"I'm taking him now!" Anakin Skywalker ran towards Count Dooku as Obi-wan Kenobi called after him. Dooku unleashed his Force Lightning to stun Anakin and throw him into a wall. He then called Anakin over to him with the Force. He drooped Anakin in front of him and pointed his lightsaber at him.

"Anakin!" Obi-wan yelled. "Let him go, Dooku."

"Why should I?" The count asked. "My Master seems to have a special interest in young Skywalker. In fact he ordered me to capture him."

Anakin groaned in pain. Two super battle droids walked in, grabbed Anakin's arms and pulled him up.

"Take him to a shuttle. And have the shuttle sent to my palace on Serenno," Dooku ordered the droids.

Obi-wan grimaced. Anakin was in trouble. If he attacked Dooku now Anakin could get hurt or even killed. What would Qui-Gon do? Qui-Gon. Dooku's former padawan. He had an idea. Dooku had asked him to join him earlier, maybe…

"Wait!" Obi-wan yelled. "Take me instead!"

Dooku paused for a moment. "You wish to take Skywalker's place?"

"Yes."

"Hmm…" Dooku thought for a moment. "My master may not approve but… very well. Let Skywalker go." Dooku ordered. The droids let go of Anakin's arms.

"Master please." Anakin pleaded. "You wouldn't let me get Padme, so why…I don't understand."

"I am your master," Obi-wan said. "It is my job to protect you." Obi-wan noticed Master Yoda enter.

Dooku also noticed. "It is too late Master Yoda," Dooku told his former master. "Kenobi has already made his choice." The super battle droids moved behind Obi-wan. Obi-wan felt them roughly grabbing his arms.

"Master Yoda, please get Anakin out of here." Obi-wan asked.

Yoda's ears drooped. "Very well." He turned to Anakin. "Come young Skywalker, or in vain your master's sacrifice will be."

"I won't leave him!" Anakin protested.

Senator Amidala and a few clones entered. They raised their blasters. "What's going on?" Amidala ordered.

"Please watch over Anakin for me," Obi-wan asked the Senator.

"What?!" She was obviously lost.

"Kenobi has offered himself as my prisoner in exchange for his Padawan," Dooku explained. "Now I suggest you get him out of here before I change my mind."

Obi-wan could see tears forming in the senator's eyes. "But-I- Grab Padawan Skywalker," She ordered the clones as the tears began to fall.

"NO!" Anakin cried.

"Anakin please," Obi-wan pleaded. He hoped Anakin would listen to him, for once in his life.

"I'll find you someday and I will save you!" Anakin swore. Two clone troopers grabbed his shoulders to lead him out.

Obi-wan watched as Anakin was taken away. Still stubbornly struggling as he watched the clones take Anakin away. He felt a tear fall. Odd. The last time that happened… was when he lost Qui-Gon. Could history be repeating itself? Will Anakin avenge him as he avenged Qui-Gon? Obi-wan shook his head. Vengeance was not the Jedi way. Not that it stopped him, and he highly doubts that'll stop Anakin. Besides, for some reason he doesn't think Dooku will kill him. Maybe Anakin will rescue him... again.

"Come now Kenobi," Dooku said. "Your new home awaits."

Padme sighed. Anakin hadn't said a word since they got on the shuttle. Master Yoda was also rather quiet. "I'm sure Obi-wan knew what he was doing." She said hoping to break the silence.

"If only I had listened to him and not charged Dooku…" Anakin said.

"It's not your fault, Ani," Padme said.

"But it is!" Anakin almost yelled. "If only I had been stronger… If only I had just listened to him… If only I had just waited, for once in my life!"

"A valuable lesson this is," Master Yoda said.

Anakin sighed… tears began to fall. "I just wish it didn't cost Obi-wan his life. What's going to happen to me now?"

"You will be a Jedi. I promise."

"Decide your fate the council will later. For now rest you need," Yoda said. He turned to the senator. "Watch over him you must. Forbidden attachments are, but all Skywalker has left you are."

"I understand," Padme said.

Courusant a few days later

"So we have lost Knight Kenobi to Dooku," Jedi Master Mace Windu said.

Master Yoda nodded.

"We should grant Padawan Skywalker a leave of absence, as we always do when a Padawan loses a master," Master Plo Koon said.

The rest of the Jedi Council agreed.

"Then it is settled," Master Windu said. He looked at Skywalker. "We grant you two weeks to recover from your loss."

Anakin bowed. "Thank you masters. But, what about when I return?"

Master Windu stroked his chin. "While your master had said you weren't ready for the trials, I feel we should let you take them anyway. If you fail then we reassign you to a new master. But if you pass then you will be a Jedi Knight," Master Windu said. Most of the council agreed. This wasn't the first time something like this has happened, and they sadly doubt it will be the last.

Anakin bowed again, "Alright. I understand. Thank you."

Senator's Amidala's apartment

"Padme!" Anakin yelled as he jumped out of his ship. "The council has given me two weeks off! After that I get to take my Jedi trials!" He hadn't felt this happy in days. In fact he hasn't felt any happiness in days.

"That's wonderful!" She smiled.

"I was thinking, maybe we could…" He felt her lips on his. He returned her kiss with his own.

"I love you Ani. I-I want to be with you forever." She said.

"So do I." Anakin said. "No one will have to know."

She took a step back. "So is being given a chance to do your trials after losing a master, new?"

Anakin shook his head. "No. Many padawans have been given this chance if they are deemed old enough. Just look at Obi-wa-" Tears began to fall.

He felt Padme pull him close. "I miss him too."

"What do you think Dooku's doing to him?" Anakin asked.

"I-I don't know," Padme conceded. "But don't worry. I know one day you will rescue him."

Chancellor's office

"So you had Skywalker, but let him go in favor of Kenobi?" Darth Sideous asked his apprentice. He felt like destroying the comlink. Or even his apprentice.

"Yes my master," Darth Tyranus replied.

"I wanted Skywalker! Not Kenobi!" Sideous snarled. "Your attachment to Kenobi has clouded your judgment!" How could Dooku mess this up? He gave him perfectly clear instructions to capture Skywalker, not Kenobi. The one who slayed Maul. The who had raised Skywalker. Sideous smiled.

"Master I believe we can use Kenobi to more easily turn Skywalker. He is the closest thing Skywalker had to a father or brother," The count suggested.

"Yes…" Kenobi has proven to be quite capable. The boy's attachment to him could prove useful. Besides was he not the Sith Master? With the Sith's victory so close who says he has to keep following the rule of two? He would need to make some adjustments to his plan, but that would be a small price to pay for a Sith army under his command.

"Very well. You may train Kenobi."

Dooku bowed, "Thank you my master. It will take time, but I am confident I will succeed."

"Take all the time you need. After all, the longer the war goes on the more power I can amass." He could almost see Kenobi and Skywalker slaying their former Jedi friends. Now he won't have to worry about Kenobi keeping Skywalker away from him. He will be delivering Skywalker to him himself.

Dooku bowed once more then the communication was cut. Sideous took off his hood and Sith robe. He hid them in a closet and became Chancellor Palpatine once again. His desk comm went off.

"Yes?" He asked his secretary.

"Senator Amidala and Jedi Skywalker wish to speak to you," His secretary said.

"Send them in," What perfect timing. He had been aiming to turn Skywalker against Kenobi, but now he would need to do the opposite. Easy. Skywalker was so gullible he would never notice the change.

"Welcome Knight Skywalker and you too Senator," Palpatine greeted them with false politeness.

"Chancellor," Anakin said. "I know we have just entered a war, but the Jedi council has given me two weeks off."

"It is no trouble. It is a shame you had to lose you master the way you did. He was very brave man," Palpatine said.

"He was the closest thing I had to a father, though I suppose he was more like a brother," Anakin said. "I was mad at him for holding me back, but now I regret ever saying that."

Palpatine nodded, "Yes, I too thought he was holding you back, and perhaps he was. But if he was, I now believe it was simply out of concern for you. He didn't want to let you go."

"He saved our planet," Amidala reminded him.

"Yes," Palaptine said, "No matter what happens, whatever his fate may be, he shall be long remembered as a hero of Naboo."

Amidala cleared her throat, "I plan on taking Jedi Skywalker to Naboo. I believe he will like it there."

"Of course," Palpatine agreed. "So I assume you will also be leaving as well?" He asked the senator.

"Yes. Obi-wan and Master Yoda asked me to watch over him," Amidala said.

"Just as he watched over you, you will now watch over him?" Palpatine asked. Ironic, he thought to himself.

"I guess I never thought about it that way, but yes," Amidala said.

Palpatine plastered on a fake smile, "Well, have a nice trip and do be safe."

"Thank you chancellor," Skywalker and Amidala said. Palpatine watched them leave his office. Soon Skywalker will be his, or perhaps he should say soon, Skywalker will be Kenobi's. Either one works for him. As long as Skywalker is a Sith and the galaxy is his that is all he cares about.

"If only I had thought of this sooner."
