"Oh my god." Hachee's jaw dropped when she saw the newspaper that the news coo dropped at the table and then quickly booked it in the other direction without waiting for payment, just like the other news coos did up and down the table.
Big Mom Family Secret Exposed!
Was one headline of the newspaper.
Alabasta saved by Straw Hat Pirates!
Was the second headline.
Straw Hats! Pirates by choice or environment?
Was the final headline and Hachee was gaping at the sight of the first one still.
Quickly reading the paper her eyes widened. Amande was speaking out? Telling the truth of how Big Mom had demanded that Amande give up her daughter, Galette, to be raised as another child of Mama's or have her daughter be killed. How Amande was actually Galette's mother due to a manipulative and downright abusive step dad of theirs when they were young who had been killed by Mama but not before Amande was pregnant.
Amande was defying her mother and loudly and proudly saying that she wasn't going to let her mother dictate her life and keep her away from her daughter anymore, especially not when (and Hachee could hardly believe this part) Amande herself was about to become a grandmother. Apparently Galette's husband, the rookie with the amazing first bounty for a pirate from the Blues, had gotten Galette pregnant and they only recently learned of the unborn child after Luffy had taken out Crocodile and one of his crewmembers who was a zoan noticed a difference in Galette's scent.
Looking up from the paper Hachee met Monder and Effiler's eyes and the three of them had a silent conversation before nodding. They would continue to support their missing quadruplet no matter what. And then as one they glanced at the rest of the sibling.
Oven's paper was beginning to burn in his hands as his Devil fruit acted up, glaring up at their mother furiously. Katakuri was like wise furious as was Perospero and both of them were darkly glaring at their mother. Diafuku was scowling at the paper and seemed more angry at the paper than at their mother, but then again he was such a mama's boy that they'd be surprised if he chose Amande and Galette over Big Mom.
Compote was shaking in fury as were a few of the younger siblings that remembered that step-father in particular.
Brulee was already pulling the small children into the mirror world while their mother was reading the newspaper that she had been given silently.
Looking at her mother, Hachee winced at the look of silent fury on her face before she nodded to the others. Time to get out of the room before their mother turned on them!
"So what's this about the Straw Hats being made by circumstances?" Effiler asked after they were all safely inside of Brulee's mirror world, the mirrors to the dining room shattering at their mothers ear splitting shriek for the second time in as many weeks.
"So that's why…why Galette was always a little more advanced than me." Piore said softly as she read the part in the paper where it was talking about how Galette had been taken and claimed to be the twin of a baby a month younger than her and how very few if anyone knew or suspected the truth.
"According to the newspaper the Straw Hats have all been abused for things outside of their control in different ways. The captain, Galette's husband? Was apparently 'trained' by his grandfather to be a marine and left with mountain bandits. The training repeatedly broke his bones and is considered inhumane, especially since he wasn't even seven at the time. The cook and his sister, the missing Vinsmoke princess, were apparently emotionally and mentally abused by their father in order to make them the perfect killers with no morals and no emotions but the cook was deemed a failure and beaten badly by everyone but his sister who helped him escape. Said sister apparently had enough of the mental and emotional abuse after being unable to save her other brothers and left to find her only other family." Compote said with a small frown as she glared at the paper that was still in her hands.
"Nothing is known about the swordsman…but the sniper was emotionally and mentally abused by almost everyone in his hometown because of his father being a pirate and how he had made up lies which were just stories he told to a sick girl to make her feel better. The navigator had her home island taken over by fishmen pirates and she saw her mother killed right in front of her, and then was abused greatly by the pirates for her skills in charting and navigation ever since she was little. Galette…well…" Compote trailed off and they all remembered how Big Mom had disliked Galette more than she did most of her daughters and now it made sense as to why. Because she was punishing the girl and Amande both for something Galette had no say in or control over.
"The doctor ate a zoan fruit and was deemed a monster by most of his home island aside from one or two people until only recently, the archaeologist was framed and attacked by the marines and world government and then had to isolate herself from everyone for her own safety at the age of eight while also fighting to survive and being forced to become a pirate at about that age." Brulee continued since she had been the one who had time to read the entire newpaper, before she had dropped them all in the mirror world at least.
"Yamato, Kaido's son? Apparently anytime he voiced being Kozuki Oden near his father he was badly beaten within an inch of his life by Kaido and also forced to wear explosive handcuffs on his wrists so that he'd be killed if he ever left the islands, after being tricked into eating a devil fruit. The musician of the crew, who they have to go and apparently pick up, has been emotionally and mentally abused in the Floridian Triangle for the last fifty years straight." All of the Charlottes winced at hearing that from Compote who was still reading through the article.
"Their helmsman is a fishman, First Son of the Sea Jimbei at that and he's been emotionally, mentally, and physically abused by humans all his life just because he's a fishman. The shipwright that they have to go and retrieve has also been emotionally and mentally neglected and abused for a while to the point where he made himself and his family into a bunch of thugs and delinquents in order to get people to actually notice them." Brulee said wincing at that as well and the siblings knew that feeling all too well. In order to be noticed amongst their army of siblings…
"In the article itself one of the Straw Hats said 'Battered Kids Club for the win'…and not a single one of them denied or disagreed with it." Compote said and then glanced at the rest of her siblings.
"Although it looks like we might be having plenty more nieces and nephews now. Amande said during the interview, and I'm quoting the paper directly here, 'Fuck it. All of you get your traumatic backstory selves over here for a hug. I'm adopting all of you and the rest of the world can deal with it. That means you too princess.' And at the end she's referring to Princess Vivi of Alabasta who hadn't denied the trauma or battered kids club claims." Compote said slightly amused at her sisters words.
"Looks like we shouldn't expect her and Galette back anytime soon…Brulee-chan do you mind taking us to Nuts Island. In her rage if Mama sees us…" Hachee asked her little sister who winced, as did the rest of her siblings, and nodded her head.
"Not a problem Hachee-nee-san. To think that she stole Amande-nee-san's daughter…" Brulee shook her head in the negative miserably.
"Oh wow our mother is a heartless bitch even to her own children? Imagine that. Big shocker." Effilers voice was completely flat as Brulee guided them through the mirror world.
"At least we are getting some interesting nieces and nephews…and I bet Galette's baby is going to be adorable- monder!" Mondee said and the rest of the siblings nodded their heads in agreement. Galette and Piore had been adorable babies, even if they weren't twins.
The oldest siblings were absolutely sure that Galette's children would be adorable little devils.
And if a few Charlottes felt their loyalty to their mother, however frail it already was, starting to falter and die? Well…
They weren't dumb enough to ever voice it.
