon as Raicho heard her mother say Dango, she started drooling. Raicho may have a bit of a Dango obsession...
As the mother and daughter duo entered the shop they noticed Raicho's cousin and her mother were also there. They made their way over to greet them. "Ahh, hello Mishiko. And if it isn't little Rai-chan." Chiyo said ruffling Raicho's hair causing the girl to pout over how now messed up hair.
"How have you two been?" Chiyo asked them. Mishiko smiled, "We've been doing pretty good lately, Raicho is even working on the Tree climbing exercise. Anything new with you?" Chiyo grinned, "Same as always although, little over here Natsumi is giving me lots of trouble." She said jokingly. They all laughed and started to converse with each other.
Eventually, the mothers sent their kids off to go play together. Natsumi was the older of the two at the age of 6. Raicho looked up to her a lot so she was kind of like a big sister to her. Natsumi led them to her house and brung them to her backyard.
Raicho looked around and noticed it looked like someone had been training recently "Hey, Natsumi what have you been working on?" The elder of the two grinned. "I've been training super hard in my Kenjutsu. I wanna become a master swordswoman one day!" She said determined and went to go pick up a bokken.
Natsumi picked up a second bokken and shoved it into Raicho's arms. "Have you been practicing your Kenjutsu lately?" She questioned Raicho. Raicho shook her head, "I've been focusing on chakra control exercises, so I haven't practiced my Kenjutsu that much.
"Natsumi grinned and fell into her stance. "A little spar should you bring back up to speed, how about it?" Raicho nodded and shifted into her own stance, "No chakra allowed and first one to hit the ground losses," Natsumi nodded in agreement, "Let us begin!"
As soon as those words left her mouth the two girls wooden swords clashed together. Raicho twisted her body and went for a low strike. Natsumi saw this and deflected the attack giving her the opening she needed.
Natsumi went for a diagonal slash and unfortunately for Raicho, she wasn't able to counter. Raicho hissed in pain and lept back creating distance between the two.
Raicho glared at the now grinning Natsumi and charged towards her. Raicho jumped into the air and position herself for an overhead strike. Natsumi smirked, she already knew how to counter and was prepared.
Natsumi positioned her bokken in an overhead defensive position. Raicho saw that she took the bait and switched to a side slash. Unfortunately, Natsumi was caught off guard and ended up getting hit in the side. She winced in pain and fell over.
"Ahh Rai-chan that was too hard," she whined. Raicho gave her a smug look. "Some master swordswoman you'll be, can't even take one hit from a Bokken." Natsumi glared at Raicho, "One day you'll be begging me for lessons. Ohh! Natsumi-Sama please enlighten me in the arts of Kenjutsu!"
Raicho was about to retort the but their mothers had finally arrived. "Raicho! It's getting late out we need to get home!" Her mother shouted from inside the house. "You too Natsumi, say your goodbyes," Chiyo told her daughter.
Raicho held out a hand to Natsumi who was still laying on the ground. Their eyes met and they started to laugh. Natsumi and Raicho could never really be mad at each other. Raicho helped Natsumi up and they said their goodbyes. Finally, Raicho took her mother's hand and walked home.
Raicho ate dinner with her mother then went up to her room ready to get some sleep. She slipped out of her clothes and put on her nightwear. Raicho then slid under the covers and snuggled into the blankets.
She closed her eyes and started to slowly circulate her chakra around her body. Raicho loved when she felt the warm sensation of chakra swirling around inside of her chakra pathways.
Eventually, Raicho dozed off into a deep peaceful slumber.
The next 4 years went by with little change, Raicho got completely locked into her training and progressed splendidly. Raicho's chakra control had massive improvements, she mastered the Tree climbing exercise and the Water walking exercise.
While her chakra control wasn't anything too impressive it wasn't anything to sniff at either.
Raicho's Kenjutsu was also taken to new heights. She is currently making her own style as the Suraisu clan didn't suit her well.
Raicho's Clan's Kenjutsu style is focused on deflecting attacks and countering with heavy hits. Raicho still learned the basics of the style, but she couldn't back the strength needed for it.
At first, Raicho thought it was just because she was young and physically weak; However, as time went on Raicho realized she generally lacked physical strength in general.
She consulted her parents on the matter and after a few doctor's visits, it was determined that she had a slight defect in her muscles. Upon hearing this Raicho was quite pissed but sucked it up and dedicated even more time to physical training.
Raicho wasn't going to let some defect bring her down. So she created a Kenjutsu style based on the Suraisu Clan style. The style Raicho created focused on striking quickly and like the Suraisu style countering attacks. The moves Raicho would be using were based on whats she heard and books of famous Shinobi
Raicho grinned, she had already talked to her parents about going to the Hidden Leaf to join the academy a month ago. It took lots of persuasion and effort but eventually, they gave in. Raicho was due to move to the Hidden Leaf Village tomorrow.
She was psyched, she would be able to meet the main cast from the anime, become a renowned Kunoichi, and have the type of adventurous life she always wanted.
Or so she thought...
The only thing Raicho regretted is leaving behind Natsumi. She was her only real friend in the village, nobody was closer to Raicho than Natsumi. The two cousins and best friends promised to visit each other often.
Raicho then remembered she and Natsumi had planned to spend all day together today. "Sealing scrolls are really a miracle item when packing." With that thought, Raicho slipped out of bed to get ready for the day.
Both Raicho's parents were sitting at the dinner table eating breakfast and talking. Kaito her father noticed her presence first. "Good morning Rai, sleep well?" Kaito asked Raicho. Raicho smiled at him, "Yeah, I can't wait to go to Konoha!" She said excitingly. "But it does suck that Natsumi isn't coming with us."
Mishiko sadly smiled, "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll see them often. Konoha isn't that far from here. It's not like we're never going to see them again." Mishiko knew how much Raicho loved spending time with her older cousin.
"Anyways, going to Konoha open up many new doors. We'll be able to do many different things there, I'm sure you'll have fun and like it there." Kaito said trying to cheer up his daughter. Raicho's mood was brought back up and she sat down to eat breakfast with her parents.
"Yeah, everything will be fine."
Raicho finished her breakfast and got ready to leave..." I'll be with Natsumi all day we're going to the spending the rest of the day together!" Raicho shouted to her parents from the front door. "Okay just don't don't stay out too late!" Mishiko yelled from the kitchen. "Okay!" Raicho shouted and ran out the door.
Raicho ran through the streets with ease, she knew this village the back of her hand. Natsumi lived really close so it only took a few minutes to get there. She walked up to the door and knocked a few times, a few seconds later Chiyo opened the door.
Chiyo smiled at the girl before her, "Well if it ain't little Rai-chan, what can I do for you?" Raicho smiled back at the older woman she's known for so long. "Natsumi and I were going to spend my last day together, is she inside?" Raicho asked. Chiyo nodded, "Mhm, I'll go get her."
Chiyo went back inside and a minute later Natsumi came running out the door. Natsumi frantically grabbed Raicho and gave her a bear hug. "Nooooo, you can't goo, not yet!" She yelled. Raicho struggled in her grasp, "C-can't Bre-athe..." Raicho barely got out.
Natsumi stopped and let go, "O-oh sorry I got carried away..." She said sheepishly scratching her head. Raicho sighed, "We already talked about this, I'm still going to see you every now and then." Raicho winced when she remembered Natsumi's reaction to hearing about it for the first time.
Natsumi frowned, "I know but I still don't want you to go." Natsumi knew she couldn't and wouldn't stop Raicho but still was unhappy about it. Raicho looked at her awkwardly not knowing how to respond. Natsumi saw this and huffed, "But I can't change anything we're gonna make the most of this day, starting with Dango!" Natsumi also had an obsession with Dango.
The two girls locked eyes and for a split second, they knew exactly what the other was thinking.
The last one there pays...
At the same time, both girls took off, making a Beeline to the Dango shop. It took them about 30 seconds to make it to their destination. It was really close but unfortunately for Raicho, Natsumi made it their first.
Natsumi grinned evilly at Raicho, "Looks like I win again Rai-chan!" Raicho crossed her arms as she sat down. "I swear your cheating... I'll get you one of these days," Raicho mumbled.
"Aww don't be so mad, I'm not gunna run you dry of money." A smirk crossed Natsumi's face, "But seconds is definitely in order."
Just as Raicho was about to say something but a waitress cut her off, "Hello! What would-" The waitress stopped mid-sentence as she realized who exactly the two girls were.
"Oh, if it ain't Natsumi and Raicho, what a surprise! I didn't notice you, girls, at first." The two girls in question looked at their waitress to realize that it was one of their family friends Yasame.
Yasame is a trusted family friend of both girl's families. She often looks after Natsumi and Raicho when their parents can't. To Raicho she's practically a big sister like Natsumi.
Raicho brightened up seeing at seeing another familiar face. "Yasa-nee! You work here now?" Yasame nodded, "I'm working here part-time for some extra cash." "How have you two been, I haven't seen you both in a while."
Natsumi smiled, "We have gotten pretty invested into our training over the years so we haven't gotten out as much. But all around we've been doing great." Natsumi told her.
"She's still terrible with a sword," Raicho teased. Yasame giggled much to Natsumi's dismay. "Well if I remember correctly I'm up by 4 in our Kenjutsu spars.
Raicho blushed in embarrassment and turned away from them. Truth be told, Natsumi is actually way better in Kenjutsu than Raicho is. Raicho's heard that Natsumi has been honing her Kenjutsu skills since she was 3.
Yasame chuckled but decided to put a stop to this little argument, "Alright that's enough teasing from both of you." She brought out her notepad, "So the usual I'm guessing?"
Both girls grinned argument totally forgotten and nodded their heads eagerly.
Yasame smiled, "Your food will be here shortly." She said and walked off to the kitchen to put in their order.
The girls got back to their conversation and around 10 minutes later their food arrived. "Here you go, enjoy!" Yasame said laying the plate of Dango between the two girls.
After that Yasame started to walk away to help other tables but Raicho remembered she had something to tell her and called her back. "What is it Rai-chan?" Yasame asked. Raicho frowned, "I almost forgot to tell you I'm leaving for Konoha tomorrow." Raicho said sadly.
Yasame frowned slightly but quickly put back on a smile, "Well you better make sure to visit me often, or were gunna have some problems." Yasame joked trying to cheer up Raicho.
It seemed to work as a smile returned to Raicho's face and she nodded. "I'm gunna become a Kunoichi their and I promise to visit often! I'll even bring you guys presents!"
Yasame smiled softly at the ecstatic girl before her. Yasame looked down at her watch and noticed her shift had just ended. She then sat down next to Raicho, "My shift just ended so how about I spend some time with you two?"
Natsumi and Raicho immediately nodded in agreement. They would chat for around an hour before they left.
Raicho smiled softly, she wished days like this could last forever... She loved having nice long talks and hanging out with those close to her. But all things come to an end.
And come to an end it did because as Yasame walked Raicho and Natsumi home a loud explosion set them off balance.
People started to panic and scream.
Raicho thought it was something minor like a Ninjutsu accident. But there was one thing that she heard above all else that totally proved her wrong.
It only took four words to make Raicho's blood run cold, to make her shake in fear and complete utter terror.
"CLOUD NINJA ARE ATTACKING!"
And that wraps up this chapter! What do ya think, a nice happy chapter only to end off on a dark cliffhanger? This also leads me to my WARNING for the next chapter. This chapter is going to take a DARK turn. As said before this isn't going to be all sunshine and rainbows. Most of this chapter was but it serves as the purpose and you'll see why.
To be honest I'm really writing this story because I feel that there isn't enough good dark naruto fanfic. I've definitely found a few amazing dark fanfics but mostly it's all totally unrealistic. This story is going to take a more realistic and dark approach to the Naruto universe. I'll also be adding my own twist to certain things.
I may screw up sometimes or something will be poorly written out. In advance, if this happens I'm sorry. I will be doing my best to catch any mistakes before publishing chapters. If any of you readers see any mistakes or something that doesn't make sense please comment on it. I will be reading all comments, so if you got something to say feel free to let it all out!
As for updates, you'll most likely get an update every 2 weeks or so. School is in session and I'm a heavy procrastinator so that might not be totally accurate. But I actually enjoyed writing this fanfic. Now about hiatus and abandoning. If I ever go on a hiatus I will make a chapter telling you all. I've read many fanfics and I absolutely hate when authors just go ghost with no warning. I know it sucks. Moving on to abandoning. I will probably never abandon this book, again if I do I will make it clear through a chapter. I will also give you an ending, I feel that is the least I could do if I abandon this book.
Finally, ima hit you all with a question. What's your favorite movie and why? Kinda lame question but hey who cares? I'll answer this question and give you all another next chapter.
PEACE!
