You guys can tell this is before they developed feelings for each other and this is how they started to get feelings.
It was a peaceful day and Mayor Goodway, Ryder, and Danny were on s camping trip with other Mayors who brought one or two ten year olds from their town but Ryder and Danny were confused why Mayor Goodway chose them. The pups were at the lookout alone with Ryder's pup pad since Ryder can't be pulled away from this trip at all so with this logic Ryder was kinda grounded from going on missions. Danny was also grounded from being on his phone for the trip because he always get distracted on it and his mom told him that the experience would be worth it. So, when Mayor Goodway, Ryder, and Danny came to the meeting spot where they saw other 10yr olds with Mayors. Ryder noticed that two Mayors had two 10yr olds each while Mayor Humdinger and one other only brought one 10yr old each. Of course Ryder noticed Mayor Humdinger brought Harold and Ryder rolled his eyes because of it. Anyways the Mayors then talked for a bit and when they were done, Mayor Goodway pulled Danny and Ryder to the side and she explained to the two "Ok, Ryder please don't stay up late worrying like you do and Danny please don't do any stunts. This is an event where I need you both to be on your best behavior and to not try to do anything that can make things turn to the worse like Danny getting stuck on something and Ryder having to save you but then you both get stuck ok? I don't want anything like that to happen." Ryder and Danny nodded while giving each other some glares. The two boys didn't get along that well because ever since Danny became a daredevil, he's been caring less about his safety and Ryder hated how every time Danny's in trouble he has to save him. "Also please get along ok? You two were once great friends and now you guys don't like each other. I don't know what happened to you both but please put your differences to the side and please be nice ok?" Mayor Goodway added and the two boys nodded.
When the Mayors decided where to go, everyone started to hike to one of the locations of the forest but Mayor Humdinger kept on secretly been giving Ryder some looks but Ryder didn't notice them but Danny did so everytime Mayor Humdinger would glare at Ryder, Danny would move in Mayor Humdinger's eyesight and glare back which would get Mayor Humdinger to stop. Ryder was so confused when he saw that Danny was glaring at Mayor Humdinger but he didn't think much of it. When they all found a great spot to set up camp Ryder, Danny, and Harold were the only ones setting up their tents while the other 10yr olds were goofing off with each other. This confused the three but apparently Danny forgot his tent at home so Danny and Ryder had to share a tent. When the tents were all put up, everyone decided to do activities for the rest of the day which were pretty exhausting. After all that when everyone was having dinner, Ryder was the only one not eating and Danny noticed because everyone else was talking. "You ok Ryder?" Danny asked Ryder and Ryder nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just not hungry." Ryder admitted.
At night however, Danny was woken up by Ryder having a nightmare. Danny sat up and he looked at Ryder who was moving around in his sleeping bag as if he was having a nightmare. "Ryder?" Danny asked but he didn't get a response. "Ryder." Danny exclaimed to Ryder which he got the same results. Danny then got out of his sleeping bag and he shook Ryder and he then exclaimed "Ryder!!" to which Ryder woke up. Danny took his hands off of him and Ryder sat up. "Sorry..." Ryder told Danny to which this confused the red head. "Why did you apologize? You just had a nightmare." Danny asked Ryder. "I woke you up tho and you saw me like this." Ryder explained and immediately before Ryder can say anything else, Danny hit Ryder with his pillow. "You worry too much. Everyone has nightmares including me! But my case is different because my mom or my sister has to wake me up which is extra embarrassing." Danny admitted and Ryder giggled slightly. "Let's just get some sleep ok? We have a big day tomorrow." Danny told Ryder and Ryder nodded. This went on for most of the trip but one night Danny lost his sleeping bag and he couldn't find it. "It's not in the tent." Ryder told Danny who was frantically looking in his backpack. "Then where could it be?!" Danny exclaimed. "I don't know!!!" Ryder exclaimed.
They couldn't find Danny's sleeping bag so they have to result to the one thing left since tonight will be a cold night... They have to share a sleeping bag and have their backs plus feet against each other. The two were obviously not happy when they were in this position to go to bed but Ryder told Danny "Never speak of this night. Ok?" "Agreed." Danny replied and before the two knew it they both fell asleep but when they woke up tho their noses were touching each other and of course they both blushed but screamed quietly. It was silent for a moment when the two went to separate corners of the tent but then Ryder told Danny "Sorry." "Never speak of that?" Danny asked and Ryder nodded. They were both glad when they got home but for some reason Ryder felt a bit warm whenever he was around Danny as if Danny was now a crush to Ryder.
