'God bless Naruto Uzumaki', was the main thought going through his head.

Four years had been spent so far in this new, horrifying world. Pretty early on he began to notice that life here would not be easy. Naruto, bless his heart, had gone through a childhood of mistreatment and neglect, but 'he' wasn't a child, at least mentally.

Because the big issues scared him, he focused on little things, like Chakra. Having been in a world *without* chakra for however long, it made a huge difference to have access to it now. He was a "natural born sensor", as the ninja liked to call it, which he was beginning to suspect was caused by a deprivation of chakra somewhere in the development of other sensors, since that's clearly what caused his ability.

He had an intimate knowledge of the Naruto fandom, along with some other media, which helped him immensely. What he knew from his outsiderness was that he was going to be even more of a chakra freak than Naruto originally was.

The conclusion that he'd have more chakra came from the fact that A, he was two people, and B, his mind was a hell of a lot stronger than Naruto's even if that was only because of age. His Yin was going to be significantly higher, meaning Naruto's natural Yang would be less imbalanced and his chakra pool would increase.

Regrettably, he had found that sensing chakra...was about as far as he got. Controlling Chakra was *hard*. He knew he was successful at moving it, his sensing ability told him that much, but it took a lot of willpower to even make it budge.

He worked every day, he also finally understood what they meant by *cycling* chakra. For hours in his room at the orphanage he would slowly but surely make the chakra in his stomach, not Kurama's, swirl. Dear god was it a mind numbingly slow practice.

After a year of doing this it was still only barely faster, he assumed performance would jump when he reached the academy.

As far as life went, he...Naruto was doing okay. The villagers were awful, verbally abusive, and definitely biased against him, but it worked in more subtle ways than most fanfiction depicted it from what he knew. He was always given food last, every now and then the orphanage workers would 'forget' to bring him to library trips, but they always tried to make it go just that little bit over his head...or the head of a child at least.

Nobody directly attacked him, as that would be suicide by ANBU, but people could certainly 'ignore' him while being very, very alert at the same time. Chakra would spike in Shinobi if they recognized him, with a little bit of what he determined was fear shooting through them, he wasn't quite good enough for that to work on civilians yet.

Something that shocked him was that the Hokage hadn't seen him once. He found it kinda funny that the Hokage left Naruto without a single authority figure for years and just sorta hoped it worked out. He was 90% sure he saw Kakashi walk past once, he had been sitting under a tree in the park area of the orphanage at the time, but Kakashi not showing up was more acceptable.

A little surprise came in the form of the orphan's stipend. They didn't dare scam him out of it, because they weren't that thick, so he'd had just under living wages coming into a fund that would release to him when he became a genin or left the orphanage.

The original Naruto didn't make it long before he had to leave the orphanage, but he was decidedly less problematic than OG Naruto. So by the time he was genin, he should have a decent fund for himself.
