Ryder with glasses...Just, Ryder with glasses. Also this won't be the Canon story to how he got glasses in my au.
It was a normal day in Adventure Bay and the paw patrol were on a search mission to find some lost hikers. Ryder heard a cry for help so he went to go help the person and to which he did and he told the person where to go to safety. Once everyone was safe and all of the hikers were founded, Ryder made his way back to the pups but he was running a bit too fast which isn't good. He then tripped over a fallen over tree and he tumbled down a hill and his left eye got poked by a stick. Luckily the stick didn't get stuck in his eye but he did felt pain in his left eye as it started to bleed. Once he stopped rolling down the hill he got on his knees and he covered his left eye with his hand as he shook a bit like he doesn't want to get up because of how much pain he's feeling in his eye plus head. "Ryder? You ok?" Chase asked through his pup tag. "No! My eye got poked and now my head hurts from it plus my eye is bleeding!" Ryder explained and Chase immediately asked "Can you try to walk?" "With this migraine? I can try!" Ryder admitted as he got up from the ground.
His head started to pound as he made his way back to the pups, but once he got there he didn't know if he could drive his atv back to the lookout since his head was hurting really bad. He did just fall down a hill so his head hit multiple stuff but his left eye hurts the most out of all the stuff on his head. Marshall had Ryder sit down in his ambulance which had the doors open so the other pups watched as Marshall looked over Ryder's head wounds and his eye. "Hmmm... I can heal you head wounds but your eye may need to be looked at by a human vet." Marshall told Ryder and Ryder started to giggle. "Don't you mean a doctor? A human doctor?" Ryder asked Marshall and Marshall nodded. "But it'll look weird for a young pup like us to take you to the doctors tho so we may have to have Jake take you." Marshall admitted after he finished bandaging up Ryder's wound and Ryder held a cloth over his eye. They were lucky that Everest and Jake came to help look for the hikers and that Jake came in his pick up truck. So as the hikers and the pups went to their homes, Jake drove Ryder to the urgent care but Jake didn't let Ryder see the damage to his eye because even he was freaked out about Ryder's eye bleeding so Ryder held the cloth on his eye.
Once they got to the urgent care and once they were in the waiting room, Ryder started to feel a bit scared because of how many people were there and how a few of them (two middle aged men and one woman) were giving them looks that would make every kid and teenager uncomfortable. Ryder then hugged Jake out of sacredness and Jake noticed so he hugged back to protect his 'little bro' because of how he can tell that Ryder was a bit scared. "Ryder, what's wrong?" Jake whispered to Ryder. "Two men and one woman are giving me a look like they want to do something bad to me." Ryder whispered. Jake looked up and he saw the suspects so he gave them a glare back which stopped them. "Don't worry your big brother will protect you like how you protect all of Adventure Bay." Jake told Ryder and Ryder nodded. As soon as a doctor appeared from the door and called Ryder's name, Ryder immediately bolted it to the door and Jake obviously followed. Ryder still held the cloth over his eye tho until him, Jake, and the doctor got to the examination.
After the examination the pups were all waiting for the two to return since they were worried about Ryder. Everest was waiting with them because she really doesn't want to wait at the cabin alone and she wants to keep the other pups company. "I hope Ryder's ok." Chase admitted and the other pups agreed. That's when they heard Jake's car so they all looked at the doors waiting for the two to enter the lookout, the two did but Ryder was asleep so Jake carried him to bed. When Jake came back, he told the pups Ryder's condition which surprised them to be something minor but the pups who live with Ryder now know to not let Ryder itch his eye and that he has to keep the eye patch on for a week starting today plus to let him rest since his headache was being caused because of his eye. Once Jake and Everest went home, the pups went to go check on Ryder and they say that he was still asleep and they sighed in relief since Ryder was getting the rest he needs.
As the week went by Ryder's eye started to get better and he was also able to go on missions again but Marshall told him to stay on his atv for missions that can possibly damage his eyes and Ryder listened to Marshall since Marshall is the EMT of the team. Anyways Ryder woke up one day but his vision was starting to blurry and he brushed it off like it was probably a headache but with no pain. He then managed to get ready for the day at the beach and just in case for a sea patrol mission (he's wearing his swimmable t-shirt and his swimming trunks) despite his vision going really blurry. Once the paw patrol was ready they all piled into the paw patroller and they made their way to the beach but Ryder said nothing about his blurry vision tho. Anyways as the pups played on the beach while Chase was on lifeguard duty, Ryder's vision started to get even more blurry to the point he could barely see anyone's face as if he was almost as blind as a bat. He didn't say anything tho but since he knows the beach like the back of his hand he know how to get around like his vision wasn't bad at all. He then made sure everything was having fun and he noticed that Alex was all alone with his ball so Ryder went over to him and he asked "You ok Alex?" Alex nodded and he asked Ryder "Wanna play with the ball with me?" Ryder nodded because he doesn't want Ryder to play alone since playing alone is sometimes boring when you have no idea what to do. As Ryder and Alex were hitting the ball back and fourth a few kids came over and they all joined in. Ryder soon had to check on everyone else so that left Alex playing with the other little kids.
A few minutes later, Cap'n Turbot took Ryder out on the flounder and Rydwr made sure he can go with the pups permission so they know where he is. Anyways as they were out in sea, Ryder noticed that his way on the flounder isn't that good and with blurry vision was making it a bit hard on him. The motion of the flounder wasn't helping too because it was making everything a bit hard to handle too. Wally took notice while the two Turbot cousins fought over which direction they should go. Ryder looked for something to hold onto since he was getting really dizzy but he couldn't find anything. Wally then went over to Ryder and he had Ryder hold onto him which Ryder was thankful for. Ryder soon sat down on the bench on the flounder because he couldn't handle standing up the whole time while the cousins discuss. A few minutes go by and Cap'n Turbot went over to Ryder to check on him. "You ok Ryder? I noticed that you don't look to well." Cap'n Turbot asked Ryder and Ryder shrugged. "What's bothering you?" Cap'n Turbot asked and Ryder replied with "I'm genuinely ok but my vision is blurry but I don't have a headache and my vision plus the motion of the flounder is making me feel dizzy to the point I legit needed support of something to keep me standing. I sat down because I don't know how long I can stand for." "Hmmm... You told me before that your eye got poked right?" Cap'n Turbot asked and Ryder nodded. "I think because of that it messed up with your vision and you may need glasses to help you see better because I remember feeling what you're feeling right now before I got glasses when my vision went blurry." Cap'n Turbot admitted to Ryder. Ryder thought about it for a moment but then the two saw François chasing the steering wheel that POPPED RIGHT OFF THE FLOUNDER!!!!!!
That's when the flounder started to go out of control and Ryder realized he forgot his pup pad at the Beach Tower so he couldn't call the pups at all. Cap'n Turbot helped François chase after the steering wheel and Ryder went to go help but then the flounder jerked a bit and it moved everything from side to side including the people but Ryder accidentally got swung to the edge of the flounder and he soon fell off the flounder but since his vision was messed up he couldn't focus and the waves were starting to get stronger plus Ryder couldn't keep his head above water for long. The cousins noticed that Ryder went over board but the flounder was starting to get farther and farther away from him but that's when Cap'n Turbot went over board so François grabbed his phone to call the pups while Wally went to go help Cap'n Turbot and Ryder but since the waves were getting stronger are gonna make it hard, a storm was also coming towards them fast.
Meanwhile at the beach, everyone was having a fun time but Rubble ran towards the pups with the pup pad that Ryder uses in his mouth. "Hey Rubble! Is that Ryder's pup pad?" Skye asked Rubble once he got to them and he nodded. He then put the pup pad on the sand and all of the pups looked at it. Just then it rang and it was François calling so Chase answered it and told François "Hello? Chase here on Ryder's pup pad!" "The flounder's wheel popped off and the flounder is out of control but Ryder and my cousin fell off and Wally went to go help them but we lost Ryder and before he fell off he didn't look to well!" François explained and the pups were shocked. "Don't worry François, we're on our way!" Chase exclaimed but before anything can happen they heard thunder in the background and they all watched François fall off the flounder before the connection was lost.
Zuma decided to take charge so he pressed the button for the sea patrol missions and he exclaimed "Sea Patrol to the beach tower!" "Zuma needs us!!!" The rest of the pups exclaimed and Zuma picked up the pup pad and him along with the other pups but then Marshall's eyes got covered by something and he then tripped on a beach ball and soon he crashed into the other pups who were all waiting in front of the Beach Tower. "Oops! I guess I was as blind as a bat there that I almost took off!" Marshall admitted and all of the pups laughed before heading inside.
-Insert normal sea patrol on how they get in order but instead of Ryder it's Zuma-
Once the pups were in order minus Zuma, Chase exclaimed "Sea Patrol ready for action Zuma sir!" "So we all know why we're here, the Turbots, Wally, and Ryder were all on the flounder when the wheel came off and they all went over board but they lost Ryder and the waves are getting crazy and a storm is coming their way. We must get them all to safety and get the flounder under control along with making sure they're ok." Zuma explained and he swiped to Skye's pup tag. "Skye, I'll need you to scout ahead to find the flounder since it can possibly get anyone hurt." Zuma explained and Skye exclaimed her catchphrase.
(I'm not going to do their catchphrases because I'm lazy and I forgot their Sea Patrol catchphrases plus whenever Zuma says a pup's name then he swipes to their pup tags as well.)
"Chase, I'm gonna need you to scout in the water to look for the Turbots, Wally, and Ryder since we don't know how long they can keep a float for. Rocky, I'm gonna need you on Skye's harness to get onto the flounder and use a spare wheel we have to put on the flounder and to stop it. Marshall, I'm gonna need you to give the Wally, Turbots, and Ryder a checkup because they can be sea sick and Cap'n Turbot did say that Ryder wasn't doing to tell. Rubble, you and me are looking under water just in case any of the drowns and couldn't be spotted above water." Zuma commanded the pups and they all listened and pay attention. "Sea Patrol are on a roll!!!" Zuma exclaimed and all of the pups headed to the sea patrol but Zuma sat in Ryder's chair and he told Robo-Dog "Robo-Dog, load us up and take us out to sea and fast!" Robo-Dog barked and he did what he was told. Soon the sea patroller was out in sea going to rescue the Turbots, Wally, and Ryder.
Back with Ryder he was trying his best to stay above water but then a nig wave came towards him and he soon got covered in water and he made sure to held his breath before he got forcibly pulled under water tho luckily. As he was making his way up to the surface, the water of the waves kept forcing him to stay underwater. Ryder started to panic and he then heard rain and thunder above him as he kept on getting moved by the waves that were rocking him back and fourth. Ryder started to feel really nauseous and he doesn't know how long he can handle being conscious but all he can say he was really sea sick. That's when he heard the sea patroller horn in the distanced and he was glad that the others were there but he heard what he thinks to be Skye's vehicle with probably Rocky and Chase move over where he was and he realized that he was hidden from that pups so he started to loose hope. That's when he heard two vehicles coming his way but he was close to the ocean floor that he don't know how long they can get to him. Just then before Ryder passed out he saw a yellow blurr and a orange blurr of vehicles coming his way and at this point he didn't care what happens to him.
Zuma and Rubble saw Ryder under the water so as they made their way to him, they witnessed Ryder slipping into unconsciousness. "Hurry Rubble!!!" Zuma exclaimed and the two hurried but then the sea slug thought Ryder was a toy so she hit Ryder away from her. "Rubble, use your scooper to grab Ryder. I'll distract the slug." Zuma told Rubble and Rubble nodded as he got his scooper on his vehicle ready. Zuma then zoomed to the sea slug and he distracted her by having her chase him. Once the sea slug was away Rubble was able to grab Ryder and he quickly took him to the surface. As soon as they got to the surface, Rubble's vehicle's hood from the sub form of it came off so he's able to get out and Rubble went to Ryder and tried to wake him up and failed but at least Ryder coughed the water back into the ocean tho and he's breathing ok! Zuma soon came up after he got the sea slug distracted with something and he told Rubble "Go take Ryder back to the Sea Patroller, Marshall can see what's wrong with him." Rubble nodded and he got back into his vehicle and he drove back to the sea patroller.
Meanwhile at the Flounder, Skye was able to position Rocky correctly onto it and soon Rocky was able to get on the flounder. He then grabbed the wheel and he made his way to the pilot's area. He quickly put the wheel where it normally goes and he used his wrench to screw it on and once he was done he pulled the brakes which got the flounder to stop. Chase however gotten the Turbots safely onto his vehicle and together they went to the sea patroller as Rocky drove the flounder back to the safety of the shore.
When Ryder woke up, he was surrounded by his pups and they were in the control room in the beach tower and not only did his head hurt but he felt nauseous, dizzy, and almost all of the symptoms for sea sickness but he didn't care about that. His vision was still blurry to the point he couldn't see the pups's faces clearly. "Ryder, are you ok?" a white blurr that sounded like Marshall asked him. Ryder shook his head no so Marshall gave Ryder a checkup and thankfully Ryder had no broken bones but he was sea sick. "Looks like Ryder has sea sickness." Marshall admitted as he checked the thermometer. "Ryder, Cap'n Turbot mentioned about your vision being blurry. Is this true?" Marshall asked and Ryder thought about it like he doesn't want to tell the pups the truth but he nodded in defeat. "Ok, how many fingers am I holding up?" Marshall asked Ryder as he held up three fingers on his paw. "Ummmm... One?" Ryder asked and Marshall shook his head no. "Four?" Ryder guessed and Marshall shook his head no. "It's three." Marshall told Ryder and Chase wrote Ryder's name down on a piece of paper and he held it up to Ryder. "What name is on this piece of paper?" Chase asked Ryder and Ryder replied with "Rocky's name!" All of the pups went silent because of how Ryder got that wrong. "Rubble's name?" Ryder asked and the pups shook their heads no. The pups then went to one part of the room so they can talk while Ryder layed down on the floor and slept. "Ok, Ryder obviously needs glasses." Marshall told the pups and they all nodded. "I think I have some in my truck at the lookout that he can have! If I don't then we can upcycle anything to be glasses for Ryder!" Rocky explained and the rest of the pups agreed. "Let's get Ryder back to the lookout because I don't know if we have any place for him to rest for now until he's all better." Chase told the pups and they all nodded.
When Ryder woke up again he was in his room in the lookout and he was so confused on how he fell asleep at the beach tower and he woke up at the lookout. That's when it hit him that the pups took him home plus it was just starting to rain. Ryder then noticed he was laying down on a towel since he was still in his wet swimwear so Ryder got out of bed shakily, changes into his pajamas, put on a pink fuzzy warm robe, and instead of putting on his slippers he put on warm fuzzy socks instead because usually when he's wet after he takes a bath, he likes to dress in warm wear so he can feel comfy, warm, and dry. He still felt dizzy and nauseous but he wanted to go check on the pups tho. Just then he started to get a dizzy spell so he just sat on his bed and he tried to think of what to do. That's when a white blurr came in and Ryder recognized the blurr as Marshall. "How you feeling Ryder?" Marshall asked Ryder and Ryder replied with "I'm ok but I'm a bit dizzy and nauseous." "Well try this broth since it'll help ok?" Marshall told Ryder and Ryder did so as he drank the broth that Marshall gave him.
-An hour later-
Ryder actually started to feel better (despite him only throwing up about 2 times) so he made his way to where the pups are and they apparently have two things with them but Ryder didn't know what they were. "Hey Ryder! We found glasses for you to try on!" Rocky told Ryder as he handed him a round pair of glasses. Ryder tried it on and the pups started to giggle and Skye secretly took a photo because Ryder now looks like Harry Potter even tho he never watched or read Harry Potter yet. Ryder looked in a mirror and he admitted "I don't think these glasses suit me..." "Well try these on!" Rocky replied as he handed Ryder a pair of light blue, red, and white glasses that were actually paw patrol themed. Ryder took off the round glasses and he put on the other pair glasses on and he can see super clearly now and the glasses actually looked good. The pups actually thought that Ryder looked good in this pair of glasses. Ryder looked in the mirror and he actually loved it. "So lesson learned, be careful in case your eye gets poked because your vision can go blurry." Ryder told the pups and they all nodded.
