In a hanger bay Sally was telling two agents their mission when Tails and Wave walked out of the Hurst "You said you had another mission. What do you want me to do?" "Actually is just for Wave". Wave smirked and elbowed Tails "Ow. Hey", Wave stepped forward and Sally showed her a pad "There's a courier coming in who has secret information. I need you to pick him up and transport him to Havok outpost". Wave nodded "Sounds easy enough" "If it was easy, I'd send someone else. This information is important. We have to get it through. Keep a low profile" "Don't worry. You can trust me. What's this courier look like?". Sally pressed the pad "I don't know, but they'll respond to this code phrase". Wave's wrist device activated "Got it" she put her mask on. Tails looked to Sally "I can be low profile too" "You can be… backup, along with G-merl, but Wave's in charge" "Understood". Tails and G-merl followed Wave out of the bay "Are you okay with me coming?" he asked. Wave kept staring forward as she answered, "Why not?" "You just seem to prefer being alone. You spend a lot of time in your room alone. Actually, you tend to eat alone. Combat practice alone. In fact, I've heard you say more than once 'I want to be alone'. Quite often actually". Tails didn't notice that Wave stopped and was staring at a symbol that was painted on the wall". She took off her mask and examined the paint, Tails finally noticed "What's that?" "Nothing" she put her mask back on and continued. They arrived at another bay where a transport was dropping off passengers from Mobotropolis "How do we know which one is the courier?" Tails asked. "The code phrase is, 'It's a long was to Echidnaopolis'" Wave answered.
They had spent the last few hours repeating the exact same words to people, some just ignored, some were annoyed, and one had punched Tails for somehow offending him. The two were now sitting on crates with Tails having a black eye "It's gonna be a long way back to the Hurst if we miss this courier" "We couldn't have. Sally had confirmation he boarded the shuttle. Are you sure you were saying the code phrase, right?". Tails rolled his eyes "I've been saying it enough times. It's long way to Echidnaopolis". The crate Tails was sitting on suddenly opened up revealing a motobug. Tails was confused but Wave realised "Wait a minute. That is the courier. Talk about a low profile. He came in with the cargo payload". She examined the motobug "He's unit MB-86" "Nice to meet you, MB" Tails said. G-merl and MB started to talk as Tails stepped over to Wave "Why would they hide important information in his binary brain" "Well, would you suspect would you suspect that thing of being a spy full of secrets" "No, I guess not". Suddenly a female rabbit jumped down in front of them "I would".
The rabbit had robotic legs and a robotic left arm. He wore a brown jacket, a stetson and a gun belt, she spoke with a southern accent. Wave glared through her mask at the rabbit "Bunnie" she said with contempt in her voice. The two began to slowly circle each other "I saw your mark old friend" "Friend? I'm touched you'd still call me that". Tails stared at the two of them completely lost "Uh, you two know each other?". Wave ignored him and kept her eyes on Bunnie "Still a bounty hunter, I see" "Don't tell me you don't miss it". Tails didn't know Wave used to be a bounty hunter but at the same time it didn't exactly shock him. "Why are you here?" "For the motobug" Bunnie answered grinning. Tails looked between the two of them "So, how do you two know each other?". Wave didn't answer so Bunnie did "She never told you how we broke out of the Imperial Academy?" "Yeah, then you got greedy and left me for dead" Wave said angrily. Bunnie laughed "You'd have been better off dead than joining this band of Freedom Fighters. I didn't believe it until I saw the Empire put a bounty on you". Wave had her hand over her pistol "You gonna try to collect on it?" "Haven't decided yet. Besides, I work for the Destructix now, and I have another job to finish first" "I can't let you do that". Tails could tell they were both going for their pistols "How about we all relax before" "You there". Tails saw stormtroopers walking towards them, he sighed "That happens". The troopers advanced on them "Citizens, what's going on here. This hanger is on curfew. You need to leave immediately".
Bunnie turned to them "Don't interrupt us!" she shot at the troopers. Wave and Tails took cover, the former shot one of the troopers which Bunnie saw "Nice shot. Haven't lost your touch". Tails saw more troopers coming "Gem, get MB onboard the shuttle. Wave, let's go!". The two of them ran onboard the shuttle after MB. The pilot robot stared at them "I'm sorry, but there are no more flights scheduled for this evening. If you contact-" "Yeah, I don't have time to book a ticket. G-merl, shut him down and take over". The robot looked between Wave and the gizoid "That is unacceptable. This is my ship, and I will not…." G-merl shut him down. Tails was at the door shooting stormtroopers when Wave managed to take off. Tails was about to get inside but a blaster bolt hi right next to him causing him to fall out of the ship and land on the roof of the hanger bay. He activated his commlink "Sally, the mission's gotten complicated" "I thought you were keeping a low profile" "Yeah, well, it just went high profile!". He looked down and saw Bunnie taking out a group of troopers with her bare hands. "I think I should go" Tails said jumping down the other side of the bay and running for it.
G-merl beeped to Wave "I'm sure Tails is fine. Now, program the hyperdrive. We need to get to those rendezvous' coordinates. We got lucky to get away so easily". An alarm suddenly went off "I'm scanning a ship. Oh, no". The ship was suddenly hit from behind "Yeah, that's Bunnie, alright. She knocked out our hyperdrive, which means I bet I know her next move. Lock yourselves down!". The ship doors suddenly blew open and thing were getting sucked out. Wave grabbed onto the console with one hand and grabbed MB with the other. G-merl was suddenly sucked out "Gem!". Wave let go of the console and quickly pressed a button activating a shield at the door sealing it "Next time I buy a ship it'll be one with guns". She looked ahead and saw Bunnie in her ship then saw the console beeping. She presses a button and a hologram of Bunnie appeared in front of her. Wave crossed her arms as Bunnie spoke "No hard feelings, Wave. It's not personal, just business. And speaking of business, here's the deal. Toss out the motobug and I'll let you live" "And if I refuse?". Bunnie raised her eyebrow "What do you think the opposite of living is?". Wave then was surprised to see G-merl using his jets to land on the roof of Bunnie's ship, he waved at her. Wave hid her surprise "I don't believe you can do it". Bunnie looked down regretfully "Maybe that's true, but I've changed more than you realize. I have no loyalties now". Wave saw G-merl remove art of the ship "Right. Finally, part of the Destructix" "Just like we always dreamed. I got the best weapons best ship, and I'm feared across the galaxy".
Wave glared at her "They're slavers and assassins who don't care about anything, but body counts and quotas. They'd kill you too, for a profit" "Speaking of which, your time is up. Now hand over the MB". Wave smirked "You can't do it". Bunnie gave a slight sigh "I really wish it hadn't come to this, old friend". Wave saw the guns move but nothing happened "What!?". G-merl jumped off the ship waving at Bunnie before flying onto Wave's. Wave smirked "So long, old friend" she flew away and Bunnie followed. G-merl was suddenly pulled by an invisible force back to Bunnie's ship and was dragged into the cargo hold. Wave detected the tractor beam on her ship and sighed. She turned to face the other ship "Alright, Bunnie. Let's make a trade" "I'll extend the docking ramp and get your little friend ready". The two ships docked "Stay here" Wave told MB before entering the docking tunnel. On the other side Bunnie entered with G-merl behind her "Well, you haven't changed. Still soft". She then saw MB staring at her "you're not giving up the courier, are you" "Nope. You're going to have to get through me to get it". Bunnie scoffed "Sticking your neck out for a gizoid. Not very smart" "Gem's more than a gizoid. He's a Freedom Fighter and a friend". Bunnie sighed "I miss that. Tell you what. Give me the Motobug and I'll split the pay with you" "I don't do things for money anymore".
Bunnie rolled her eyes "Oh, yeah. Now you have a cause. You actually think your little group can beat the Empire. Grow up, little sister!". Wave pushed her back "We're not sisters. Not anymore. We only cared about ourselves" "It's called survival. You of all people should know you can't trust anyone". Wave paused "I forgive you" "For what?" "For leaving me for dead. And I still trust you. I met people who gave me a second chance in life, and that's what I'm giving you". Bunnie seemed taken aback by this but "Imperial cruiser to Drak shuttle 63725. Your craft has been identified as stolen. Prepare to be boarded". Wave stared at Bunnie "Truce?" "For now" they ran into Wave's ship. They saw the transport coming towards them "Prepare to be boarded. Attempt to flee and you will be fired upon". Bunnie turned to Wace "What's the plan. I can't jump to hyperspace when our ships are docked". Wave smirked "G-merl, overload the hyperdrive" the gizoid nodded and did so. Wave activated the commlink "Attention Imperial vessel. Please be aware, our ships have suffered extensive damage and are in danger of self-destruction". There was a pause, Wave assumed they were scanning "Shuttle craft, you have two minutes to stabilize. Then we will be coming aboard" "What can you do in two minutes?" Bunnie asked. Wave stood up "Watch. Gem, purge the reactor then get over to the D'Coolette and prepare to disengage the docking tube on my signal" "You're going to blow up the shuttle" Bunnie asked in surprise. Wave nodded "Which will get us the time we need to make our escape". Bunnie smiled "You always liked to make things go boom" "Something I learned from you. Still got the armoury of explosives you used to carry?" "Always".
Wave had placed bombs all over the console and then activated the pilot "Not take no for an answer!" "Captain, your ship is under attack. You need to exercise emergency protocol". Wave ran to the docking tube, but the ship was suddenly hit throwing her back. Bunnie felt this from her ship "Gizoid, release the docking tube or we'll all going to die!". G-merl beeped and Bunnie saw Wave knocked out on the floor". The pilot was doing his best "Engaging emergency protocols. Full power to the thrusters!". Bunnie sighed in frustration and ran through the docking tube and picked up Wave. She took him back to her ship "Happy now, gizoid. Get us out of here!". G-merl closed the door and released the docking tube. They were about to leave but the ship shook "The must have us in a tractor beam" "Not just our ship" Wave said smugly. Outside the transport was pulled towards the Imperial vessel but then exploded destroying the vessel and releasing Bunnie's ship. She quickly got on the controls and jumped to hyperspace.
The ship arrived at a different planet at a diner where Emerl was waiting with two Echidnaopolis soldiers. Wave took MB to him "You can report to Senator Wynmacher that his intel has arrived safe and sound". Emerl walked away with MB while Wave went back onto Bunnie's ship. It took off and Wave looked to Bunnie "So what happens now?". Bunnie stared blankly ahead "Payment's gone. I'll take you back". Wave smiled "Thank you".
They arrived back at the landing bay where Tails and Sally were waiting. Tails was surprised "Last time I saw those two they were shooting at each other". Sally smirked "First time we saw you, you were stealing from us". Tails was about to say something but then realised she has a good point. She walked up to Wave "Congratulations on a successful mission and thank you for helping the cause" she said to Bunnie. The rabbit shrugged "Yeah well don't get used to it. A full-on fight with the Empire is something I'm not ready for". Sally understood that and walked away. Tails came forward "Hi, I'm Tails. We were shooting at each other earlier" "I know. Bunnie told me about you". Tails eyes opened wide "Really, uh, well, it was good right?". There was silence and Tails could read the room "I'm gonna help Sally" he walked away. Bunnie turned to Wave who was about to say something but Bunnie stopped her "You… If you ever need a hand…" "Thanks" Wave said warmly. The two shook hands, Bunnie then went back to her ship and took off as Wave watched.
