CHAPTER 4 - QUARRELS, BETS AND OTHER MESSES
Goku was walking attentively through the corridors, as the teacher had sent him to look for Vegeta. Goku had seen him earlier in the day, but the boy was simply dissapeared. 'If I were Veg-Head, where would I be?' He thought as he carefully watched all the likely paths he could take.
After going to pretty much everywhere in the school, Goku's neurons finally worked. The only place that would be empty would be the terrace, so Vegeta would probably be there. The boy smiled, proud of himself for having come to that conclusion, and walked towards the terrace. When he got there, he was slowly approaching. He always preferred to treat everything that had to do with his flame-shaped hair friend with total calm (and look that Goku was already calm to the point of being irritating), because the last thing he wanted was to get in trouble with Vegeta.
"Veget…" he started to speak, but stopped when he heard a very familiar laugh. It was the laugh of a certain blue-haired girl. Goku got a little closer, to the point where he could see Bulma and Vegeta sitting side by side, talking. He looked at his friend's face and could see a glimmer of tranquility.
"He's not at school, ma'am. He must be gone," Goku communicated to the teacher after returning to their respective classrooms. Lying wasn't something he did very often, but this time it was worth it. He gave a slight smile as he sat down in his chair.
"Huh, I'm so tired," Chi Chi moaned and massaged her eyes. She stayed up late trying to decide which clubs at school to join and, after a mostly sleepless night, managed to decide two: cooking, a passion she'd had since childhood, and gardening. Well, she had no experience with gardening, but she loved to see the beauty and smell the flowers. These two clubs would be essential for Chi Chi.
"You worry too much about nonsense things," 18 rolled her eyes. Chi Chi went to her room twice during the night, and the blonde swore that if Chi Chi woke her a third time, she would kick her friend out in the ass. The problem was that Ox Princess couldn't just worry about something and be silent, she had to announce this 'something' to the 4 corners of the world.
"Yes, I do, but at least I've already decided my clubs. And, by any chance, have you already decided?" Chi Chi asked with an air of superiority, thinking that would leave the cold blonde speechless. Well, she was completely wrong.
"I made up my mind since the first day at this school," 18 shrugged. "I'll fight."
"I should have guessed," the brunette muttered as she locked her locker.
"It's all set, Bulma!" A boy with thick glasses smiled at the heiress. She just gave a small smile in response. Bulma had already warned her friends that since her first class of the day was math, she would be going early to sign up for the math and physics club. Honestly, she didn't even want to get into it that, but it was mandatory at this school to be in at least two of these special activities clubs. The least Bulma could do was take advantage of her genius and join an exacting club.
"Um, I didn't say you were a nerd," a deep voice startled her, making her jump.
"Vegeta, what a scare!" She screamed. "And, not that it's any of your business, but I'm joining this club because it's mandatory to pick two of these crap. I was thinking about joining the fight too..."
A genuine laugh filled the room. Bulma shivered as she felt Vegeta's laugh. There was something extremely satisfying about seeing him laugh.
The satisfaction passed when she realized he was laughing at her.
"Woman, I saw you fighting that day. You suck!" He stopped laughing, but continued with a smile of pure amusement on his face.
"I suck? You only think that because you and Goku are two freak fight brutes," Bulma said defensively. At that point, she was inches away from him, and she didn't care if there were other students in the room, they were probably more concerned with social media and taking selfies than watching a discussion. If looks could kill, Vegeta would already be stiff and cold on the ground.
"B?" Vegeta and Bulma's attention turned to the door. Yamcha was there, standing, analyzing the situation. After a moment, he ran towards his girlfriend and grabbed her arm protectively. "Stay away from her," he muttered menacingly. Yamcha didn't like this Vegeta Ouji guy at all because of all the stories he'd heard from him. The guy was a big problem.
"And who will make me?" Vegeta replied, his voice low and scary. Yamcha would never admit it out loud, but even though he was short, this guy scared the shit out of him. Her voice caught in her throat.
"Today, after school. Let's work this out," the flame hair said, as the other boy seemed to have gone suddenly silent. He took one last look at Bulma and sat down in one of the chairs at the back of the room.
"B, I don't want you to be near him," Yamcha looked into the girl's eyes.
"You're not the boss of me," Bulma snapped and went to sit away from her boyfriend. The boy just sat in one of the chairs, his brow furrowed in confusion at her sudden anger.
"I'm not talking to you," Bulma pouted and crossed her arms. Vegeta looked at her quizzically. 'She's crazy,' he thought. The Briefs girl literally brought him a tray of food without him even asking and was now, for some reason, mad at him?
"Hm," Vegeta muttered through his mouth full of mashed potatoes. Bulma took it as an indication that she should continue to talk, even though that hm meant exactly the opposite.
"Are you really going to fight Yamcha?" The blue-haired one looked at him seriously. "I don't mean to be rude, but you're going to lose. I saw you fighting Goku in gym class, but it doesn't come close to my boyfriend," she didn't understand why she was talking that way. 'Will he be jealous?' The thought came, but she dismissed it immediately. God, Bulma had known this guy for shortly and, by the way, she was dating Yamcha. YAMCHA.
Vegeta's frown deepened for a moment. So that guy who got into trouble with him earlier was Bulma's boyfriend. It made sense why he told him to stay away from her. But one thing didn't enter his mind: why was Bulma here with him when could be with her boyfriend?
"You said yourself earlier that me and Kakarot were 'freak fight brutes'."
"Yes, I did. But Yamcha you don't win," he said smugly.
"Ha! So watch the fight and then tell me what you think," he faked a laugh, making her narrow her eyes.
"I bet you!" Vegeta gave a crooked smile, which made the girl regret it instantly, but she couldn't go back. Fella, she was Bulma Fucking Briefs!
"What do I get out of it?" The smile continued on his slightly tanned face.
"The satisfaction of being right," Bulma mimicked his smile. "But that doesn't matter since I'm going to win this bet!"
The boy squeezed her hand to confirm he was inside and just continued to eat, his mind clouded with thoughts. He wanted so badly to see the Briefs girl's face when her wimpy little boyfriend took a beating. Bulma was smart, Vegeta had to admit, but at the same time she was dumb enough to make such a bet.
garden club
'So beautiful', Chi Chi thought as he watered a beautiful apple tree.
This school invested a lot in gardening and planting, and the girl really admired it.
"Chi!" She heard someone calling her and immediately recognized that it was Goku. Chi Chi could be dreamy and emotional most of the time, but this boy was bubbly in the extreme. "I can't believe you joined this group! Did you know I planted this tree?"
"Serious?" The brunette looked at him curiously.
"Yes. I love plants! The squad makes fun of me for that, but I don't care," he smiled, scratching the back of his neck.
Chi Chi smiled slightly at how innocent he looked.
"I don't have much experience, but when I was younger I used to watch my mom tending her rose bushes," a sad look crossed her face and Goku quickly understood and gave her friend a tight hug, which she didn't expect. She smiled slightly with that gesture.
"Ooh, don't be a coward!" A really crazy girl screamed for her poor boyfriend.
"But, B…" he whimpered. "I don't want to fight that guy!" Yamcha needed
swallow what little pride he had to say it
"Oh please. You won't be beaten," Bulma took a deep breath. "Besides, I already bet your victory with Vegeta, I can't go back."
"Since when are you close with that guy?" He narrowed his eyes. "And why did you go betting with MY name?"
"Um... we study together. Of course I talk to him sometimes," from Yamcha's reaction earlier and now, it was clear he wouldn't like to know that Bulma was seeing Vegeta. Not that she was doing anything wrong, no. She just didn't want to argue with him.
"Okay, do what you think is best... if you think you can't, you better not fight," she said this from the bottom of her heart. Honestly, she didn't even know why she'd made that ridiculous bet. Yamcha was
Okay, it wasn't good for him to get into trouble, though she still thought her boyfriend was stronger than Vegeta.
"Thanks babe," the boy smiled and gave the girl a quick kiss on the lips.
'You're welcome, I'll just have to put up with Vegeta bragging now,' h
Bulma thought, watching the teacher enter the room.
a while later...
"Bud, you are DEAD", Krillin made a sad face, causing Yamcha to give him a "what?" look.
"Your fight with Ouji, eh," the bald man explained. He is the fight club co-captain. The only one who can beat him is Goku."
Yamcha looked at the boy beside him who had a wide, empty smile plastered on his face.
"After all, how did you find out about this?"
"The whole school knows," Tien muttered, his arms crossed. He hated that kind of fight, with no rules or respect for the opponent. he also hates the Ouji's guy, another reason he's so upset.
The four boys saw 18, Chi Chi, Bulma and Launch, approaching, elated.
"There's a crowd gathered out there," Chi Chi said between deep breathes, still catching his breath from running to warn the boys.
"They're waiting for you," 18 looked at Yamcha with her icy blue eyes.
"Bulma, did you spread it?!" Yamcha looked desperately at his girlfriend.
"I did nothing!" Bulma returned the look. "The most I did was bet you would win, but if you don't want it, I don't want it either," she laid her head on the boy's shoulder.
"A B has gone crazy," they heard a shrill laugh from 18. "It feels like she've been in a cave for the last few days and haven't even heard the rumors about Ouji"
"Haha, really funny," Bulma said wryly.
"Dammit, 18 is right," Goku said nervously, finally realizing the gravity of the thing. "It's not a good idea for Yamcha to fight Vegeta..."
"I'm not going there at all!" Yamcha said, giving the second desperate look.
"Let's just ignore it then," suggested Tien. "Good," Launch nodded.
The group headed towards the exit.
"Look", a random boy pointed at the scarred guy as he took a step out of the school, and a screaming started right away.
Vegeta looked at the guy. Well, at least he had come. Accompanied with all his ridiculous little group. On her side, holding her hand, was the Briefs girl. Seriously, why was such a smart and decent girl with such a weakling? At least he would prove to her how stupid her boyfriend was. Not that Vegeta cares, of course.
The shouting only got louder when the group just walked straight through the crowd.
"Huh, coward," Vegeta sneered, loudly enough for Yamcha to hear.
He stopped immediately, clenching his fist. It was as if he completely forgot everything he had said about not wanting to get in trouble with Vegeta. He wouldn't let anyone call him a coward and do nothing, no matter who it was.
Yamcha approached as calmly as he could, everyone silent, including the squad.
"What is he doing?" Chi Chi whispered to 18, who just shrugged.
Bulma simply smiled. Now Vegeta would learn to stop getting into trouble with others.
"What did you say?" He asked in a low, menacing tone. That short one couldn't be as strong as they said, right?
Vegeta just gave the clown in front of him an amused smile and made a "just come" gesture.
The taller one couldn't take it and punched his opponent in the face and smiled when he realized he had drawn some blood.
Ouji wiped the little blood that had trickled out of his mouth and began to giggle darkly, causing Yamcha's smile to fade.
"You call it a punch?" It was a rhetorical question, as the other boy didn't even have time to answer. Vegeta jumped on top of him, punching him madly. Yamcha couldn't react even once.
"I'll go there," Goku said seriously. He was the only student who would be able to separate those two. A hand held him.
"Leave it to me," he saw Professor Piccolo beside him, watching the fight.
Piccolo walked over and pulled Vegeta by the collar of his shirt, causing all the students to fall silent. Bulma ran up to Yamcha, who was on the ground.
"All of you leave, class is over," the teacher announced and the crowd began to dissipate.
''I'll wait," Chi Chi crossed her arms in a tantrum, but Krillin pulled her by the arm.
"Mr. Piccolo is right, we're only going to make things worse if we're here," everyone agreed with the bald man, except for a certain heiress.
"Go ahead, I'll stay here with Yamcha," she said worriedly.
"You two, to director's now," he muttered wearily. Vegeta hitting someone was nothing new.
"This is unfair!" Bulma yelled "only vegeta should go! look at the situation of Yamcha!"
"You hadn't bet your weak boyfriend would win, eh?" the flame narrowed its eyes.
"Good to know. You three, to director's," Piccolo shrugged. "I think I better take him to the infirmary first," he said to Bulma, looking at the boy who was getting up with difficulty.
"For God's sake, what happened?" Tights widened his eyes as he saw his sister and boyfriend walk through the door. Yamcha had a bruised face and Bulma had a look on her face that would make any sensible person run in fear. The blue haired one just marched towards her room, pissed off.
Tights looked to Yamcha for an explanation.
"A boy at school... hit me," the boy said with a little embarrassment. The blonde just gestured for him to leave and go take a shower, which he promptly complied with.
"I think this boy has finally met Vegeta", Raditz chuckled wickedly, sitting in the living room.
"Do you think it was Vegeta who hit him?" Tights asked with a sigh.
"Who else but Goku could beat your sister's boyfriend?"
"Good point," the blonde massaged the tip of her nose.
"Bulma!" Chi Chi yelled as she saw her friend walk down the hall. She, 18 and Goku were gathered in the boy's room, talking about what had happened and waiting for their friends to arrive.
"And then...?" Goku asked anxiously as he watched Bulma take a deep breath and sit up in bed.
"The principal gave detention... for the three of us. Vegeta ratted me out about the silly bet I had made that Yamcha would beat him in a fight."
"How rude!" Chi Chi yelled.
"If it were me, I'd spank this bucko off," 18 commented.
"Poor Vegeta...", Goku said, feeling sorry for his friend. He shouldn't have gotten into a fight, but asking Vegeta to stay out of trouble is like asking Jimi Hendrix to stop playing guitar. Goku didn't feel sorry for him serving detention, no. He deserved it. But it was because I knew he was going through difficult things and, besides, he had a little brother to take care of.
"Of?" Bulma said with remarkable annoyance. "Did you see what he did to Yamcha?! How can you still feel sorry for him?"
"Well, as far as I know, YOU were the one who put fuel to the fire with that mindless bet," Goku started yelling, making everyone in the room get scared. Anger was not a feeling the boy often displayed. "Kami, I thought you two were getting along well, why is that now?! I know Vegeta is difficult and does a lot of bad things, but does anyone notice how bad he is or the mess he lives in?" He bit his cheek as he realized he had said too much. He got up and muttered a "sorry" and left his room. All this stress left him upset and hungry.
I'm so sorry for the delay, I was so busy with school and courses! But here is the new chapter, please review.
Peace, love, empathy, K.
