*As all that was going down, Jackie McCoy was sitting at the phone on Dr. Lee's desk listening intently to a young lady who had taken barbituates.
*Note: Jackie McCoy is the Head of the nurse's department at Consular General Hospital. She stood at about 5'7" and was at one point of her tenure at the University of St. Georgina a Dean Student and the Valedictorian of her graduating class. She looked younger than her age showed, looking almost 27 for someone being on the cusp of turning 36. She had her shoulder length auburn hair up in a tight bun under her uniform cap, and commanded her demeaner with respect and an unwavering calm.
Jackie: You know, I have might know you, you said you've been here before?
Victim: Uh-huh
*Dr. Lee was standing at the doorway.
Jackie: Do you remember when you were here last?
Victim: I think it was around a holiday.
Jackie: Which one, Hun?
Victim: Around July
Jackie: The 4th?
Victim: Yes I thinks so.
*Dr. Lee left his office door and picked up the wall phone near by.
Dr. Lee: Tell them its around the 4th of July.
*He held the phone down to his chest. Dr. Gibson came back and he held it up to his ear.
Dr. Gibson: The address is 1544 Maron Street.
*Dr. Lee hit the line active with the Fire Dispatcher, and relayed the address.
Fire Dispatcher: Station 59, Consular confirms the address is 1544 Maron Street. 1-5-4-4 Maron Street.
Bart: Squad 59, 10-4.
Dustin: Alpha-99 to dispatch, we're joining Squad 59 at 1544 Maron Street.
*The Charger shot out onto the street, siren blaring and Magnetic light flashing red on the passenger roof. The charger drove down the street a ways and Dustin turned the wheel hard, over-steering the charger into a drift around the end house on Maron street. They Black dodge raced down the street and slid to a screeching stop across the street where Squad 59 was pulling in. The two detectives got out of the charger and made their way over to Bart and Bryon.
Dustin: We'll get in for you guys.
Bryon: Ok, be careful.
*Dustin walked up onto the front patio and knocked on the door.
Dustin: Hello? Fire and Police Departments!
*No one answered. He pounded on the door. Still no answer.
Dustin: Hell with it!
*Dustin stepped back and kicked the door as hard as he could. The door flew open so hard it broke one of the brass hinges apart into two pieces. The door hung off to the side by the bottom hinge and out of the way. Dustin walked in and seen the girl. No older than 22, and wearing a skin-tight navy-blue t-shirt, and a pair of high waisted denim jeans with the ends of the legs hanging over her bare feet. Her color was that of someone who was slightly overdosed on barbiturates. He went to pick her up and recoiled with a splitting headache. He stumbled back out of the house and leaned up against the front quarter panel of the Squad. Bryon went in and carried her out to the grass just as engine 59 arrived. *
Bart: Consular, this is Squad 59.
Dr. Lee: We read you, 59.
Bart: We got her. She is safe.
Bart: Consular, our victim is approximately in her mid-20s. She has ingested an unknown amount of prescription medication and she was exposed to a heavy amount of Carbon Monoxide. Stand by for vitals.
Dr. Lee: 10-4, 59.
*Two L.S.P.D. '74 Monaco cruisers pulled in behind a 1970 Pontiac Bonneville Ambulance.
Bart: Vitals are as follows. BP: 100/65, Pulse: 125, Respiration: 18 Mild and Labored,
Monitor shows Sinus Tachycardia with no ectopy. Her skin is red, hot, and dry. Eyes are equal and reactive but are pinpoints. Lungs sound clear except cracks at the bases.
*Bart checked some reactive points to check her motor response.
Bart: Motor is responsive and slight rigor to the limbs. Requesting the use of Narcan.
*Captain Dean handed Bart a bottle Phenobarbital.
Bart: Consular, we have confirmation on the drug taken, it's Phenobarbital.
Dr. Lee: 59, Administer esophageal airway, start an IV, D5, and Put her on O2 high flow. And administer 1 amp Sodium/Bicarb, and 4ml Narcan IV.
Bart: 10-4
*As Bart administered the treatment on the girl, Bryon was giving Dustin some O2 while he sat on the running board of the Squad.
Bryon: You alright?
Dustin: Yeah I kicked that door down and that Carbon hit mile like a punch. My head felt like it was gonna split.
Bryon: Ok, bud. Just breathe in some oxygen, and you'll be ok.
Dustin: I will, Bry. Thanks.
Dr. Lee: The Hyperbaric Chamber will be ready when you get in, 59.
Bart: 10-4, Consular.
*The two men from the ambulance put her on the stretcher and put her in the Ambulance with Bart. Meanwhile, Dustin regained his bearings and went over to join Jason in the Charger.
Jason: You going to be, okay?
Dustin: Yeah, I'll be fine. My head doesn't hurt, and I don't feel dizzy anymore.
*The 1970 Pontiac Bonneville Ambulance, with the victim on the stretcher in the back and Bart in the jump seat, departed the scene with Squad 59 following behind.
Ambulance Driver: Unit 55 ETA is currently 8 minutes.
Dispatcher: 10-4, 55.
*As they drove down the road, approaching the 4-way intersection. At the same time, a damaged 1958 Plymouth Fury, Misfiring and belching blue oil smoke, was approaching the same 4-way intersection.
Ambulance Driver: We're almost there, WOAH!
*The Bonneville Ambulance narrowly dodged the '58 Plymouth as it raced across the intersection.
Barton: What the hell was that?
Driver: Beat up old 50's car just cut me off.
*Bart keyed his handy talkie.
Barton: DC, Squad 59. Inform the dispatcher of the State Police. Beat up 50's car just cut us off at the intersection of Lincoln and Maron.
*As the crew of Engine 59 finished up in the house, the police radio in the Charger went off.
Police Dispatcher: Alpha-99, Come-in.
*Dustin grabbed the mic.
Dustin: Go ahead
Dispatcher: We've heard reports of a beat up old 50's car that just cut off the Ambulance transporting the Maron Street Vic to Consular.
Dustin: Is there any current location?
Dispatcher: Negative. But he should be in the area.
Dustin: 10-4, we'll look around.
*Dustin and Jason got in the charger and took off towards the last known location. All the while, Cunningham in his damaged '58 Fury had stopped to do some minor repairs just past the intersection.
