chapter 9: Of Coldplay and more eaz-dropping

Percy Jackson:
I nervously itched the back of my neck as I knocked the third time. Either nobody was home or the Chases really hated Thalia and I for some reason
Thalia, who had been smirking at my nervousness, rolled her eyes with a deep scowl (Obviously eager to cuss out Annabeth for making her look like she had emotions,) and shoved passed me, barging into the house.
"Annabeth Athena Chase if you don't get your butt (she did not use that kind of a word) down here I swear I will-" Thalia was cut off by her own realization:
Somebody was blasting Coldplay upstairs.
Thalia rolled her eyes, "I think we found Annabeth."
I nodded impatiently, eager to see what was wrong with Annabeth.
"Yeah Thals. She's here, so can we go talk to her now?"
Thalia nodded, running upstairs.
I gripped onto the homework papers tightly, following Thalia upstairs to what I remember as Annabeth's room...and the cause of the music.
"Annabeth?" I called softly as I stood beside Thalia, who was right outside the bedroom door.
Thalia had obviously had enough and was about to kick the door open when the knob started to rattle.
Thalia put her foot down slowly and looked at me.
We both were surprised by what we saw when the door opened.
It was a smiling Annabeth. She looked totally fine, like nothing was wrong.
This made Thalia look extremely worried...I didn't understand why.
If Annabeth looked fine then that mean...Oh. Her and her walls again.
I sighed and looked at Annabeth. Now understanding why Thalia was so upset. Annabeth wouldn't take our help, and she knew it.
I slowly handed Annabeth the papers.
She smiled at me...but her eyes didn't sparkle like they did when she normally smiled.
Thalia looked at Annabeth angrily. "Cut the crap Chase. I know your stupid barrier because something is wrong, and I know you won't let us help you because of your stupid pride but a least tell ME what's wrong."
Annabeth's smile faded quickly and she nodded.
Thalia pushed me away and slammed the door in my face, Pulling Annabeth inside the room.
I know I probably shouldnt have but I put my ear against the door.
"She's back," Annabeth said quietly. I heard Thalia make a "Who?" sound.
"My...M-Mom."
Thalia gasped. "No. Freaking. Way."
There was silence for a moment so I am guessing Annabeth nodded. "Thals...I have to move in with her."
I froze.
'Annabeth has to move away? What if I never see her again? How far does she have to go? Her mom is back? Didn't she leave her for a career?'
I suddenly got angry at Annabeths mother. She leaves Annabeth at a young age and then once Annabeth is finally free from Luke and has Thalia and I by her side and she just shows up and demands Annabeth to leave her home?
I know Annabeth doesn't always get along with her family but I can tell she loves her dad and the twins...at least.
I could hear Thalia breathing angrily.
"Do you know were she lives?"
More silence.
"I- I don't know Thals," Annabeth said softly.
Thalia sighed and stood up.
"Well we should probably get Percy," Thalia said loudly. "Or is that rascal already here!"
Thalia quickly opened the door and I fell on the ground.
"Oof."
Annabeth was laughing from her bed. I was glad she wasn't mad at me this time.
"Sorry," I mumbled guiltily.
Annabeth stopped laughing and shrugged.
"I was going to tell you anyways," she said.
I stared at Annabeth.
She stared at me.
Thalia laughed at us, which pulled Annabeth out of our little staring contest.
"Well, got to go, Bye Percy!" Annabeth said quickly. Kissing my cheek and shoving me out of the bedroom.

Annabeth Chase:
To be honest, I was pretty scared.
After my little encounter with Thalia and Percy I decided it was best for me to stop wallowing in self pity and go to school.
I finished off the week (my first week of school) and worked on the project with Percy a lot.
I was feeling pretty good, I was finally free from Luke, and recently realized my feelings for Percy. I was trying to keep these thoughts in my head while packing up my room. I would be moving in with my mom Sunday morning...it was Saturday night.
I grabbed my little notebook with my sketches and started drawing.
'How far do I have to move?' I thought. 'The least my mother could do is make me move in with her before school starts. Now I have to be the lone nerd at yet another school.'
I sat on the floor in my empty room, drawing myself to sleep. Dreading the events of the next day.
