Wave was checking the cockpit "The probe hit us pretty badly. Repairs are gonna take a little while longer" she said into a commlink. Sonic was in the walkers control room answering her "Alright. Do as best you can No telling when the Empire will get here. We've got to get off the surface" "The Empire's not our only problem. There's a storm coming up behind us". Sonic sighed "If the Empire get's here before we take off the storm will be the least of our problems". Fang entered with a data pad "Here they are, the coordinates of every Republic base, Separatist installation, pirate hideout and smuggler's den in the Outer Zones". Karl nodded "Plus a few Wispon bases that even they've forgotten about". Tails smiled "Thank you. You sure you won't come with us?" "Yeah, you're not bad in a fight. I mean for older, gentlemen" Tex added. Fang looked guilty "Like I said, our war's over, kid. Don't much care to get mixed up in another. Say hello to Commander Rose for me" "What about the Empire? What if they find you?".
Fang and the others didn't look worried "We can take care of ourselves". Sonic changed the commlink frequency "Naka-one to Naka-two. Gonna be down here a while longer. Give me some good news. Has the Empire showed up yet?". He heard a thud and the Sally yelling "Ow! I'm a little busy repairing the Hurst, but G-merl's been scanning. So far, nothing". Sonic then heard a sound that he recognised as a hyperspace jump "Um, Sonic. May have to take that back. A Scarship just came out of hyperspace. Gonna power down so they can't see me. Once I finish my repairs, I'll come get you. Good luck down there". Fang pondered "If they follow procedure, they'll fly search patterns based on our last confirmed position" "Or they'll call" Konor said sowing them his screen which was flashing. Karl went up to the screen "They'll want me. I'm the one that has to deal with talking them" the others left the room. Infinite appeared on the screen without his mask "CC-0112. Commander Karl is it?" he asked respectfully. Karl gulped "Yep, that's me. What can I do for you, sir?" "Please transmit your coordinates so I can investigate a Shinobi sighting". Karl pretended to be surprised "What? Uh, Shi-Shinobi? Uh, no, no. There's no Shinobi here".
Fang then appeared behind him "Uh, sorry for wasting your time". Infinite raised his eyebrows "This image was taken by one of our probes. It clearly shows you harbouring know Freedom Fighters". It showed them an image of the walker carrying the Sneak "Now surrender them or be destroyed" Infinite said coldly. Fang didn't look worried "If it's a fight you want, I hope you brought a better call of soldier than those stormtroopers" "They serve the Empire well, and I have a great many of them" "You're gonna need all of them". Tex chuckled "I like these guys" there was a rumbling outside, and Wave ran in "They found us" "Battle stations" Fang said. They opened up a crate and took out rocket launchers. They ran outside and saw fighters shooting down at them. Sonic and Tails ran in front of the Sneak and ignited their lightsaber "Shouldn't we protect the walker" "Trust me, I've seen these things take a hit". Tex was firing a minigun while Wave was using her Wispon to try and shoot the fighter down. Konor was laughing insanely "Ha, we haven't been shot at in years" "Well it happens to us everyday" Wave said. Konor got passed a rocket launcher, he waited for the fighter make another pass and fired managing to shoot it down. Fang laughed "Konor, you still got it" "It's in my blood". Sonic saw the storm getting closer "Wave, we need the Sneak fixed fast" "I'm on it".
Later Tails was sitting on the canon with Fang showing him how to work it. Tails turned to him "So, what was it like in the Clone War" "I don't think the fighting ever got to Emerald Hill. I tell ya, war was never dull. The general I fought with was among the greatest of the Shinobi. I trusted him with my life more times than I can count". Fang sighed "And I tried my best to keep that trust" they didn't notice Sonic was listening. Wave stepped out of the Sneak "Alright. With any luck, we can get out of here soon". Tails was troubled "We can't just leave Fang, Karl and Konor here" "We'll be fine, kid". Tex suddenly stood up "Wait. You hear that?". Wave used her mask to look ahead "Egg-walkers". The all got on their binoculars, Konor laughed "Look at the size of those things". Fang examined them "Huh. Reinforced armour plating, heavy cannons, and antipersonnel blasters. Mmm".
Sonic rolled his eyes "I'm glad you guys are excited but those giant death machines are on their way to blow us bits!". Fang turned to Karl "Set vector two-niner-zero" he nodded and got in the cockpit. This surprised Sonic "Wait, you're just gonna turn and run? Just like that?". Fang went over to the cannon "Well, if you've got a better idea, sir, now's the time. Until then, we're having this fight on our terms". He then looked to Konor "Drop the death worm. We gotta get moving". Konor was in the cockpit and sighed "Oh! Bye-bye, Goldy" he released the worm. Karl turned the walker around as the others fired on it. Wave stepped out of the Sneak "Sonic, I'm not sure how far we'll get, but I think she'll fly" "Good enough for me. Tex, we're going now" "Too late. The walkers will shoot you down" Fang told them. Wave had an idea "We can wait until we enter the storm. It'll scramble the sensors". Fang nodded "But a Shinobi won't". Sonic thought then nodded "Alright, everybody inside" "Sir, yes, sir" Fang said happily as they all ran into the walker as it entered the storm.
Sally was in the dead ship "That's it. I can't wait any longer". She went over to G-merl and activated him "You need to be quiet. They're right above us. They must have finished their initial scan, but I don't want to take any chances. Keep your power low and help me put this panel back together". G-merl beeped "Really? You won't be working much slower than you normally do", the gizoid was annoyed.
Wave was speaking to the others "Those walkers are impervious to blasters, but they have one weak point in their armour, the neck". Konor was excited "One well placed shot from the main gun should destroy it" "One shot's all we'll get" Fang said. The Imperial walkers were right behind them in the storm but was unable to see them. Tex was checking the scanners "How're we supposed to shoot something we can't see?". Sonic had an idea "you don't always have to see something to know where it is. If you're willing to trust me, I can get us that shot". Fang nodded "I always trust my general". Sonic closed his eyes and reached out with the Force "Prepare to stop. Now!", Karl did so, they all heard the thudding of walker feet on either side of them. Sonic focused "Commander Karl, circle left, double time". He then opened his eyes "If what I'm sensing is right, we're surrounded" "What?" Tails said in shock. Fang understood "We're surrounded so we can get a shot. It's crazy but it's probably our best chance". Wave nodded "Once we fire, we'll reveal our location. If we miss, it's all over". Sonic smirked "Tails, you should take the shot". This idea seemed to make Tails nervous "What? I can't-". Fang however agreed with Sonic "He's right, kid. We need one Shinobi up there manning the cannon and another Shinobi down here to lead us out of this mess. You can see through the storm". Tails nervously and was thrown a pair of goggles by Wave who put on her mask "I'll spot you". The two with some struggle made their way through the outside of the walker towards the cannon. He sat down and his commlink activated "Tails, there's a walker somewhere around point five". Tails turned the cannon in that direction "Targeting's useless. I can't see it" "You're not going to see it with your eyes". He felt Sonic's mind through the Force, he on instinct moved the cannon up slightly and to the left. He fired, he couldn't see but he thought the sound of metal clanking and followed by an explosion meant he hit it "Got him". Karl drove the walker in the created opening as the Imperials fired at the last known location.
On the bridge of the Scarship the Naugus was waiting "Is there any word from Agent Infinite?" "No, sir. He entered a sandstorm and are having trouble reaching him" an officer said. Another one stood up "Sir, Lord Eclipse is making contact. He's ordered we immediately rendezvous with his shuttle".
Sally was working on the Hurst when she saw the Scarship turn away and jump to hyperspace "This is really good or really bad". G-merl beeped "Of course you would think bad. Have you finished the last of repairs?". G-merl shook his head "Well get on it".
The walker escaped the sandstorm, and everyone ran out "Nice shot, kid. You better get going. This your only chance" Fang said. Tails shook his head "We can't leave now" "We have to get the information they gave us back to the Freedom Fighters" Sonic said. Tails didn't move "The other part of our mission was to bring Fang back with us. We can't just abandon them". Fang sighed "You're not abandoning anyone. We're covering your escape. Now, move". Everyone o ran into the shuttle, Tails reluctantly did so. Fang got on the cannon "We're soldiers, Tails. This is what we were born to do". The shuttle took off as the Egg walkers exited the sand. The walker turned around to face the Imperials. Fang grinned "Boys, this might be it. At least we'll go down fighting like a clone should" "We're with you, captain" Karl yelled from the cockpit. They fired on the walkers, but it had no effect.
On board the shuttle Tails sighed and looked to Sonic who was piloting "Sonic, you know better than anyone. They won't give up. This fight is gonna be their last". Sonic didn't say anything, "What're we gonna tell Amy. Fang was her friend, even though he was a clone". Sonic sighed "I hate it when you're right. As rare as it is".
The walker was taking a beating from blaster fire eventually falling forward "Come on Karl. It's just a scratch. Keep moving forward, soldier!". The walker with some struggle to got back up. "I'm going for the legs" Karl drove it right into the legs of the lead walker. It however managed to push it up, the canons went down to finish them off. Fang closed his eyes ready for the end when the Sneak suddenly flew in and fired on the walker stopping it. It then flew over the other walker and dropped Sonic, Tails and Tex onto the head. They ignited their lightsabers and cut through. Fang saw this and smiled "Just like the old days". Tex jumped into the cockpit of the walker and clanked the drivers had together. Sonic and Tex sat down and fired at the other walker. Fang taking advantage of the distraction fired at the walker's neck causing it to collapse. Infinite ran out of the walker with two drivers holding Extreme Gear boards and raced away. Fang helped Karl out of the wreckage "Looks like we live to fight another day" "Don't we always?". Konor then climbed out "We do when there's a Shinobi with us". They looked up to the walker carrying the Shinobi and saluted. They were then all happy to see the Hurst appear.
A shuttle landed in the Scarship where the Commander was waiting. The shuttle opened revealing a male brown wearing a blue shirt. Naugus bowed his head "Inquisitor Sleuth, I thought Lord Eclipse was coming aboard" "Lord Eclipse has sent me in his place". Naugus nervously nodded "Well this unnecessary diversion has compromised the success of Agent Infinite's mission. We must return". Sleuth walked past him "I care not for your struggles. I will succeed where Infinite has failed".
The Hurst was docked with a Freedom Fighter cruiser and the crew entered. They turned a corner and saw Amy waiting for them. The crew smiled and moved out of the way revealing Fang now wearing his old stetson hat. He stood to attention "Commander". Amy smiled and walked up to him, Fang smiled "You got old" "Had to happen sometime, Fang". There was a pause before Amy suddenly hugged Fang warmly which he returned "I'm gad you're still alive, kid" "You too". Fang turned to the others "I wouldn't be if it weren't for these guys". Amy nodded "Than you for trusting my friend". Sonic sighed "It wasn't easy. It's still not" "Nothing worth doing is" Amy said.
