Homeward Bound

Team RWBY and Jaune's stay on this mysterious island had been anything but hospitable. Between hostile and strange animals hunting after them, and Neopolitan who was still dead set on murdering Ruby, they hadn't found much time for rest.

Despite this exhaustion, the group finally managed to reach the large tree in the center of the island that they assumed had to have some importance, and they were correct in that assumption as a strange portal sat at the base of it.

Within that portal was something the others couldn't clearly make out, but they also saw visions of Remnant within it, which to them was enough to prove it as a way home.

"So… Who's going through first?" Yang asked nervously.

"How about we all just step through together so we don't end up in different places or something." Blake recommended, taking hold of Yang's hand and looking her in the eyes. Her ears folded down as Yang tightly gripped onto her hand, determined to not let go.

"Sounds like as good a plan as any." Jaune agreed while taking hold of Weiss's hand as she rolled her eyes.

"Hey guys… About what happened before we fell down here-" Ruby was cut off by Weiss.

"It isn't your fault Ruby. We couldn't have accounted for what Cinder was planning." Weiss tried to assure her. "I mean especially the whole deal with her using the lamp's last question."

"Right…" Ruby stared at the ground solemnly, the words Cinder told to her before she fell echoing in her head.

"You should have never been born…"

"Ruby?" Yang asked as Ruby snapped out of her daze and turned towards the others. "R-Right. It's time to go home."

"Let's hope everyone's doing okay…" Jaune paused, remembering how Winter was as he made his escape attempt with the others.

Before he had any time to get as lost in his thoughts as Ruby just had, he was suddenly pulled along with the others into the portal at the base of the tree.

A shadow that was watching the group enter through the portal jumped down from a tree branch and onto the ground in front of the tree. Neo narrowed her eyes, the simpleminded thought of revenge still plaguing her mind.

But if this was a way back to Remnant, then that meant she'd also be able to get back at that bitch Cinder for double crossing her.

"A two for one deal." she thought while walking into the portal after the larger group.

Commentary: I'm sure you weren't expecting me to upload ANOTHER story while RWBY RE: Volume 8 is running, but here we are. Truth be told, all of Volume 8 is already written out and whatnot, as well as the story I plan on uploading after Volume 8, taking it's slot. (I still clearly need to work on my editing skills, considering how many errors I spot upon multiple readthroughs of each chapter.)

But back to this story... I'll go more in depth on why I've started this story next chapter. All you really need to know is that we're screwing with time here. But really only for this one trip.

As for update frequency? Well that's the thing with this story, I plan on not having a schedule for this one, and this one being the most free-form story I've put out. Chapter uploads can be as consistent or inconsistent as I want. I could have 3 chapters in an update or it could just be 1. It honestly just comes down to how many I decide to put out there.
