It all started on a mission the paw patrol were on since a storm happened early in the morning trapping Mayor Goodway in City Hall. Ryder was currently trying his best to move the big branch that was in front of the doors while the other pups were cleaning up around Adventure Bay. Chase and Rocky were on their way to help Ryder but the only help Ryder had currently is Buddy. Anyways as they were trying their best to move the branch, Ryder overheard two citizens that he didn't really got along with conversation and one of them said "I mean he only stays on his atv and does nothing but supervise the pups doing the work. He only assigns the missions and that's just it so why is he now helping out by moving those branches with a wolf pup who looks like the newest member of the team."

(FYI: Buddy is big for his age and he's about the size of an adult German Shepard and the length of an adult wolf.)

Ryder couldn't believe his ears but that's when the other one replied with "I know right! He's so useless that he doesn't really have a job on the team and he's the only one without paws plus parents that raised him. He should just leave the team and if he dies then no one would notice because he's not at all useful ever. He's only your neighborhood ten year old who's really smart that he doesn't even need to go to school at all. What a waste!" The two then walked away but they were still talking to each other about Ryder but what they said aren't worth being typed. Buddy overheard the two's conversation before they left and as the two were walking away he wanted to tear the two apart but Ryder told him "It's ok Buddy, they're just words." Ryder tried not to tear up but he did but no one noticed even when Rocky and Chase showed up to help.

After the cleanup was done, the paw patrol were at the lookout and Ryder was just putting the finishing touches on an important invention aka a spare pup pack for Buddy. When he was done he immediately picked it up and ran outside to show the others but then Ryder tripped on the curb of the driveway and he fell onto the grass but Ryder forgot to make the pup pack more stronger and before Ryder knew it the pup pack broke into a lot of pieces. The pups saw it happened while Buddy was taking a nap underneath the tree and they were shocked to see the happen but before they can say or do anything Ryder sighs as he got up and he picked up all of the pieces. Once he was done he took them back into the garage but when he was out of eyesight he started to tear up but he didn't burst out crying. The pups looked at each other and then Chase spoke up and asked "Is Ryder ok?" The pups didn't know how to answer that at all but they all figured Ryder would be ok.

An hour later Ryder was currently organizing the garage and he was doing pretty good but then he back up a bit and he then tripped and he then felt something really sharp cut through his arm and he felt blood seeping through a fresh cut on his arm so he quickly sat up to see a sharp machine part against the table in the garage and he then looked at the back of his arm to see a cut through his sleeve and around the cut on the sleeve it started to turn red so Ryder quickly exclaimed "MARSHALL!!!!! HELP!!!!" Marshall immediately came in with his emt pup pack and Marshall was surprisingly not surprised to see Ryder in this situation because there has been many times Marshall have seen people with cuts like Ryder's cut but he never expected for Ryder to get one tho and it being a bit bad plus deep. Once Marshall was done bandaging up Ryder's arm, he asked Ryder "Are you ok? Me and the other pups noticed you looking down when a new pup pack broke and you didn't let us help you clean it up. Is there something wrong?" "I'm fine Marshall! Trust me, just a rough day." Ryder told Marshall and Marshall couldn't help but feel that Ryder lied to him but he didn't say anything because he didn't want to make Ryder upset.

Later that day around in the evening time, Ryder was currently getting the pups's dinner ready and just like his luck that is non-existent today and the bag got caught on something and it broke to where all the food spilled out but luckily there was enough food in the bag that the food fell into the pups's bowls. Ryder couldn't believe that he got lucky the one time during the day that he just had. He soon sighed in relief and Ryder took the bowls outside and he called the pups to dinner and they all immediately ran over and ate. As Buddy was eating he noticed that Ryder was looking a bit down and he started to get concerned but he didn't know what he can do to help Ryder. After Dinner the pups all went to go play before it was time for bed and Ryder followed the pups outside and he had his pup pad in his hands just in case but then Ryder tripped, dropped his pup pad, and then he landed on it which broke his pup pad but the pups didn't notice or see it happen. Ryder looked down at his pup pad after he got up and he looked down at the completely destroyed pup pad so Ryder obviously picked it up and he went to his room instead of the garage to fix it and Ryder dropped the pup pad again as it went down and when it reached the floor with Ryder's room and other doors were on, Ryder immediately ran to his room teary faced because of what just went down today.

When it got dark and it started pouring down raining in a thunder storm, the pups all decided to sleep in the lobby but Buddy decided to sleep in Ryder's room like always but when Buddy entered the elevator, he saw Ryder's destroyed pup pad which left Buddy confused. When Buddy made it to the floor Ryder's room was on, Buddy heard crying coming from Ryder's room so he then went to go check it out and he peaked into Ryder's room to see Ryder face into his pillow, laying down on the bed, hugging his pillow while he cried. Buddy whimpered so he entered the room and he layed down next to Ryder. Ryder noticed and he looked at Buddy with a sorrow expression but Buddy did puppydog eyes of concerness and before Buddy knew it Ryder hugged Buddy and he cried into Buddy's fur. Buddy did his best to comfort Ryder because Buddy couldn't help but watch a being be sad so of course when this usually happens Buddy cheers them up. With Ryder however he had no idea what to do because he never seen Ryder upset before.

Because of how much Ryder cried, he cried himself to sleep and Buddy soon fell asleep he got an idea on what to do in the morning. When Buddy woke up in the morning, he gently and quietly got out of bed making sure that Ryder doesn't wake up and then Buddy ran to the elevator where the pup pad was at, he picked it up, and he took it to the pups who were just starting to wake up. The pups were confused to see a broken pup pad but then Buddy grabbed a paper and pen and he wrote on the paper 'Ryder had a bad day yesterday and by the way he's sleeping, he's probably still upset so we need to make him feel better.' "Ok, we know that his pup pad broke and the pup pack he was working on broke. We know we have a spare pup pad but we don't know how to fix the pup pack." Skye admitted but then Rocky chimed in with "I can fix the pup pack since I know it was meant for Buddy since Ryder needed my help with finding parts for it! I saw the blueprints for the pup pack so if I can get those blueprints I can fix the pup pack." "The rest of us can try to cheer up Ryder if he's ever down. Any ideas?" Marshall explained and Rubble suggested "Let him sleep in!" then Chase suggested "Help him with what he's struggling with!" and then Zuma suggested "Do stuff with him that makes Ryder happy!" Everyone thought about the topics the three suggested and they all agreed that they were good ideas.

When Ryder woke up he couldn't believe that he slept in and he started to panic but he then saw a fixed pup pad on his dresser which confused him but he realizes that it was a spare pup pad. He then got changed into his normal wear and went to go see what the pups were up to even tho he was still feeling down. He then entered the lobby to see the pups teaching Buddy how to play pup pup boogie and it was kinda funny because of how Buddy misinterpreted the dance were signs that someone was gonna rub his belly or his back should be scratched on the floor. Ryder couldn't help but giggle because of how Buddy kept on having a happy look every single time but what he didn't know is that this was planned by the pups and Buddy. Ryder then noticed that Rocky wasn't around which confused Ryder even when he was eating an apple for breakfast. "Hey pups? Where's Rocky?" Ryder asked and Chase replied with "He's working on something. Hey, wanna play pup pup boogie with us Ryder?" "I would rather just watched." Ryder replied. After Ryder sat down on a beanbag chair, Buddy got off the dance mat and Zuma got on the dance mat so he can verse Skye. Buddy then got onto Ryder's lap and sat down which covered up Ryder's view of the screen but the pups and Ryder all found it funny and Ryder kinda started to laugh.

An hour goes by and Rocky entered the lobby through the elevator and the pups paused the pup pup boogie game. This confused Ryder but Buddy got off of Ryder's lap and now all eyes were on Rocky. "Guys! I finished fixing it!" Rocky exclaimed as he pulled out Buddy's pup pack. Ryder couldn't believe his eyes and he asked "How did you do it tho?! I-it was shattered into a million pieces!!!" "I found the blueprints and I had a lot of extra parts." Rocky admitted and before the pups and Buddy knew it, Ryder pulled them all into a hug and he exclaimed "YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!" The pups and Buddy smiled and wagged their tails.
