"GARP!" Sengoku was screaming at his best friend and most trusted subordinate and for once it wasn't because he had done something dumb. No this wasn't the scream of an annoyed long time friend. This was the scream of the Fleet Admiral who was pissed to high heaven with the other man.

The man who was sitting stone still and staring at a newspaper in disbelief and shock while Tsuru was reading her own copy and slowly shaking in fury. She was unusually silent, normally she was murmuring different tactics and scenarios under her breath when reading anything but right now she was dead silent. Like the waves and air was silent before a storm.

"Mind explaining this to me Garp?!" Sengoku demanded slamming his copy of the paper down and glaring furiously at the man, the claims alone of what Luffy said his grandfather had done to him were a major blow to the reputation of the Marines! And the worst part was that Sengoku was pretty sure that Luffy wasn't lying and that the paper wasn't embellishing it or exaggerating somehow!

After all he could believe that his old friend had done something like making his grandson fight trained fighting monkeys without giving the boy a single lick of training. And there had been plenty of eye witnesses from the island Luffy grew up on how the boy had been left with criminals by his grandfather. And how more than one of his training sessions had left Luffy, who wasn't older than two for the first one, with multiple broken bones and injuries that would have killed him if he didn't have an extra sturdy body.

"What. The fuck. Is wrong with you!?" Tsuru asked glaring darker than she had ever glared before as she finally spoke, staring at Garp and her fists clenched so hard that she was actually ripping her news paper and her nails were piercing into the palms of her hands.

"I was trying to make him into a strong marine!" Garp said in his defense and Tsuru reared back and slammed her fist into his nose hard enough to break it multiple times over. Just because she was an old woman and a strategist didn't mean she couldn't fight hand to hand. She was still a high ranking Marine sent after pirates often and did have to pass the physical requirements for her position after all.

Garp was grabbing his bloody nose, and Sengoku noted that it was broken which really said something with his durable body, and staring at Tsuru as if he had never seen her before with a rapidly paling face.

"You told me he was safe! You told me he was being taken care of by a nice woman who viewed him as a son and that you didn't want to draw too much attention to his island by us both visiting him. You promised me our grandson was safe and happy." Tsuru hissed at him at the end and Sengoku knew that he was watching the infamous Brains and Brawn Duo of the Marines suffer another fight. And he knew that this was one fight that they wouldn't reconcile after.

Garp and Sengoku were loud, Garp loud and brash and with all the tact of a rampaging awakened Zoan whereas Sengoku was loud and firm and was like a tornado slamming into you. They were loud with their anger and there was plenty of warning for others before they crossed the line with the two men.

Tsuru however was quiet. She was a soft murmur in the wind. A slight flicker of the flame. With her there was no warning. There was no way to know just how close to crossing her line you were until you had jumped clear over it and realized that the line was a marker. Tsuru was like the ocean.

It was ironic. Garp was the only one of their trio who wasn't 'hated by the ocean' by not having a Devil Fruit ability like they did. But he was like a Volcano going off when he was pushed too far. There was heat and fire and smoke and ash and known damage incoming along with deaths.

Sengoku was the hurricane, there were signs of his approaching rage. There was plenty of warnings and sirens blaring before it he made land fall and it was too late to get to the bunkers. His anger was just as fierce as Garps when he was set off but he tore things apart fast and furiously and then gave a brief moment of calm for the poor fools to decide whether they were going to be smart or face the other wall of the Storm. There was plenty of damage and destruction and deaths left in his wake when his rage passed and the winds calmed. But it was known what was going to happen. The damage and all was expected.

Tsuru however, despite being 'hated by the sea' for her devil fruit, was just like the sea. Most of the time she seemed tranquil and calm and fathomless…but it hid the darker side. The destruction a tsunami could bring. The wild animals within that could tear apart even giants. The crushing pressure that would drown any Devil Fruit user without fail once it got them in it's depths.

With her there was no warning. She was tranquil on the outside even as her inner thoughts were in turmoil. She was the deceptive clearness of the water that hid the monsters in the deep murky depths. When she was pushed too far then she was the sudden drop of the sea floor under your feet. She was the way the icy waters sapped your strength and life, the way that the rapids could tear you asunder, the monsters that were both known and not and able to kill any man. She was the water. She was the oceans and rivers and ponds and lakes. She was the Sea.

And when she was sufficiently pushed then, like the sea she so resembled, she could wipe out millions with nary but a thought. She could sink islands and drown helpless sailors. Bring entire ships and armies and kingdoms to their knees and then drag them kicking and screaming into the murky depths to watch them fight and struggle for air and try to survive the beasts that lurked within that were far too horrifying to be imagined.

Unlike Garp and Sengoku who's angers always left damage and casualties and were known in advance that it would happen. She was the surprise. Sure there were small signs waves retreating further than normal before a Tsunami, the sharks and sea kings that were known to all, the icebergs and underwater volcanos. There were small sings that all knew of but never really thought too much about until it was too late.

Garp and Sengoku gave plenty of warning before their rage was unleashed. Tsuru did not. She was the one who could hold things in for years and build up more and more reasons to tear you apart until finally she was ready and no one ever saw it coming.

They were known for their brutality and casualties and damages left behind, but she? She had a higher count all around than the both of them combined. A higher amount of damage able to be attributed to her, a higher body count for damn sure, and a much higher amount of patience which made her all the more dangerous.

Sure Sengoku and Garp were both natural disasters. Hurricanes and Volcanos killed hundreds if not thousands after all…but Tsuru? She was a force of nature that couldn't be denied or predicted like they could.

She was the Sea. The Sea could kill and did kill millions.

And now the Hurricane could only sit back and watch as the Sea released her righteous fury against the Volcano.

"YOU ABUSED OUR GRANDSON AND TOLD ME HE WAS SAFE!" And the Sea had definitely brought all of the creatures and dangers within to vent her rage. The Tsunami had reared back to show the full height of the wave.

"Tsuru I-"

"You fucked up. You will no longer see our grandson unless he should come and visit us himself." Tsuru's voice had lowered from her shout and Sengoku wondered what he had missed being said that had caused her to shout. He really needed to stop getting caught in his inner thoughts. Her voice was like ice now and Sengoku could only vaguely feel like he was standing before the legend of the deep he had heard once as a child. The legendary monster that hid within the depths of the ocean where even Fishmen could not tread and waited until his time to awaken.

Cthulu was standing in front of them, or perhaps she was Calypso instead, and his powers were geared up and his maw wide to swallow all within it's range.

"Where are you going?" Garp asked, still trying to stifle his bloody nose, as he stared after her in sorrow and rage and fear, as she walked towards the door with swift angry steps that felt like an underwater earthquake going off.

Peering back at the two taller and physically stronger men over one shoulder her eye nearly glowed blue as she opened the door to the office where the Admirals were standing looking stunned and unsure of what to do. Plenty of soldiers were coming or just hanging outside of the door, most armed. They had probably come running at hearing Tsuru shout. Sengoku didn't blame them.

He knew if he hadn't been in the room or aware of what her relationship to Straw Hat Luffy was then hearing her shout would alarm him. In fact because he knew her better than any Marine aside from Garp…hearing her shout at anyone would have him in his Golden Budda hybrid form and breaking down walls to either beat the hell out of someone or fire them. Probably both.

"I." Her voice was like ice and left no room for argument at all and Sengoku got the vaguest impression of that eldered god Cthulu about to snap his jaws shut or of Calypso the Sea Goddess herself about to sink an island for it's insolence and banish them to the deepest depths of the sea with a snap of her fingers.

"Am going to meet my grandson." Tsuru said and Garp proved that he had more muscles than brains as he spoke up.

"Tsuru he doesn't even know about you being his grandmother! He'll-"

"Whatever he does to me will be well deserved for thinking I could trust you to protect him. After all him being unaware of our relationship was done by you and my own desire for him to be safe. In doing so I had made a very grave mistake." Tsuru's mouth pulled up in a mimicry of a smile that was colder than Aokiji's ice and was more like a snarl than a smile. Sengoku knew he wasn't the only one who shivered, two of the admirals and the low-ranking marines did as well. Garp flinched backwards and he was shaking at her tone.

"I left him with the biggest monster of them all by trusting my husband." With that she stepped fully into the hall and the shutting of the door behind her, the first time she had slammed the door in a good many years, sounding like the bang of a judges gavel or like the final nail being slammed into the coffin.

"Garp…" Sengoku said tiredly and angry and honestly it wasn't even nine in the morning yet but he felt so exhausted. More exhausted than when he would have to spend many long nights or all nighters planning missions for multiple days in a row.

"What have you done?"

Because now there was a Pirate out there, a very strong one with an equally strong crew and apparently veterans of the New World and even a Warlord on his side. A strong pirate with powerful friends and crew and one hell of a grudge to grind with Marines rightfully.

A pirate who was nearly forced to become one to get away from abuse like the rest of his crew and who apparently had a brain because now…now he had the public on his side until he did something big and horrible and unable to be excused by trauma.

A crew of battered children who had just wanted somewhere to belong and had found it on the seas in each other and in a pirates life.

A crew that might not have happened if Garp hadn't abused his grandson, might not have happened if Tsuru had visited her grandson instead of being stonewalled by her own husband and kept busy trying to keep soldiers alive, might not have happened if Garp had just brought Luffy to be raised around Marines.

A crew that might not have happened if the world had just been kinder.
