Disclaimer: I do not own Akame Ga Kill and this fanfiction has been written purely for other people's enjoyment.

A/N: Hey guys, welcome to my first fanfiction. I've decided to do it on Akame Ga Kill since I thought it was a really great anime, but I was extremely unsatisfied with the ending. I feel like the show killed off too many great characters, albeit it was necessary, especially the death of Tatsumi which I thought was stupid. Also, the relationship between Tatsumi and Mine did not make much sense to me, since Mine was not focused on as a character as much as the others. Therefore, I feel like Tatsumi should have ended with Akame or Esdeath since they had more focus on them and they are more interesting to write about. Anyways, this fanfic will represent my imagination on how I think the story should have gone since it implements new elements that are not present in the original anime.

Changes to the original story:

Tatsumi will not have Incursio as his teigu but instead a black sword called Elucidator which has the power to control and manipulate darkness (yes, the name is from Kirito's sword in SAO).

Tatsumi will be stronger, smarter and more distant towards others than his original character due to his past being different. Another thing to note is since Tatsumi's past is different from the one in the anime, Sayo and Ieyasu will not go with Tatsumi to the Capital like normal.

The girl who will be shipped with Tatsumi is Akame, this fanfic will more focus on how their relationship grows stronger and the way in which they give each other strength (you'll find out more about this in the later chapters).

The plot of this fanfic will somewhat divert from the original since I want to implement my creativity within it, but don't worry, it is more or less has the same plot as the original anime.

Hope you enjoy this fanfiction!

"Ah! It's an Earth dragon!"

"Hurry, run for it!"

The screams of merchants were carried down by the wind to the approaching boy. He glanced at the direction, then sighed and ran across the path to help the merchants. He arrived and saw a tall, hulking Danger Beast with large claws and pulsing red eyes, standing over two merchants and a carriage.

The boy sighed in annoyance, then proceeded to leap at the Danger Beast. The Danger Beast saw a dark figure approaching and before it could turn to face the attacker, the boy whipped out his sword in less than a second and slashed the Danger's Beast throat out with blinding speed. Dark blood spurted from the wound as the Danger Beast couldn't even cry in pain, it just fell down onto the ground immediately. The sword was back in its sheath when the Danger Beast hit the ground.

"What the…" one of the merchants gasped in amazement. The other merchant was too stunned to from a comprehensive reply, so he just nodded.

"Are you guys okay?" the boy said uncaringly.

The merchants took a good look at the boy. He had a tall stature, with a black undershirt and a black cloak billowing in the wind. He had black pants to compliment his black attire and there were red lines that ran over his clothing. The boy had a brown, scruffy hair and while the boy had that look of a boy from the country, it was his eyes that caught the merchants' attention. The boy had green, piercing eyes with a cold, hard glint underneath them which emphasised that he was no normal person.

"Yes we are, thanks to you. We are forever in your debt. What's your name young man?" One of the merchants asked.

"The name's Tatsumi. I'm going to enlist in the military at the capital" Tatsumi lied, wanting to stay as inconspicuous as possible.

"The Capital? I don't know if you know this boy, but the Capital is…" The merchant began while unconsciously squeezing his fist in anger.

"Filled with horrid monsters that take the shape of people?" Tatsumi finished. "Don't worry I know, but that's still not going to stop me from going. I have my own reasons." With that Tatsumi waved goodbye to the merchants and headed off.

"That kid's not going to last two days in the capital" the other merchant said.

"I don't know, did you see his eyes? His eyes show that he's been through some tough things in his life. He's also got crazy skills with the sword, I bet he could give Akame of Night Raid a run for her money."

(One hour later, in the Capital)

Tatsumi was in the Capital and scanning the faces of people around him, from the outside you would think they were just bustling and normal people, but up close you could see that they were depressed and Tatsumi knew exactly why. The Empire was corrupt, mainly because of the Prime Minister. He was the one manipulating the young boy who was the Emperor and used it to fulfill his financial, political and carnal needs. He was someone who needed to be stopped, and Tatsumi was the guy to do it. But that wasn't his only reason being here.

Tatsumi stared at the barracks which was the place that was hiring people who wanted to serve in the army for a few seconds, then proceeded to walk around for a bit. He noted a young, blond woman following him around but didn't pay it too much mind. After a while of being followed, he got tired and confronted his stalker.

"You know, it's quite impolite to be following someone without making yourself known." Tatsumi casually said out loud.

The woman was surprised that she had been caught but decided to show herself as to not make the boy even more suspicious of her. Tatsumi rose an eyebrow at her attire, the woman wore a revealing outfit which consisted of a black tube top, yellow armbands, pants, boots and a scarf. Perhaps the most striking feature about her was her golden eyes.

That, and the fact that she was showing a lot of skin.

"Hey cutie," the woman seductively said. "Sorry about the whole following, I just saw a handsome boy roaming the streets, so I got curious as to what you were up to. I meant no ill will, I swear."

"Yeah right." Tatsumi resisted the urge to roll his eyes at her obvious lie. He knew she was up to something but didn't want to push it, so he didn't say anything.

"So, what's a cutie like you doing all the way at the Capital?" The woman asked, hoping to find out more information about this mysterious boy.

"Sorry, but it's really none of your business. I'd appreciate it if you just left me alone." Tatsumi coldly replied as he walked away.

"Oh pleeeease, how about this? You go to the bar with me and chat for a bit and I'll stop following you. I promise." She pleaded with him using her famous 'puppy dog' eyes.

"Alright fine, I should just go along with it so she'll leave me alone. Maybe I will even find out what she really wants from me." Alright fine, I see no harm in that. Let's go.'

A few minutes later…

"Oh boy I am stuffed! This stuff really is the best! Are you sure you don't want some?" She drunkenly asked.

Tatsumi shook his head. "I prefer to keep a level head" he said as he raised his eyebrow at the state which she was in.

She merely laughed and dug through another bottle of alcohol. "So tell me, what business do you have in the Capital?" She asked again, hopefully this time he would answer.

Tatsumi could tell she was persistent so he just told her the lie that he had been made up and committed to memory, that he was hoping to enlist in the army so that he could earn enough money to feed his village.

"I don't know if I will be able to climb the ranks in time. The soldiers here see me as useless and refuse to give me a promotion before they've even seen my skill. I don't have a lot of time on my hands so right now I'm kind of stuck" Tatsumi admitted to the pretty blonde.

"Oh, so you want to join the army?" A devious glint entered the woman's eye. "Well, what if I told you that I could help you out with that?" She spoke.

This little detail wasn't missed by Tatsumi, but he decided to see where this would go. "Oh? I'm listening."

The woman leaned forward a bit, showing more of her cleavage under her tank top. "I know a guy in the military who if I give a hefty sum of money to, will guarantee make sure you climb the ranks in the army in no time."

"There it is, I knew something was fishy the moment I met her. She's just talking to me because she wants to take my money. "

"I'm afraid our conversation is over" Tatsumi declared.

"And by the way," he said while running an eye through the alcohol bottles that she had went through, "you're responsible for paying for your drinks," and left through the door abruptly.

(At night time)

It was night time and the moon was peaking its head out through the clouds. Tatsumi was just standing on the streets, no doubt looking like a defenceless country boy who had no money to any stranger. However, they couldn't be more wrong.

A carriage came into sight on the path and stopped when it came next to him. A blond, little girl came out of the door, dressed in a long white shirt with a blue bow.

"Hello, my name is Aria. Would you mind telling me what you are doing outside on such a cold night?" Aria asked politely.

"Hello, my name is Tatsumi and I'm from the country. I'm stuck outside because I have no money," Tatsumi feigned helplessness.

Aria furrowed her eyes in concern. "Oh no, that's no good. My house is right up ahead, I would not be so impolite as to leave you out in this cold night alone. Please let me lend you shelter."

Tatsumi could tell that something was fishy; a rich girl who was willing to help a poor, defenceless country boy? "Yeah, something is definitely up."

"Oh please, I wouldn't want to intrude in your home, I couldn't do that." Tatsumi exclaimed.

"Don't bother trying," one of the guards said to Tatsumi. "When Mrs Aria decides on something, she won't stop until she gets it."

"He's right, you're better off just accepting Mrs Aria's kind offer." The other guard backed up.

"Well since you kindly offered, I will take you up on that" Tatsumi flashed a smile at Aria, who briefly blushed.

"It's fine really, I always enjoy helping others out. Come in the carriage and we will arrive at my house shortly."

(10 minutes later)

After a refreshing dinner and meeting with the girl's parents, Tatsumi lied in the closet next to the bed in his room and stayed quiet. From the beginning, Tatsumi knew something was suspicious about the way the family acted. They were just too…nice. Something he definitely did not expect from nobles in the Capital. Perhaps it was time to do some investigating to see if this family was really as nice as they seemed.

Tatsumi was about to exit the room when he heard footsteps approaching. Thinking fast, he grabbed Elucidator and hid in the closet, opening a cranny to look through. About three armed guards bust in with sharp weapons.

"Well, you guys know the drill" one guard said gruffly. "Let's knock him unconscious and send him down to the shed. Aria's mother is getting impatient."

"I know, I know. This job never gets easier. At least we are getting paid well." Another guard said as he moved to the side of the bed. "Wait a second, where did he go…"

No sooner than he said that Tatsumi burst through the closet door and with a quick slash, decapitated all of the guards, silently whipping his sword to get the blood off its edge as he sheathed it back into place.

"At least my instincts were right, something is definitely up about this place. First, they talk about shipping me to the shed. Anything that involved being restrained and taken to a certain location could not be good." Tatsumi decided it was time to eliminate his targets. He silently sneaked out of the room and into the hallway, where he noticed Aria's mother walking down and holding a book.

"Hmmm… the next entry should be Tatsumi" the woman said. "Gosh, I never get tired of this hobby…" Her next words that she was going to say, no one will know. Because in that instant, Tatsumi was behind her, glaring at her back.

"Sorry, but I don't really want to be involved in your hobby. Maybe you should consider doing something else in hell." He said as the multiple gashes in the woman's body became evident and her body went limp.

Tatsumi sighed, then picked up her diary and began to read. Most of it was confusing but as he got to the end, he couldn't help but want to throw up. The contents talked about were the woman's experiences that she had with people, and it involved chains, whips and an assortment of torture weapons.

"So, I guess the family wasn't so innocent after all. I can bet they probably invite clueless country bumpkins into their house and bring them to the shed for their sadistic pleasure." Tatsumi shuddered at the thought. "Well, I guess it's time to deal with the rest of the family." Tatsumi was about to move, when suddenly, he felt a powerful sense of bloodlust emanating from around the mansion.

A/N: Hey guys hope you enjoyed the first chapter of my fanfic. I know Tatsumi's past isn't quite clear yet at this point but do not worry, all will be revealed in due time. I will let you guys know that I might go back to certain chapter and tweak them every now and then, reasons can differ from grammatical errors to lack of content present in a certain part. Also, feel free to leave a review on your thoughts! Any feedback is always appreciated. Till next time!
