I decided to come up with this one to explain a bit about Ryder's past a bit. But this will have explanation of Abuse and blood, so if you don't like anything like that then please swipe or skip to the end or something similar so you're technically not reading it. I'll see you guys in the next one but for the brave souls reading and ready to read angst then let's get to it!!!
"Brat! Monster! Mistake! Brat! Monster! Mistake!" Those words keep on chanting in Ryder's dreams every time he has a dream similar to his past before he came to Adventure Bay. People say that you don't remember anything when you were really young but Ryder does and especially the ones when he used to be with Her. "BRAT! IDIOT! MISTAKE! MONSTER! B*!" The words kept on getting worse but then, he heard the line "I wish I could have shot you instead of your father..." That's when Ryder shot up from his bed with a gasp of horror. He was shaking of fear and he looked down at his knees now up to his chin. He kept on thinking about the names he was called and that one phrase in particular. 2 minutes go by and he broke down and he started to sob as his knees were up to his face like he was trying to his face like he was ashamed of one thing about him. He then cried until he fell asleep hoping that he wouldn't have that type of dream again.
In the morning, Ryder woke up in a different position because he got little sleep last night which is because he had that type of dream again. He didn't want to see or hear her but thanks to the wonders of dreams, he had to see and hear her like her voice was stuck in his head. He then got out of bed and he went to his dresser that had a mirror above it so he can see his upper half. His face was covered in scars like they were previous wounds but he didn't care about that but there were bags underneath his eyes and he looked like he hadn't slept at all so Ryder picked up the make-up on his dresser, put some make up on that covered up the scars so it looks like he doesn't have any scars, he grabbed a bandana, he put the bandana over his eyes in a way that he's covering up his eyes so no one noticed his eyes. He can kinda see through the bandana he smiled because he done it a few times before and now he's used to wearing it. When he left his room, he went up the elevator to the main floor, and then he went to go prepare the pups breakfast. As he was doing so, he got a call from Katie. "Hello? Ryder here!" Ryder exclaimed. He knew that Katie knew about him wearing a bandana being connected to his dreams and he expected that it was Katie calling him but Ryder soon thought 'SHOOT' when he heard Alex telling him this "Ryder! Some woman came by us when me and Katie were on a walk and she yelled at us! Katie tried to defend us but the woman grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and she threw Katie onto a tree that's hanging over the edge! Katie dropped her phone so that's why I'm now calling you and the woman's gone. Can you come help also cool bandana!" Ryder didn't know how to reply but he got himself together and he told Alex "Don't worry Alex, no job is too big no pup is too sma- yawns -all!!!" Ryder then hung up and he then call the pups and he exclaimed after a yawn "Paw Patrol too the lookout!!!" "Ryder needs us!!!" The pups exclaimed.
cue a wipeout of your choosing and after the normal stuff
"Ready for action Ryder sir!" Vhase exclaimed and he was kinda surprised that Ryder was wearing a bandana over his eyes again. This is the second time the pups seen Ryder wearing a bandana over his eyes but it's the first time for Rubble. Ryder then thanked the pups for hurrying and he explained the situation. After that, he then assigned the roles. "Chase, I'm going to need you and your net plus wrench to help get Katie to safety." "Chase is on the case!" "Marshall, I'm going to need you and your emt gear to see if Katie or Alex is hurt because we don't know if the woman did anything to Alex yet but we know that a fall Katie had, she may be hurt." "I'm ready for a ruff ruff rescue!" "And finally... Skye, we'll need you for air support in case we're having a hard time getting Katie out." "Ruff! This puppy's gotta fly!!!" "Paw Patrol is on yawn a roll!!!" Ryder exclaimed as he ran to the fireman poll and he went down it.
Once they got there, Ryder got a bad feeling about the woman but he shook it off. The pups did what they were assigned to do and Ryder saw a scratch mark from an object on the backside of Alex's hand so he asked Alex "Are you ok? You got a bad scratch." "The woman had some sort of metal thing and she took it out and she got my hand. That's when Katie got super defensive and tried to attack the woman but that's when Katie got thrown to the tree." Alex explained. Marshall heard what Alex explained and he was shocked but he was even more shocked when Ryder asked Alex "Did she have blonde hair, black crosses earrings, her hair in a long ponytail, a lime green symbol on her outfit, she had kinda see through stockings along with black high heels, and she has the same eye color as mine?" Alex nodded and he exclaimed "She looked exactly like how you described and she had a belt with sacks in it plus it had a sword holder!" "If you see her ever again then you must hide or go to the nearest adult or head straight back to Adventure Bay ok?" Ryder told her and Alex nodded questioning why Ryder sounded a bit more serious. "Marshall, can you wrap up Alex's hand?" Ryder asked Marshall and Marshall did so. When Marshall was done, he went over to go see if Katie was ok and Katie was ok but she only had about two bruises. 1 on her arm and one on her ankle. She didn't break or twist anything tho which is good. Katie went over to Alex and asked "You doing ok?" and Alex nodded. "Thanks pups and Ryder." Katie admitted as she picked up Alex. "You're welcome! If you're ever in trouble just y- yawns -yelp for help!" Ryder exclaimed and everyone smiled but then Marshall asked "Ryder, if it's not too personal but do you know that woman that you just described?" Ryder went silent for a moment and so did Katie because she knew that if Ryder described someone perfectly well, then he knew that person for awhile and he seen her more than one time. "Ummm, let's just say that she's someone in my past that I don't get along with that well..." Ryder admitted and the pups plus Alex nodded. Katie sighed in relief because she really didn't want Ryder to make himself uncomfortable.
When they all got back, Ryder dropped Katie and Alex off at the pet parlor. Katie let Alex inside so she can talk to Ryder privately so when Alex went inside, Katie turned to Ryder and told him "That was your mother huh..." Ryder looked down a bit and he nodded like he was in shame. "I thought she looked way different but she looks way worse than what I imagined... How did you put up with her in the past?" Katie asked in shocked. "I didn't... When I was 0-1yrs old I had my dad but the day before my 2nd birthday he fell into something called a coma and throughout my 2yr old life I had to put up with her and trust me I couldn't handle it. So, when I turned three on my birthday and exactly at 3am, I decided to run away like I heard a out what the kids or teens on the news did so I did that and I ran far from her. If I didn't do that I would probably still be there and it wouldn't be that good because now she has a new husband and I'm not ready to meet him. I found out the reason why my dad's in a coma and that's because my parents decided to get a divorce but when my dad said that he was taking me, my mom got furious and she decided to shoot him in the head which she did. My dad's still alive but he's now in a coma because of that incident and he hasn't waken up yet and- and- and-" Ryder explained as he started to tear up so Katie pulled him off of his ATV and she hugged him. Ryder was shocked but he hugged back and tears ran down his eyes as he did. "I... I miss him..." Ryder admitted and he kinda started to cry. Katie then started to comfort him because she knows what it's like to loose her parents but she was lucky that she has Alex but Ryder didn't have a sibling but the two acted like they were siblings so this means they're technically siblings but not really. Once Ryder calmed down, he apologized to Katie for doing that but Katie replied with "It's ok, you don't need to apologize for crying and such. Also, It's good to tell others what bothers you the most because you can't just keep them bottled up all of the time. Now, you should head back to the lookout before the pups get concerned ok Bandana boy?" Ryder nodded and he hopped onto his atv and he started to head back.
By the time he got back, the pups were distracted by their dance exercising and it was almost time for Lunch so Ryder parked his ATV in the garage and he went inside the lookout to fix the pup's lunch. After he did so he called the pups for lunch and they all came running. As they were eating, Ryder got a call so he went somewhere else to answer it so that he wouldn't bother the pups. When Ryder answered it tho, he thought it was an emergency but he instead started to get yelled at by an old foe from his past. "WHERE WERE YOU!!!!!" His mother exclaimed at him and he immediately turned off the camera because he didn't want to have his face shown to her and he didn't want to see her face. "Turn your camera on. NOW!" his mom exclaimed. Ryder didn't do what to do so he turned down the volume a bit because he didn't want the pups to hear. "Boy. You better turn your camera on and tell me where you were this whole entire time!!!!!" His mother yelled. "Wh-why did you call me?" Ryder asked while trying not to cry. "That's because I found out about you being a leader of the Paw Patrol! You're in that small low like town!!! Why are you there!?!" His mom exclaimed and Ryder stayed silent. He then realized that he started to tear up so he hung up on her because he didn't want to talk to her. Not even a few seconds later, she called him again but he declined it because he knew that if he had to get yelled at all of the time, he couldn't be able to talk to her without crying. Later that day there was another mission so Ryder, Skye, and Chase went to go deal with it but there was a three way split so Ryder went one way while the two pups took the others.
Few minutes go by and Chase found the kid that was missing because that was their mission so he called Ryder and Skye that he found the kid and they met back up when there was the split but it was only Skye and Chase, no Ryder. "Where's Ryder?" Chase asked Skye and Skye shrugged because she had no idea. "Will Ryder be ok?" The kid asked Chase and Chase nodded. "Skye, you go look for Ryder and I'll bring the kid home to their parents. Once I'm done I'll come and help you ok?" Chase explained to Skye. "Got it Chase!" Skye replied and she flew down the path Ryder took as Chase took the kid back to their Parents. Once Chase was done he went to go help Skye who was struggling to find Ryder. Skye then saw Ryder's ATV but no Ryder, she then flew down and landed to get a closer look and that's when she saw that the tires were flat, there were jax in the road, and the tires looked like they tried to turn to a stop. Skye looked around the ATV and she found footprints that belongs to Ryder's shoes and High heels but it was mostly high heels than Ryder's shoes. "Chase! I found footprints and Ryder's ATV, you need to get here now!!!" Skye exclaimed from her pup tag and Chase immediately started to come to her. When he got there he started to smell the footprints, and quickly his facial expression went from serious to a confused expression. "The shoe footprints are definitely Ryder's but the high heels smell like Ryder but only half of him..." Chase explained and Skye was confused now too. "Well, whoever took Ryder had a struggle based on how many footprints there are." Skye admitted but before Chase could say anything, they both heard a scream like someone was in pain or like they're in trouble. Chase immediately ran while he smelled the footprints. Skye followed Chase because both her and Chase recognized that scream anywhere. When they got to the place, they both saw the woman Ryder decribed earlier that day to Alex but what they also saw was Ryder on the grass crying and he had scars on his face along with a few cuts, his sleeves were ripped up, his knee was bleeding, there were bruises on him, and he had a black eye. "P-please stop!!!" Ryder exclaimed at the woman but the woman exclaimed "IF YOU DIDN'T RAN AWAY WHEN YOU WERE THREE THEN WE WOULDN'T BE HERE BY NOW AND WE WOULD BE BACK HOME WITH YOUR NEW FA-" "I DON'T WANT TO MEET HIM! HE'S NOT LIKE DAD!!!" Ryder cried out but that's when The woman picked Ryder up by the collar and she punched him which gave him a bloody nose. "DON'T SPEAK TO YOUR MOTHER LIKE THAT!!!!!" The woman exclaimed. Chase immediately started to run and he tackled the woman who's apparently Ryder's mom but when Chase did that, Ryder's mom let go of Ryder and Ryder fell to the ground but he didn't get up. Skye ran to Ryder to make sure that he was ok but she was soon tripped by Ryder's mom. "I had a feeling that these mutts were with you!" Ryder's mom admitted and that made Chase a bit mad so he put his paw on Ryder's mom's chin and he exclaimed "DON'T YOU EVER CALL SKYE OR THE OTHERS MUTTS!!!!" "Ch-chase... please don't yell..." Ryder told Chase and both Skye and Chase were shocked. That's when Ryder's mom pushed Chase off of her and she got away. Chase was kinda mad that she got away but he went over to Ryder and asked "Are you ok Ryder sir? What hurts the most?" "I-I'm fine Ch-cha- Ugh!!!" Ryder replied and he held the side of his stomach that was bleeding as he tried to sit up but he couldn't because of how much pain he was in. "Chase, we need Marhsall!!!" Skye exclaimed and Chase nodded as he tried to call Marshall from his pup tag but it didn't work. "Go try contacting him from your police cruiser! I'll stay with Ryder!" Skye told Chase and Chase nodded as he quickly ran to his cruiser. When Chase was out of sight, Ryder asked Skye "A-am I in trouble?" "No you're not in trouble Ryder, why would you be in trouble?" Skye replied. "B-because I d-didn't do anything t-to stop her a-and she threw my w-wristwatch over t-to that bush so i-i couldn't call f-for help... I-I'm sorry!" Ryder explained but Skye told him "Don't apologize, it wasn't your fault." Ryder nodded and they waited for Chase and Marshall.
By the time Chase and Marshall got back to Skye and Ryder. Ryder was passed out from exhaustion and the pain. Marshall then started to look over Ryder's wounds and he bandaged them up, he put an ice pack eyepatch over Ryder's blackeye, and he held a tissue underneath Ryder's nose until it stopped bleeding. "How did this happen?" Marshall asked Chase and Skye so Skye explained to Marshall what happened because she wanted to tell them what happened before the two came back. When she was done Marshall was shocked from Skye's story and Chase was shocked about what Skye explained what Ryder told her and asked her. "He thought it was his fault!?!" Chase asked Skye and Skye nodded. "Ok, we need to get Ryder back to the lookout. Chase, will you be able to tow Ryder's ATV back to the lookout? It might be a bit tricky with the wheels being popped but are you able to do it?" Marshall asked and Chase nodded.
Once they got back (which took a long time because they had to get Ryder into the ambulance), Marshall opened up the doors to the back of the ambulance and he have to have Chase's and Zuma's help with getting Ryder out while the others set up a spot in the main area (where the pups like to watch Apollo at) so they can keep an eye on Ryder and help take care of him. By the time they got Ryder inside, Rubble and Rocky helped them get Ryder to the pillow aka the beanbag chair. Once they got him to the beanbag chair, Skye came over with a blanket and she put it over Ryder's body so he stays warm when he sleep. "Should we wait for him to wake up?" Zuma asked and everyone nodded. Before they knew it they all fell asleep with Skye laying down next to Ryder not knowing that as Ryder sleeps he may hug her in his sleep.
"Brat! Monster! Imbecile! Idiot! Mistake!" The words came back in Ryder's dream and they weren't holding back. They kept on coming as they got louder and louder but then the words turned into Skye and Rubble exclaiming for Ryder to wake up. That's when he did and he was confused on how he's back at the lookout but he asked the two "Wh-what happened?" Skye told him what happened and Ryder was shocked because he thought that it was a dream. "Ryder, are you ok? You looked a bit scared..." Rubble asked and Ryder nodded. "I-i thought it was just a dream..." Ryder admitted and he realized that he was hugging Skye who looked like she wanted to be let go so he let her go. "Thanks and if she hurts you again then expect me to tackle her ok?" Skye told Ryder and he nodded but he felt embarrassed like this is the first time he was weak in front of the pups but it wasn't. It was going to take awhile for him to tell the pups about his past life but at least he knows that they're going to be with him and that he's safe no matter what as long as he has his pups with him.
