It all started on Ryder's 8th birthday which turned out to be the 6th anniversary of when Ryder came to Adventure Bay. Mayor Goodway (who Ryder used to called Auntie Goodway) was taking Ryder to the park because he didn't want a party at all but he wanted to have a day with one of his guardians. As he was playing on the playset, Mayor Goodway was keeping an eye on Ryder while he was about to go down the slide. "A-a-ar-" Ryder stuttered so Mayor Goodway helped him by saying "Are." "Ar-ar-e-are you watching Autie Goodway?" Ryder asked Goodway and she nodded. Ryder then went down the slide while exclaiming "Weeeee!!!!" Mayor Goodway giggled and she smiled but then Ryder saw something in the distanced so Ryder ran to it but Mayor Goodway had to run after him. She then tripped and fall making her loose Ryder so she started to panic as she got up from the ground. She then started to run from the direction of where Ryder went because she was hoping she could find him and get him so she didn't have to bother Bullet. She then found Ryder on a branch IN A TREE!!!! "RYDER GET DOWN FROM THERE!!!!!" Mayor Goodway exclaimed "But I need to save this baby bunny!" Ryder admitted as he scooped up a baby bunny into his hands "Wh-what???" Mayor Goodway asked but then Ryder jumped from the branch so Mayor Goodway held her arms out because of mother instinct and she caught Ryder. Ryder then got out of her arms and he took the baby bunny to where he saw the mother bunny. He gave the baby back to the mother and he went back to Mayor Goodway. "Y-you saved someone..." Mayor Goodway admitted and Ryder nodded. Mayor Goodway smiled but she was also worried that he risked his life to save a bunny. "I'm proud of you Ryder but you can't risk your life like that all willy nilly. You could have gotten hurt!" Mayor Goodway told Ryder but then Ryder replied with "B-but it's a babeh bunnix and it was two yo-yung to d-tie so I h-had to s-save i-it so it ca-can be s-afe and s-ound." Mayor Goodway smiled and she hugged Ryder. "I'm glad you're safe too and I'm glad that you care about others to save them." Ryder smiled but then Bullet walked over to Mayor Goodway with a chocolate lab pup. "Hello there Bullet, Hi Zuma!" Mayor Goodway told the two and Ryder immediately hid behind Mayor Goodway. "I saw everything and he looks like a great leader just like you know who." Bullet admitted so Mayor Goodway admitted to Bullet "Well he is 8 after all." "Do you think he wants to join the crew?" Bullet asked and Mayor Goodway nodded, she then asked Ryder "I know this is sudden but do you want to know something about adventure bay's rescue group?" Ryder nodded and Mayor Goodway explained to him "They are looking for a new member that will need to lead the pups like Zuma when they're at the age. You are best fitted for it because of who you're related to and about the countless times you helped me, Uncle Porter, and Uncle Turbot. I told Bullet about you and we both think that since you're going to be at the appropriate age for training, we think that you can be best fitted to be trained to be a leader for the Paw Patrol. What do you say?" "Y-yes!!! I-i w-wa-want to help o-othews a-and t-to be tw-ained! I w-will j-join the Puppy Pergade!!!!" Ryder replied with happiness. "It's called the Paw Patrol and it was started for someone who looked exactly like you Ryder!" Bullet explained to Ryder and Ryder smiled but he didn't make eye contact. "Tomorrow, we can drop by the lookout and you can meet the other pups ok?" Mayor Goodway told Ryder and Ryder nodded. Zuma wagged his tail because he's happy that a new member is going to join the Paw Patrol but this time it wasn't a pup, it's a human boy!
The next day, Mr. Porter and Mayor Goodway walked to the lookout with Ryder's backpack and Ryder. Ryder was really nervous because Ryder was going to meet new beings. When they got there, Ryder's eyes lit up at the lookout because he never seen it up close and he was amazed. Just then he heard barking and laughing so Ryder immediately hid behind Mr. Porter (who he calls Uncle Pottah) because he wasn't ready to meet them. "Hi Mayor Goodway and Mr. Porter!!! Who's the new kid?" a voice asked the adults who Ryder will soon learn that the voice belongs to a pup called Rocky. "Well, this kid is Ryder!" Mr. Porter said as he moved out of the way and he put Ryder in front of him. Ryder looked down at the pups's paws and he didn't look up. "Ryder, you be nice to the pups ok? Me and Mr. Porter are going inside to talk to Bullet." Mayor Goodway told Ryder and Ryder replied with "Ok, Aunt-auntie Goodway." When Mayor Goodway, Mr. Porter, and Bullet went inside the lookout, Ryder had no choice but to stop looking at the ground. "Hi! I'm Skye!" a small cockapoo exclaimed and she then introduced the others who are Chase, Marshall, Zuma, and Rocky. "H-hi ummmm... I-I'm Wy-wydew..." Ryder muttered a bit quietly. "Can you say that again? I didn't hear it..." Rocky admitted and Ryder did say it again and it was a bit louder but not that much. "Nice too meet you Wyder!" Zuma replied as he smiled. Few minutes go by and everyone started to play hide n go seek freeze tag which they just came up with aka the two games that was tied up so they combined the two games together. Ryder was trying his best not to talk and make eye contact with anyone and he was succeeding until when he was being chased he tripped and he fell face first onto the grass hard. The pups ran over to make sure that he was ok and Ryder was but his face was kinda covered in dirt so Rocky grabbed a tissue and he gave it to Ryder who gently took it and wiped his face with. He thanked Rocky and Marshall made sure that Ryder was ok but Ryder was silent for the rest of the time.
When Mayor Goodway and Mr. Porter came out, it was time for them to leave but Ryder had to stay. "Do-don't g-go!" Ryder told them as he hugged them. "Ryder, Adventure Bay is luckily a small town so you can visit us whenever you want to ok? You can even call us on a non emergency phone you guys have so we can chat with you if you want to. Same goes for when you want to chat with Uncle Turbot aka Captain Turbot ok? We will miss you but we'll always be here in Adventure Bay if you need us, just make us proud and be a good boy for the Paw Patrol." Mr. Porter explained to Ryder and Ryder nodded as the three of them had one final hug together. When the two left, Bullet showed Ryder around the lookout and where stuff was like the old bedroom the old leader was in, the kitchen, food supply, bathroom, etc. and of course the control room and the garage which is nicknamed the workshop. Ryder smiled and he started to feel comfortable around Bullet. "Now Ryder, I know it'll take some time for you to get used to the pups and I promise that they will never hurt you. They were really excited to meet you and they already love you. I'm so glad to have you on the team." Bullet explained to Ryder and Ryder hugged him while he said "Th-thank you B-Bullet s-si-s- ummmmmmm..." "Sir, also I'm told you're having problems talking so I can continue you learning them like how your guardians taught you." Bullet explained and Ryder smiled. Ryder then said "It's g-good to b-bee on the t-team Bullet s-sir."
