Hey everyone, as you all can tell this isn't a new chapter. Instead it's an author's notice.
I don't have much to say so I'm going to get right too it, I'm no longer satisfied with the way I'm writing this fanfiction.
I enjoy The Rising of the shield hero so much. It's truly a bright spot on an otherwise over-saturated Isekai genre and it inspired me to write this fanfiction because of that but lately, especially as of the last three chapters or so I feel like I'm not doing it justice. It feel's haphazard and rushed, my Oc's personality is wildly inconsistent. (Honestly all of the heroes personalities are except for Naofumi). And I'm not involving the side characters the way they should be like Eclair, who I had released out of prison early on and then did nothing with her.
I'm not even characterizing the heroes like they should be, I'm skipping some key plot points because of that like their initial meeting and conversation about them being from alternate Japans.The entire fucking scene that made Naofumi the way he is.That's just two examples. I did that because people had already seen that, but that kind of world-building is what makes The Rising of the shield hero so unique so in hindsight I should have done it better justice.
I'm not using the potential of the Ring like I should be, and I'm not using the ideas that I created for the ring. I've hardly used the Ultimate Item creation for example.
In recent memory, the only thing I'm truly happy with is Yuri's character of all things, he is an Oc too. But he's not the MAIN Oc and I feel like I made him more consistent with his personality than Lucatiel who is supposed to be the main character. (Of this fanfiction, Naofumi is still the true protagonist and in the end much better).
Not only that, the point of view inconsistencies are extremely annoying. If not to you as readers then definitely myself. I shouldn't bounce back and forth between the third and first person style as it makes the story feel almost like whiplash.
Let me be absolutely clear: I am not abandoning this story. I am remastering it.
I have never done this before and usually when I grow unsatisfied I walk away from it, like my other fanfictions. Like Undying, which as a concept I still enjoy but in execution I failed in.
That's how much The Rising of the Shield hero has effected me. It's made me want to do it again to make it better and be better in writing this fanfic.
Which is why I'm officially announcing this: The Hero of the Ring Revived.
The first chapter is going to remain partially the same. But there will be a few new story pieces as well as the second chapter (Other than after they kill the balloon legion, I rushed Ren's development way to much).
That being said, I'm going to do my best to set Lucatiel's intended personality right from the get-go instead of making him inconsistent.
I'll try to re-release them by Monday, I hope you look forward to that and are willing to give this story a second chance.

P.S. Shout out to Dharshan. I appreciate you continuing to read my work especially after what I did with Undying. That became a damn mess at the end.
