The Court of Appeals of Maryland Annapolis Maryland

Today on a nice quiet Monday there is a court case of Humanity vs. MAD as MAD is now on trial for serious War Crimes and they are in so much trouble with the law. Since the Covenant had committed many crimes in the State of Maryland the court case will be happening in Annapolis Maryland. Weeks ago during the raid on MAD HQ Sanford Scolex was officially put down for good with a Lethal Injection ending his life. Marilyn and Gordon Scolex along with Congress, the President and the SecNav all agreed that it is time for Sanford to be put down for good.

Captain John Keyes, 17 year old Midshipman 4th Class Midshipman Penny Keyes, Special Agent Brain, Chief Quimby, and of a couple Annapolis Police Officers are all in the Courtroom; Quimby and the Police Officers are wearing their Law Enforcement Uniform. John, Midshipman Keyes and Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster are wearing their Navy Summer Dress Uniforms. Sanford Scolex's parents Gordon and Marilyn, his twin brother Dr. Thaw, his younger brother Tommy and all members of MAD are in the Courtroom. Since Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster was undercover there are no charges against him.

Captain Kaitlin Pike from the United States Naval Judge Advocate General Corps is in the court room in Uniform, as a Judge Advocate she will be helping and presenting John during the court case. It also turns out that Commander Meg Austin from the United States Naval Judge Advocate General Corps is in the Court Room; she will be helping and presenting Midshipman Penny Keyes.

There news crew inside the Court Room and this case will be live for people to watch so they can learn about the verdict. Before coming into court all the members of MAD were successfully turned back into their original human form. Nobody wants to be get spooked by a bunch of aliens out in public, so it was best for Scolex's minions to go back into their original human forms.

Midshipman Penny Keyes is now fully recovered from her injuries she suffered from when taking down MAD and she was able to go back to her studies. The burns are first degree burns that will heal and the lacerations were treated with stitches and the bruises are shown all over her body.

With the Court Case going on the Jury looked at all the evidence and sadly they realized that they need Midshipman Keyes to testify in Court. It actually turns out Midshipman Keyes is a witness in this case and indeed she was a victim of MAD's violent crimes. Apparently Midshipman Keyes has been subpoena to Court rather being summoned and Commander Austin is investigating why someone would subpoena Midshipman Keyes rather than summoned her; she has been excused by the Naval Academy Brigade Commander and the JAG Corps assigned a Judge Advocate to help Midshipman Keyes. Even though Midshipman Keyes is in the Courtroom she really doesn't want to be in the Courtroom and wanting to stay away from her captures.

The Bailiff walks up to the front of the court room ready to do his task.

"Please rise for the Honorable Robert M. Bell." The Bailiff says.

Everyone in the court room rises while the Maryland Supreme Court Justice the Honorable Robert M. Bell comes up to the Judge's Bench.

"You can sit down now; today's case is Humanity vs. The Covenant. The late Sanford Scolex and MAD have violated human rights by committing war crimes and had put a lot of people's lives in danger. They are also charged with two counts of kidnapping, and two counts of false imprisonment. Captain Pike you may call your first witness." Judge Robert M. Bell says.

"I call Harold Slick to the stand." Captain Kaitlin Pike says.

Harold Slick comes up to the stand, the Court Bailiff swore him in and he sits down in the witness seat.

"Can you please the court your name and position." Captain Kaitlin Pike says.

"I'm Harold Slick and I am member of the Covenant." Leonard O'Brien replied.

"Mr. Slick can you please tell the Court how you became involved?" Captain Kaitlin Pike asks.

"I became involved when Sanford Scolex ordered the members of the Covenant to kidnap SECNAV Jarvis and Midshipman Penny Keyes, I sedated her and we took her to the Covenant Headquarters located in the United States Virgin Islands. We had the both of them captive for a couple of days. He wanted us to interrogate SECNAV Jarvis and Midshipman Keyes; and all the members of MAD decided to use Midshipman Keyes as our new insurance policy. Unfortunately for us both SecNav Jarvis and Midshipman Keyes escaped before we could interrogate them." Harold Slick says.

"Mr. Slick how long you have been with MAD?" Captain Kaitlin Pike asks.

"I had been with MAD since October 2001. Before being joining I was working at the Marriott World Trade Center in New York City; and I lost my job when the Hotel was destroyed on 9/11." Harold Slick says.

"Did you always follow your boss' orders and commit the crimes on his behalf?" Captain Kaitlin Pike asks.

"Yes I always followed Sanford Scolex's orders when we did all the crimes waves for eight years. He would tell us to eliminate Captain John Keyes every time and Sanford Scolex would always try to kill Captain Keyes. Back in 2001 Sanford Scolex launched a bio hazard over to Iraq." Harold Slick replied.

Everyone in the Courtroom is shocked by what they just heard and now it looks like John realized that Sanford Scolex was trying to kill him, Midshipman Keyes is really upset and distraught from what she just heard and she has a look on her face like if she has seen a ghost.

"Mr. Slick you just confessed to attempted murder, kidnapping the Secretary of the Navy and a United States Naval Academy Midshipman, knocking them out with a sedative, and holding innocent people as prisoner against their well. And you also told us about how you joined MAD. (She takes out photos from her brief case as it is evidence.) A needle that you used to sedate Midshipman Keyes was found in a trashcan in Bancroft Hall; NCIS found your fingerprints at the crime scene and on that needle. The test came back 100 percent. No further questions." Captain Kaitlin Pike says.

"You may step down now Mr. Slick." Judge Robert M. Bell replied.

Harold Slick gets up and returns to his seat and then Devon Lieberman calls his witness.

"The Court calls Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster to the stand." Devon Liberman said.

Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster gets up from his seat and walks over towards the Witness Stand. The Bailiff swears in Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster and then he sits down. Now the minions learn that all this time it was Master Chief Petty Officer Webster who was the informant who was sending messages and they didn't knew.

"Can you please state your name, rank and position the Navy for the Court?" Devon Lieberman says.

"I'm Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster and I am a Naval Corpsman." Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster replied.

"Can you tell the court about what was going when you were undercover?" Devon Lieberman asks.

"When I was working undercover my job was to send Intel to the Annapolis Police Department and to the Office of Naval Intelligence so they could know what Sanford Scolex was up to, he managed to get his hands on highly classified data and with that data he made his plans for committing crimes. While I was undercover I also took care of the prisoners MAD held capture and I care about the well beings of the prisoners. I wasn't too happy when I learned that MAD kidnapped SecNav Jarvis, and Midshipman Miranda Keyes. The way MAD treated SecNav Jarvis and Midshipman Keyes was despicable as they neglect them by just keeping them inside the cells and didn't give them the care they need. They didn't even care to stop and think about how SecNav Jarvis and Midshipman Keyes feel. I made sure that both of them are given food, clean clothes, medical care and dental care along with clean water and access to plumbing. When I was taking care of Midshipman Keyes I could see cuts, lacerations, scrapes, burns and bruises all over her arms, hands, fingers, forehead, cheeks, on her lower back, and legs, and I started to suspect that the members of MAD were physically abusing and neglecting her. I treated her wounds with stitches as they were deep. There is evidence that proof that showed the way Midshipman Keyes was being treated." Master Chief Petty Officer Alan Webster replied.

"You can step down from the Witness Stand Master Chief Webster and thank you for giving us the details." Judge Robert M. Bell says.

Master Chief Petty Officer Webster leaves the witness stand and he sits down next to Special Agent Brain. The Bailiff turns on the TV and presses the play button. Now everyone in the courtroom is watching the evidence that was recorded. The first part of the footage shows Donnie Hughes hitting Midshipman Keyes with a crow bar repeatedly everywhere, the second part of the footage shows Slick cutting her arms and legs with paperclips and glass. Then the third part of the footage shows Midshipman Keyes tied in chains while Lenny is beating Keyes with a ping pong paddle and burning her skin with a lighter.

The footage ends and everyone knows exactly what when on at MAD HQ. A lot of people inside the courtroom are complete horrified and enraged by what they see from the footage. It turns out that all of them knew that Master Chief Petty Officer Webster is telling the truth and the members of MAD haven't told the truth about how they treated their prisoners. John, Brain, Chief Quimby and even Commander Meg Austin aren't too happy that they learned that Midshipman Keyes was being mistreated and being abused while being held. Sanford's family is shocked and angered by what they saw and they do feel terrible for what happened to Midshipman Keyes. What had happen is what Midshipman Keyes doesn't want to admit or talk about.

"The Court calls Midshipman Penny Keyes to the stand." Mr. Lieberman says.

Suddenly out of nowhere Donnie Hughes stands up from his seat, he objects as he is not too happy.

"Objection, Keyes is not old enough to be on the witness stand; she's just a pipsqueak." Donnie Hughes says.

"Objection overruled, Mr. Hughes you're out of line and you and you will show Midshipman Keyes the proper respect. Midshipman Keyes is old enough to be inside a Court Room and I want to hear what she has to say." Judge Robert M. Bell replies.

Midshipman Penny Keyes gets up from where she is sitting and she walks straight over to the Witness Stand with a poker face trying to not show her emotions. The Bailiff swears Midshipman Keyes in and she sits down in the witness stand.

"Can you please state your rank and position for the Court?" Mr. Lieberman asks.

"I am a Midshipman 4th Class at the United States Naval Academy." Midshipman Penny Keyes replies.

"Midshipman Keyes can you please tell the court exactly what had happened in your own words?" Mr. Lieberman asks.

"I was in my dorm room inside Bancroft Hall sleeping at night; all of a sudden one of the MAD Agents came through the window in a hasty manner like if they were trying to prank someone. The next thing I remembered is when I woke up in a cell and I didn't know I was knocked out. Once I woke up I found myself inside a locked cell and then I realized I was being held captive. I had tried multiple times to escape from the compound, and they always managed to capture me and then put me back in the cell. While I was being held captive they attacked me by beating me with a crow bar, cutting me with paper clips and glass and a small paddle and burning me with a lighter.. Growing up I didn't trust Sanford Scolex and his henchmen's; and I really didn't understand why they would try to attempt to kill my Uncle John over the years. When I was attending a Memorial Service over at the Pentagon I realized why Sanford Scolex has been committing so many crimes he has been seeking revenge for his sister's death. His grief turned into anger and Sanford Scolex was expressing his feelings by committing a lot of crime. Scolex was feeling hurt, heartbroken, confused, angry and lonely." Midshipman Miranda Keyes replies.

It looks like the cat is out of the bag and now everyone in the courtroom has learned about Sanford Scolex's motives for committing so many crimes. Tommy Harris stands up and he has something to say to the Judge.

"Your Honor what Midshipman Keyes just said is true and we have footage of Sanford Scolex confessing. With the Court's Permission we would like to play the footage to show." Tommy Harris says.

"Mr. Harris you have the Court's permission to show the footage of Sanford Scolex confessing." Judge Robert M. Bell replies.

The Bailiff presses the play button after turning the TV on.

(September 11th 2008
Both 16 year old Miranda and Sanford Scolex are sitting on a comfortable couch in front of the cameras. And the cameras are pointing in their direction at different angles.

"Penny I know how difficult it is to lose someone on 9/11 and the death of your mom and dad must been very difficult for you. I lost my sister Kaylee at the Pentagon on 9/11; she was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy." Sanford Scolex says.

Scolex takes out a picture and then he shows Miranda a picture of Kaylee when she graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1989. Miranda takes her time looking at the picture and she can see a sweet smile on Kaylee's face.

"Kaylee was a sweet and caring person; she had a bubbly and funky personality. When I learned that Kaylee died on 9/11 I was heartbroken, and shocked." Sanford Scolex says.

"You have my sympathies Sanford Scolex and I'm sorry for your lost. (She shows Sanford Scolex a family photo that shows Miranda along with her mom, dad, her brothers Cadmon and Jason, this picture was taken when Cadmon graduated from Boot camp. Andre, Andrea and Cadmon are dressed in their Uniforms) I was very proud of mom and dad as they were serving in the Navy, and it is not the same without them." Miranda replies.

As Sanford Scolex is looking at the family photo he can see that Miranda really looks a lot like her dad Andre. He even notices in the pictures that Miranda has two brothers.

"I can really see the resemblance and you really do look a lot like your dad Andre. What are the names of your brothers?" Sanford Scolex asks.

"My brother's names are Cadmon and Jason. Cadmon was killed in the USS Cole Attack nine years ago and he was a Seamen Apprentice. Jason ran away from home on September 12th 2001 and he was 12 years old at that time. I haven't seen or heard from Jason since he ran away; he abandoned me and wants nothing to do with me. If its okay with you I would like to share my 9/11 story with you." Penny says.

"Yes of course you can your share your 9/11 story with me." Sanford Scolex replied.

"When September 11th 2001 happened I was nine years old and about to turn 10 that October. I was at school that morning when I heard American Airlines Flight 77 descending at a low altitude very quickly and the elementary school I was attending was a couple of blocks from the Pentagon; after I heard the sound of jet engines I looked out the window and I saw American Airlines Flight 77 crash into the west side of the Pentagon. I felt the impact and it felt like a bomb went off. To me 9/11 is a day of feeling of being scared, upset, shocked, and confused. The last time I ever saw my mom and dad was earlier that morning before heading off to school. My mom and dad's death was really hard on me and it felt like my entire world was flipped upside down. I think I know you have been committing many crimes over the years; you want to get revenge for your sister's death. Your grief had turned into anger and when you commit crimes you are showing others how you really feel." Penny says.

"Penny your right I have been seeking revenge for Kaylee's death and that is why I have been committing many crimes for seven years. And you're also right about the fact that my grief turned into anger." Sanford Scolex replies.

The video stops and then everyone in the courtroom finally learned that Sanford Scolex really did confess to why he was committing so many crimes for the past eight years while getting away with it and how Midshipman Keyes found a way to get him to confess. John, Brain and Chief Quimby just realize that Midshipman Penny Keyes showed Sanford Scolex what it means to be human and that she is the unsung hero who serves and protect Annapolis Maryland with a noble cause. Both Gordon and Marilyn now have the answers to why their son Sanford was committing so many crimes and it was Midshipman Penny Keyes who gave them the answer since no one else did. Dr. Thaw expresses his deepest sympathy to Midshipman Keyes, his wife Colette was killed in the USS Cole Bombing and William had a hard time dealing with the death of his mom Colette.

This is also the first time everyone in the Court Room listened to Penny's 9/11 Story, the story of what happen to her brothers, and never knowing that she witness seeing American 77 crash into the Pentagon. The main reason why Midshipman Penny Keyes hardly talks about her 9/11 experience or about her brother Cadmon's death is the due to the fact that she was deeply traumatized and emotionally scarred by what happen in the past.

"Your honor the Jury has agreed that this footage is crucial evidence and now we have learned the reason for Sanford Scolex committed those crimes and how Midshipman Keyes was able to get him to confess." Walter Jansen says.

"Midshipman Keyes you can step down now, you are officially excused from the Court Room and you can go return back the Naval Academy at this time." Judge Robert M. Bell says.

Midshipman Penny Keyes gets up from the Witness Stand and she leaves the building as she is being escorted by a Security Guard. Once she steps outside of the building Midshipman Keyes gets into a service car to take her back to the Naval Academy.

After a short recess Court is back in session.

"Before we announce the finding is there anything anyone would like to say?" Judge Robert M. Bell asks.

Sanford Scolex's parents Gordon and Marilyn Scolex stand up as they have something to say. Mr. and Mrs. Scolex officially decided to transfer all of their son's money to John and Penny's Saving Accounts.

"Your honor as George's parents we officially decided to put all George's money to Midshipman Keyes' Savings Account, and all of that is from his college fund. The total amount is $66,240,100, and that money will help give her a head start. And we like to transfer George's money from his Savings Account to Captain John Keyes' Savings Account as the amount is $66,240, 100. We will like to transfer all the money today." Gordon Scolex says.

"That is a generous offer you made today Mr. and Mrs. Scolex and consider it done. Today all of the money from Sanford Scolex's account and college fund will be transferred to Captain Keyes' and Midshipman Keyes' account. We are now about to announce the finding and sentence. (The Bailiff hands the Judge the paper) Sanford Scolex and all members of the Covenant with the charges of international war crimes and kidnapping are guilty. All members of the Covenant will be sentence to life without parole or probation. This court case is now closed and dismissed." Judge Robert M. Bell says as he bangs the gavel.
