Chapter 6

Back home

Cynthia decided to meet the Unova Gym Leader Elesa as the latter had plans to arrive at Sinnoh anyway for a fashion conference.

The room where both of them met was well-lit, with many lights on the inside. A few windows also let in some sunlight. The afternoon was not fully expired, but it was giving way to the evening. The small clock on a table read 4:45 PM. The table itself had a light gray color, and the chair nearest to it had a black back and a small red cushion. Still, Cynthia did not find it very comfortable. She took out a black laptop and continued her findings on the various myths and legends of the various regions, writing down and summarizing her findings.

Her phone rang. Very few people knew her phone number because she did not want her phone to constantly annoy her. Of the people who knew, all would keep it a secret: The Sinnoh Elite Four, Steven Stone (The Hoenn Champion), Tobias, Elesa, and Caitlin. They swore not to tell anyone else, and so far this had held up.

Elesa walked into the room with a grace and poise matched by few. She had bright blonde hair, and she wore a bright red dress. She also had an elaborate set of headphones and an orange visor. She smiled at Cynthia, and then spoke.

"Hello Cynthia. I'm here to talk with you in person because I wanted to see you again. It's been so long!"

"Thank you, Elesa. How are you doing?"

"I am doing great! Thank you. I just arrived here from a photoshoot. The people there were supportive and I showed off some amazing looks. I saw the footage of the Bittercold conflict. Congratulations on stopping it so easily."

"Thank you, Elesa. I'm glad to hear you are doing well. How goes Unova? Is there some larger crisis that warrants my attention?"

"Nothing really since the Bittercold incident. The Shadow Triad was supposedly spotted once, but without Team Plasma they are not a threat. Iris is doing a pretty good job as Unova's Champion. There have been rumors about some 'Dark Matter' creature, upon which the Bittercold originated from, but without further substantiation these seem like empty rumors."

The room temperature seemed to drop slightly.

"I deal in myths and legends. They often have some basis in history or reality, admittedly filtered through artistic license. Tell me what you know about the 'Dark Matter'."

Elesa seemed caught off-guard slightly, but she regained her composure.

"Supposedly, the Shadow Triad stole a piece of one of the smaller creatures associated with the Bittercold. They were talking about some 'Dark Matter' it was connected to. Raving for some reason, then leaving before any authorities could catch them."

"While supposedly is the key word, the Shadow Triad need to be apprehended before they can cause any more problems."

"Cynthia, are there any interesting events that happened in Sinnoh or concerning you lately?"

"I completed more research on the Legendaries Dialga and Palkia. Professor Rowan was very helpful, as was a certain living shadow. I also learned much more about the Alamos Town incident and the capabilities of the Mythical Darkrai."

"Thank you. That living shadow… the man with six Legendaries and Mythicals. How can one person have such skill at obtaining Legendaries and Mythicals?"

Cynthia did not want to tell Elesa about Tobias being the manifestation of Darkrai.

"He once explained to me, I would say I have an affinity for Legendaries and Mythicals. Darkrai are distrusted due to nightmare powers they had difficulty controlling. All I needed to do was to get one to trust me. With my skills, I could catch one even though Darkrai is famously very reclusive. I would say I was the right person at the right place at the right time. After catching Darkrai, I realized I wanted a team of legendaries and mythicals to reach the pinnacle of mastery; I would use that mastery to prevent any such villains from hurting any more innocent people."

It seems like he is a nice person. Thank you, Cynthia.
